However they did say they will refund back on to the card, which we are still yet to receive. We had nearly finished our drinks around an hour later and I had to ask how much longer will the food be. The lady then ran into the back and appeared 5 mins later with the food. We could see the chips looked well overdone but thought we will try them and see. All we could taste was a burnt flavour and waited around 10-15 min to find a member of staff to report it to. I asked the lady for replacement chips. She then walked off into the back with one of the plates of food, left the second on the bar. About 10 minutes later the lady reappeared carrying the plate, picked up the plate that had been sat on the bar and slammed the food back on the table. The lady then picked a chip off the plate and squashed it in front of my mothers face, then threw the chip back on the plate of food and said there is nothing wrong with them. That's how we serve them. I said you have touched the food so we couldn't even eat it anyway now. Then the landlord came over picked up a few chips of the other plate tapped them on the table and said there fine and threw it back on the plate. We asked for a refund as this was unacceptable. 2 other customers said they were burnt and got up and left without eating. The lady then proceeded to shout across the bar saying they are not Wetherspoons and that is how they cook their food.The lady continued shouting at us abusively, all we asked was for fresh edible chips. The landlord eventually said he will replace it with fresh chips which he then explained were microwaved and in a disposable packet when presented to us. They explained they pre cook the chips in the fryer then when ordered they microwave them refry them, microwave them and refry again. Which resulted in burned hard greasy chips. I will not recommend this establishment to visit. The most concerning was the lady's attitude and abusive nature to us as paying customers. To feel threatened while explaining our concern is not what you want when going out for a special meal with my mother. I would hope the lady has realised that when customer facing you should not shout abusive comments and touch customers food. This is a disgrace and we are feeling physically shaken by the horrific experience. We have had to throw the food away as it was not edible.

My wife and I have been coming here for nearly three years now and the food is still the best around. Sometimes you may have to wait due to everything being cooked fresh to order but it is well worth the wait. Look out for the specials board which has some of the unusual dishes not normally seen in other restaurants.

The pub has a bar area and a restaurant area - we only ever went into the bar as you could eat int here and it was really cosy (dogs are also allowed!). The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty (lets face it, Yorkshire, particularly North Yorkshire folk are possibly the most friendly on the planet - i challenge you to disprove this!). The food was INCREDIBLE. Nothing fancy pants, just really good food, VERY big portions (trust me on this, you dont need three courses - choose your weapon of starter or dessert to go alongside your main - we made the mistake one night and 1) couldnt eat it all and 2)pretty much rolled home). We spent an evening in the pub, had a meal and then sat playing card games - we felt incredibly welcome. So welcome that we ended up visiting three times in a week long holiday. Nice pint of "black sheep" ale at £2.80 pp served in lovely old style pub with log burning stoves. Sunday lunchtime, we went for the carvery at £5.95 - marvellous! Choice of 4 meats with as much veg as you can get on your plate - I have to say that I have never had as much meat put on my plate at any other carvery before, all cooked well. Great pub just 2 mins from Bawtry - so will visit again!

Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

having eaten at both inn on the green and the black horse with my family recently if were talking…read moreabout comparisions there isnt one lets start with the service the inn on the green provides professional service and standards that we have not experienced in a long time at a village pub very impressed. as for the black horse half the staff were outside smoking when we arrived and the language was disgusting even if we didint have our children with us and thats why we was probably waiting ages for any service, we could have come between there smoke breaks if was told when that was. lets talk about food the inns web site is totally correct fresh food and some grown on the premises as i saw for myself it was very well cooked and just as well presented again down to the service again very impressed. the black horse how ever not alot fresh im afraid and would of been nice for all our family to eat together instead of in stages and it was not busy at all so no excuse there. down sides for both places.....The inn on the green, cud nt find one on our visit great value for money and all the awards they have won totally earned including a great review in the journal for february recently. the black horse, bad news quite alot overpriced including drinks, service very poor, language outside and inside very offensive and no need at all and obviously allowed by the management, very dissapointed. I quite often go to Bawtry to meet the family. This was the first time I'd been into Pangea though…read more I was amazed I'd not noticed it before to be honest as it's literally opposite The Crown Hotel. The best way to explain it is, when you walk in it does feel like you're walking into someone's house as a guest. The bars in one room and then there's another side room with seating all around the edge and then another room with tables and chairs. It's minimalist and feels very tasteful. The cocktails were really good! I had many espresso martini's...they just kept getting better and better! Then I had a couple of pornstar martini's...the ones with the prossecco chaser, they were great and the passionfruit was fresh and didn't make the drink tart. The music was good but not too loud so you couldn't hear each other. We were for hours and had a great night! Looking forward to going back next time.
