The meat is all very nicely packaged and is a step above where we went last time. The owner was so nice and shared how his family had moved from Massachusetts and saw an opportunity when the business went on sale a while back. It sounds like he has great plans to expand the business both on site and online, including delivery options. Although, driving out to new Germany isn't a bad way to spend a Saturday morning. Bonus is you get to peruse their coolers where they have a variety of options, including multiple flavors of delicious beef sticks. This is definitely a place is recommend for processing and getting your locally sourced meats.

This is a review for the butcher side of the business. After an unsatisfactory past experience we…read moreweren't going to use them again. However, a local farmer had a beef cow die and we decided to buy half. Due to other butchers being full he had to use Knaus. I gave them explicit directions as we don't like fatty or gristle ridden meat. I told them when in doubt to grind the meat, no gristle/chunks of fat. They left tons of gristle on the steaks (not just marbling) and the stew meat needs exhaustive trimming to be edible. I cut 5 oz. off of the 16 oz. stew meat cuts. We're talking you'd be unable to chew your bite! It appears that they just want the weight to be up there so you pay more. It's no wonder they were able to take the animal where the others couldn't. I will NEVER step foot in their establishment again.

We recently bought an RV in the Clearwater Forest Resort in South Haven, Mn…read more To get there from the south, we have to go through Annandale, Mn, and drive right by Petty Bothers Meats on Hwy 55. I have stopped there a total of two times for their steaks, pork steaks, and beef sticks. Simply excellent. The New York Strip Steaks and Ribeyes are an excellent cut, and cheaper than Target! They have an amazing pork steak as well, big in size, but less than $5.00!! I went to close down the RV earlier today and picked up a drunken marinaded ribeye (frozen), a New York Strip, and a large pork steak on the way home. A simple seasoning of raw sugar, steak seasoning, and lemon pepper and a good sear on the charcoal grill made the trip totally worth it. Sorry no pictures. We ate it all and I forgot to take the pics! If you're in the area, stop on in and browse. They also have weekly specials as well. Well worth the drive from the Twin Cities (about an hour).
