Great place to stop and take a break after you white-knuckle your rig through Houston (or San Antonio if going the other direction). Small, quiet, clean and unassuming with decent hookups, good size (gravel) spaces and beautiful oak trees. Very close (maybe 6 miles) to Columbus where there are restaurants and a Walmart. And LaGrange is only about 25 miles north. Can't beat the price for a restful stay near the I-10. There is a little traffic noise and occasionally the train will blow its horn while passing through, but overall it's not bad. read more

Whispering oaks rv park in weimer texas is absolutely horrible for this. We were driving down the highway when our tire started pealing. Managed to get to whispering oaks to pull in somewhere safe to look. While terrified and trying to figure out a plan a older man came out. As soon as we saw him we explained what happened ask if he could please help us (two adult females and one 11 month old) He ignored us and responded with "this is private property you need to leave" apologized and explained why we pulled in since we used to live here and knew it was safe. He responded with "You don't live here now. You don't belong here. You need to leave. This is private property. That's what that sign is for." Apologized and told him we were leaving. His response "good." Then he watched us leave with a badly messed up tire. Very slowly and carefully made it home. thank god. I've never been as disappointed in humanity as I am right now. Absolutely disgusting. I will never have a good thing to say about whispering oaks rv park again. read more

A very sweet lady, I believe her name was Lynn, checked us in. She handed us a map, showed us where our site was and said to let her know if we needed anything. Pure southern hospitality right there! They have some really cute yard art scattered around. The park has paved interior roads and big white gravel at sites. The nice kind of gravel that you don't track into your RV. Interior roads are a bit tight for larger rigs, and we snagged some trees that need trimming. Sites are nearby and some have a bit more space than others. Our site was long and mostly level. Each site has a picnic table on the grass. Satellite is possible in some sites. There is no cable but there are a few OTA channels. The WiFi was too slow for us so we used our Verizon hot spots (4g 4bars). There is only one dumpster, and it is up near the front. There is definite traffic noise since the park is right off I-10. All the reviews I read and no mention of the train tracks right behind here - at a crossing - where they blow the whistle every time? We heard a couple during night and quite a few during the day. Honestly, sounds like they are coming right through the park. We were there on a Saturday morning, and they had a food cart serving specialty coffees and some breakfast items. Not sure if this is a regular thing or not. Push come to shove, we'd stay again; however, between the highway and the trains it was too noisy for us. read more

This is a 5 park. We pulled in right when it was getting to and Pete was there to guide us to our spot. Some of the huge oak trees had beautiful soft lights on them. The park is impeccably maintained and the Owners are very hospitable and accessible. The doggie area is nicely fenced and has shade and a bench, which I appreciate. They have a nice playground for kids as well. The free WiFi is good but I especially liked the fact that we could pay $5.00 more for 3 days and have exceptional high speed WiFi. We have to work as we travel and also have "cut the cord" so being able to stream is a priority. I wish all the parks would offer this option. Thank you Liz and Pete for your generous hospitality. Very rude...my family was stranded on the side of i10 due to a flat tire and this RV park had a huge field of open land and wouldn't allow them to change it there. A worker demanded them to get off the property and change their tire on the side of the highway. So rude and the root of what is wrong with our world today. This park should of graciously allowed them to change a tire on their property..would've maybe taken 30 minutes...show some love and ask if they need help or some water! Would not support this business in the future. read more

Loved this RV park! It was so clean and so many extras. They have a small trailer that serves coffee and breakfast tacos and sandwiches on Saturdays. They had metal art all over the park. They even have fresh eggs from their own chickens! Such a cute place to stop and right off the highway! read more

I pulled in to fix a strap on my load that had broke when in less than a minute the owner was standing beside my truck screaming at me in how I was blocking her drive way. She then berated me saying how I could be doing the task I was conducting else where. When confronted with the issues of safety with securing my load and my own well being she said she didn't care. Finally as i was pulling away delivered a final insult to finish off her tantrum. Horrible and rude. We were in an emergency situation and needed to change a tire and they were the only business around. Made us leave and change it in the side of the road. We are avid campers and would never recommend this place much less stay here. Dirty place anyway! read more

Immaculate park with great shade trees. Lots of pull through spots. Lots are level gravel with plenty of grassy area between campers. Most spots have a picnic table and fire pits. There is a large dog park and a playground. Onsite laundromat and convenience store are spotless. They do accept Good Sam or give military discount for overnight guests. We are here on a monthly basis, so they do long term and short term rentals. There are three small cabins onsite for rent too. Wifi is fast so we can work online, and we get the major tv channels on our antenna. Cell reception is good too. Great location halfway between Weimar and Columbus. read more

The campground is no frills. Close to the highway. Gravel pull through. It was too cold outside to take a shower. The bath house was clean with one shower. The owner Elizabeth was very nice and helpful. They welcomed us when we pulled our pop up in the campground. It was a nice place for a one night stay before going to San Antonio. The RV Park has easy access to I-10. Conveniently located off the Interstate. Perfect location for us tired travelers. The park is clean with long sites. Full hookup with water, electric and sewer. Excellent WiFi. The bathroom, although one bathroom, is clean and works! The laundry facility was also clean and the washers and dryers all worked. The office person and grounds person were very helpful, guided us to our site and were extremely friendly. I read the reviews on here, and they did not depict the actual use of the RV Park. The reviews that were negative were not at all accurate of our experience. Highly recommend this park. read more

We had a blowout a few exits before this place. We pulled in and asked if we could stay in a spot for a few hours while we went into Columbus to get the tire fixed. For a small fee we were able to unhook the RV in the shade with electricity and water. Very clean place with nice spots and very nice people checking us in. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Columbus or just passing thru and needing to stop and rest. read more

The Couple running this place seemed a bit shady. We called and got a$34 quote per night. When we arrived we wanted The spot next to us which had shade. The Lady in office said it was booked. I asked if there were any others with shade and she said no. We walked around and found a shady site. I went and asked The lady if we could take it, she said sure. Keep in mind this park is nearly empty. We went back to Theoffice That evening to tell them we like the spot and want to stay for 4nights. That's when she said The site we picked with shade was an extra$2 per night. Sad. Feels dishonest. ButThe park is clean. Rocked sites with grass on both sides. Nice picnic bench and fire pit. They have an enclosed dog run too. Stay elsewhere if you want to deal with honest people. read more

After meeting with Owner and resolving an issue of an undisclosed cost, I am changing my review. The Park itself is well kept, clean, dry and very nice. Lots of room for dogs to walk on grass (careful of fire-ants). There are few spots with shade, which are a premium cost (was not informed of that until after setup). This campground has a good feel about it. The sites at this campground are roomy and level. They are dirt and gravel. There's a table and a fire ring at each site. The people are very nice. There isn't much to do in the area, but it would be a good place to just kick back and relax. read more
