The skate park is isolated from the rec center and just as spacious. It appears to have been sectioned off by skill level. The farthest North section is comprised of 4 small but good depth beginner bowls, and a couple short ramps with short rails. This is a great area to practice basic skills and get your confidence up. The other two areas are actually quite challenging and appear to be out of the amateur range. They look like blue/ black runs look to me on the slopes. The bowls are deep, the ramps are steep and the rails are long and have differing grades and levels. The speed is high and actually looks a bit dangerous. My 5 yr old spent most of his time in the beginner bowl area, and then ventured to the middle section, but never ventured into the danger zone. It looked like a great place to film a documentary on skateboarding which moves from beginners to advanced/ expert level skateboarders. My biggest concern was: not one child had on a helmet except for my son and this is literally an accident waiting to happen.

Bike Park review:…read more Not many parks are big enough for a dirt bike area but thankfully Bayou Gulch is! There are 3 bike areas, beginner, intermediate and advanced. All 3 have obstacles, hills, bridges etc. Kids of all ages and adults could spend many an hour here. I would highly recommend. Negative: there are almost no trees, so in the summer it would be super hot. Notes: the bike park is not in the same area as the playground and baseball fields (I got lost) so double check directions if you haven't gone before. There is a covered table area and a port a potty at the parking lot area. The bike trails are a short walk from the parking lot. Dogs are allowed just leashed at all times.

If you're more into street, it's quite limited. There are a couple stairs to jump down and a couple ledges and rails, but not much else. The skate park is on the small side and a lot of people enjoy skating the same things (mini bowl and the ramps in the middle of the park) so if there are +5 people, it can start to feel crowded.

The paved paths are great for walking, biking, or rollerblading. There's a lot to do here--playgrounds for the kids, open areas for picnics or frisbee, and even a skate park and fitness stations. The splash pad in the summer is a huge hit with families. Some areas could use a little more upkeep, and parking can get tight during events, but overall it's a fantastic city park that brings the community together. Great spot for a casual day outdoors.

The paved…read moretrail goes all the way to I-25 and hooks up with several other trails, so it's a long distance runner's dream. They have disc golf and a nice play area for the kids.
