I bought two dozen eggs on a 2 dozen for $15 deal. I also bought a huge gorgeous heirloom tomato, a purple radish which was art to witness once cut into, and a bunch of leeks. Everything was delicious, and the lady who helped us was extremely knowledgeable and friendly to speak to. We visited the animals outside behind the market afterwards. There were plenty of sheep, llamas and goats to see roaming around. They were friendly and grazing. I did feel bad for one of the goats who seemed to hurt his front leg though. I hope she feels better soon! Can't wait to come back when it gets warmer outside and spend more time with the animals!

I think it was close to $20 for a quart box. At the end of the day...they're berries. And overly ripe at that. There are so many stands in the area to choose from, skip this one.

I have also joined their "Rent the Chicken" program. I used to own chickens years ago and it was a lot of work. "Rent the chicken" was a super fun & easy way to have chickens and enjoy farm fresh eggs every day! I toured their farm and all the animals are in very spacious and comfortable living spaces. They are treated like LOVED pets! Also, the Templeton's are very friendly and professional. I learn something new about animals every time I go to TFO! The service is outstanding! Look forward to my next visit to the Templeton Family Organics Farm!!

If you have never had a farm fresh chicken, it really is something to try. It is hard for many people to understand why there is such a difference in grocery store prices vs farm prices (and then, organic farm prices). It's worth it to me because the flavor is so insanely better than anything I have bought at a store. This meat is even better than the chicken we get from a local non-organic farm. The other differences I noticed is that the skin is much heartier. It does not split easily. It's a healthier chicken, so the collagen is not compromised. My proof is also in the bottom of the pan. There was not much fat once the juices cooled. They solidified into gelatin, which tells me the collagen is healthier. We both noticed when eating the meat from bones, the bones actually had flavor! So, I cannot wait to get another one and make chicken stock from the bones. Also, the chicken was very big. I was under the misconception that only GMO feed and steroid injected chickens get that big at that young age. Not true. What is true is that all parts are proportionately large. As opposed to grocery store chickens that have huge breast meat areas, and the other parts are small. This chicken clearly got great exercise. We also got a sugar pumpkin. It was wonderful too. Some pie pumpkins are very hard to cut into, the skin is like bark. These pumpkins cut well, roasted well and had a nice autumn flavor. I will be making my pie soon. We ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving. I am very much looking forward to it. The turkeys are raised the same way the chickens are, and I am quite certain the flavor and quality will be unbelievable.

Items at the White Barn Store that are NOT on the CSA list: raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, cantelope, corn, beans, etc. etc. 15 weeks in the CSA so it is about $43 a week if you do the CSA. You can choose only 8 items on a list if you do the CSA. Only 8. As a sample, one item has been: one zucchini, one yellow squash, one garlic clove, 3 beets, one raddhicio, one cabbage, etc. Given the $43 a week CSA price, then each item is about $5.25. So, if you do the CSA you are paying $5.25 for ONE zucchini, $5.25 for one garlic clove, $5.25 for 3 beets, $5.25 for a green cabbage. I have done CSAs for over a decade and the idea used to be that a person will "invest" in the farm up front and it it is a good year then there is a bounty of veggies, if it is a bad year you help the farmer by ensuring they have a set fund to work from. This has not been a bad year. Sadly, this farm does not allow the CSA investor to share in the harvest. Instead we pay over $5 for a single zucchini or garlic clove while we see other shoppers who didn't do the CSA be able to pay less. If you joined this CSA and are disappointed, please don't give up on CSAs. There are much better ones out there that respect the CSA investor.

Sort of like subscribing to those businesses that send you cool mystery packages, a farm share is where you pay to support the farm and in return you get a share of the farm's harvest, whatever they end up harvesting. You will need to pick it up yourself of course. Jules invited me to tag along with her to pick up the farm share harvest for the week. No one was really there to monitor everything that day (we were actually the only ones present at the moment). The farm people just left the harvested goods there in a barn and you sign off on the list that you picked up your share! This time around we got scallions, kale, and scallions. There is even a barter box where you can leave behind items you do not want and in return, you can take any items that you want.

And Sweetland is the first place that came to mind. This place is working super hard to bring local, nutritious meats and produce to the community. On top of that, they do everything they can to actually build that community and it's resilience. In normal years, their CSA pickup and you pick crops for members are a really awesome way to meet and visit with neighbors, and they also host a variety of awesome events and let you wander around the beautiful farm. Chris and Norah and the crew are also really kind and welcoming. This year, despite being crazy busy filling their sold out CSA shares, they also put lots of time and effort into starting a grocery pick up service for community members to be able to get food safely. I worked with them on this project, and was amazed by how hard working, caring, and innovative they are. They really cared about their team, other local farmers, and their community. It's very inspiring to be around them.

If you get SNAP benefits, they do HIP, which means you can purchase $40.00 a month on your card and get it put right back on. Such a help for me being a very, very low income senior citizen. I didn't go to the orchard and it seemed like most of the other visitors were going to visit it. Ambiance was really nice though. It would've been nice to sit down there with a cup of coffee with the donuts which I was told was common at other orchards. I just picked one closest to me which happened to be Dave's. It was a nice pretty place though. No complaints here.
