Tucked-away inn, big-night-out food. We started at the Mermaid Bar with a plate of local oysters…read more(briny, ice-cold, gone in about four minutes) and a round of bubbles that made everything feel fancier than it needed to be. Then came the scallops, seared to that perfect crusty-on-the-outside, butter-soft-inside finish, sitting in risotto with bacon and crisp green apple for a sweet-tart snap. Genuinely one of the best scallop dishes I've had on-island. The cocktail program deserves a shoutout too, mine came dark, moody, and dressed with a little flower garnish from Bridget's garden that made it look like it belonged in a much more expensive bar tab. The tasting menu ($115, four courses, MV-sourced ingredients) is a commitment but if you want a proper date-night splurge, this is the move. Only knock: it's a destination, not a walk-by, so plan the drive and maybe a reservation. Would go back just for the scallops and oysters alone. I am lucky enough to be able to ride my bike here!!

They anticipated every need (glasses of water and lemonade for the guests in the garden awaiting the start of the wedding on a sunny afternoon - yes please!) and every single staff we encountered were pleasant, helpful and friendly! Without hesitation I would recommend Lambert's Cove Inn for your special event!

The store itself has the best selection on the island, environmentally friendly products, and great…read moreemployees. There is a lot of produce here that doesn't exist anywhere else on the island. But the markup on their products makes the bulk of what they sell inaccessible to the average person. It's beyond the classic healthfood store pricing, we're talking $20 for a jar of almond butter when Vineyard Grocer (under five minutes away) sells the same thing for much less. I mean, it seems counterintuitive to be focused on eco-friendliness and then to price out the majority so only some can afford it, right? Like, if you want people buying non-organic/fair trade/etc, why make it so most of them can't do it at your store? The counter argument I usually hear is that you get a discount via the Island Club Card, but that's going away soon and it's like $90. So it's still a problem. Sometimes you'll need to go here to buy something you want and in all honesty if you're visiting the island it's worth checking out. But always look at the price tag before you buy anything, you never know when something that should be $7 is $30.

This is an outrageous grocery store, charging 2-3 times what I pay for things at Whole Foods!…read more Selection is not spectacular, the fruits and vegetables look terrible. The store isn't even that well stocked or clean. I literally saw a pint of cherry tomatoes for $10. The yogurt I buy is $1.25 at Wegman's and $2.49 at Cronig's. Soda that's often 4 two liters for $5 in Boston is $3.99 each. I walked out with some drinks and snacks for the beach and it was $100. Checkout people are nice. It's sad because I would love to support local businesses and I'm not a Stop and Shop fan but it's better than this.

Randi recently did the photos for our wedding on the island, and it was a dream. We had a tight…read morebudget but knew we really wanted to splurge on the best photographer, and she was fantastic. Very laid back and confidence-inspiring. She helped us visualize our wedding in a different way that was even really helpful for planning, and she walked us through different options for when and how to take photos with guests (receiving line, candid, a private space, etc.) and the schedule of the day from a photographer's perspective. She asked for a list of all the people we wanted formal shots with in advance and had a grip on who was who, to make sure she got everyone. She was very communicative and even checked in the week of the wedding to make sure nothing had changed in the schedule or guest list and walk through the logistics one last time. It all made it very easy the day of, and you can tell in our photos! We got a sneak peek of 5 photos just a few days later and they are incredible. Couldn't have asked for better! They are artistic and creative while not detracting from us as the couple and she got some very insightful shots of us. Thanks, Randi!

We used Randi Baird as our wedding photographer and it was unfortunately a big disappointment to…read moreus. The result was sloppy pictures and prints. Randi forgot to take photos of our family members, she was not detail oriented and was not professional. It took six months to get our Thank You Cards. The quality of these were poor and the cards had to be re-printed four times. Randi did not listen and did not pay attention to how we wanted things. In addition, the expensive ($1,500) Wedding Book that we ordered was a mess. Randi did not spend any time putting the book together but wanted us to do the work ourselves. Most of the pictures were "redish" in color and did not go well together. We would not recommend Randi Baird to anyone and are highly disappointed with her work and way to work. DO NOT BOTHER with this "photographer"!
