Hubs and I went back to The Moss House recently. My review, nor the stars have changed, but…read moresometimes when I am looking through reviews of other places, I like to read the most recent in case things have changed a bit. Well, nothing has changed, except maybe it is better, although I am unsure how that is possible. Becky is truly one of the most gracious hostesses ever! Each room is just as welcoming and warm for your arrival. Your name awaits you on the door, and a piece of chocolate is calling your name from the nightstand beside the bed. Water, and other beverages are in the fridge in the foyer/hallway upstairs outside of the rooms, with any extra amenities you may want to use, such as when you forget your toothpaste, or if you want to use the iron, etc. We went in December so the house was so eloquently decorated for Christmas. Becky always accommodates any special needs or requests for breakfast, such as nut allergies and hubs and I being vegetarian since the last time I frequented the Moss House. Becky is also always equipped with local restaurant recommendations, as well as fun things to do in the area. A little extra thing that I love, The Moss House has it's own little soap in the bathroom. They leave you a little bag to take the soap that remains home with you, so (1), you are not wasting soap by leaving it and it getting thrown away, and (2) You can enjoy the herbal soap at home, because it truly smells amazing! We've now stayed in all of the rooms available and I truly love each room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in any of them as they are all wonderfully accommodating and cozy!

Washington is a sleepy town but very pretty and peaceful. The Moss House had pleasant large rooms with modern amenities and lots of old fashioned charm. Our hosts went above and beyond to help us book dinner reservations and a sunset river cruise. They even had chocolate cupcakes to celebrate my boyfriends birthday! The rooms were very comfortable and really inviting. But the reason I will be returning? The breakfast! Both mornings the breakfast was interesting and made wonderful use of the local produce. There was plenty of fruit and local vegetables and we both indulged our sweet tooths with the pastries and sweet rolls! A fabulous find in a sleepy little town!

**Hampton Inn Washington, North Carolina - Stay Review**…read more Overall, I had a very good stay at the Hampton Inn in Washington, NC. **Check-In & Staff:** Due to issues with the digital key system, I checked in at the front desk and used a plastic key card throughout my stay, which was no problem. The night shift front desk attendant was exceptionally friendly and helpful--she's truly an asset to the company. She also thanked me for being a Gold member, which is something I rarely hear at check-in, so I appreciated that extra touch of recognition. Impressively, she was also the one who handled my checkout and addressed me by name, maintaining her professionalism from start to finish. **Cleanliness & Maintenance:** The hotel is very clean, which is one of the first things I noticed. Some remodeling is underway, so the pool and exercise room were closed, but I don't typically use those amenities, so it wasn't an issue for me. **Room Details:** My room was ample and clean, with a standard bathroom setup. The towels were thinner and smaller than I'm used to from this brand, but they were clean and sufficient. There's a hair dryer in the bathroom and a closet with an iron, hangers, ironing board, and a cotton blanket or similar. There was no luggage rack, but a wall-mounted coat hanger near the entrance was a nice touch. The room includes a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave--though the microwave did not work well (couldn't even pop a bag of popcorn). There's a small shelf area for storage, a desk with a desk chair, and plenty of lighting--four lights total, including a double lamp. The room also has a TV and conveniently placed power outlets with USB and USB-C ports. **Lighting & Noise:** Light-blocking was mixed. The bottom of the door was well-sealed, requiring a firm push to fully close it, but it did not close automatically. The sides of the door and the edges of the window coverings let in noticeable light. Hallway noise easily filled the room; there was little sound dampening. **Breakfast:** Breakfast was acceptable with some variety each day. - Day 1: Scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, grits - Day 2: Bacon, cheesy omelets, oatmeal - Day 3: Western omelets, sausage slices, breakfast potatoes, grits Blueberry and regular waffles were always available, along with breads, coffee, and other breakfast staples. The coffee bar was always stocked and never empty. One of the best features was the grab-and-go breakfast bags with a bagel, apple, peanut butter, and more--very convenient for guests in a hurry. **Other Amenities:** There is a small lobby shop with snacks and drinks. It was low on stock during my first two nights, but it was restocked by the morning of my last day with candy, sundries, and beverage options. **Summary:** Despite some minor issues like the microwave and light/noise concerns, this was an overall excellent stay. The staff, especially the night shift front desk attendant, elevated the experience with outstanding service. I'd definitely stay here again.

Walking into this house feels like stepping back in time. As you push open the heavy wooden door, the scent of aged wood fills the air. The wide-plank wooden floors creak underfoot, worn smooth by years of footsteps, yet beautifully maintained. The open foyer leads you to one of the many warm and comfortable seating rooms. Most importantly the main dining room is straight ahead, where you will enjoy not just breakfast, but a moment of indulgence, crafted with skill and passion by the owners themselves. The staircase which I would describe as the "The Gilded Climb" takes you to the second floor where many of the beautiful bedrooms are located, fully equipped with all of the amenities you would need. And if you like sleeping on a cloud, you're going to sleep like a baby in those beds. The Elmwood Bed & Breakfast Inn is not just a Bed & Breakfast, Richard and John run a boutique hotel. Feel free to choose the time and location for your morning coffee or tea, you can also do the same for your breakfast. The bar / lounge is also a great place to enjoy one of the many complimentary drinks offered, and for happy hour there is even more. It's not just a place to stay, it is an experience, a very fine one at that. Cheers!

Very run down houses, very desolate town. But, when you pull into the driveway of this house, you totally forget where you are and only focus on the huge house with the inviting front porch and bright, red door. We have never stayed at a B&B before, so we weren't sure of the protocols, so we just walked on inside and started looking around. The house is old and southern, and that is exactly what I expected. There is a huge sitting room, and a very cozy den/study that has a nice TV, leather couch, huge leather chair, desk, fridge, and thousands of books. The dining room is also cozy, and the kitchen is small but nice, but not really part of the guest experience. The real stunner is when you open the back door and see the huge porch, and gorgeous yard and gardens. A little slice of heaven in tiny Enfield. Suzann, the owner, was in the kitchen when we arrived, and she came out to greet us with huge smile on her face. She started showing us around, and led us upstairs to our room for the weekend - a very good sized room with a very nice bathroom, and a comfy, soft bed with amazingly soft sheets. The upstairs also has a huge deck so you can enjoy the view of the gardens from there too. Breakfast both mornings was delightful, and you can really taste the love and care that goes into Suzann and Wayne's cooking. The first day we had yogurt parfait, an egg fritatta, bacon, sausage, and fresh baked biscuits. All were great, but the biscuits were the star....so good!!!! The second day we started out with the yogurt parfait again, then baked apples, bacon, and strawberry lemon pancakes.....heaven! I am not a huge fan of baked apples since I despise cinamon, but these were not overloaded with cinnamon at all, and were not overcooked. This woman can cook!! Overall, I highly recommend coming here for a weekend getaway if you live within an hours drive. There is a nice State Park near by, and a very cool Waterfowl park, but other than that, not much going on within 50 miles. But, to get away and relax in a beautiful home with wonderful service, and being forced to really take everything slow and just enjoy nature and your partner is a blessing. I cannot conclude this review without mentioning Cozy. Cozy happens to be the word's sweetest golden retriever alive, and he will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside the whole weekend. He is so well behaved and loving, and I am pretty sure he knows his job is to give love to all guests so they feel right at home. Love that dog!
