Walked in, it's fairly small as fly shops go, but they had a good selection of flies (dry flies, nymphs, streamers, and even a few saltwater fiies), plus a variety of fly tying materials for those who want to tie their own. They also carried a good basic selection of fly fishing accessories. They did not carry much in the way of fly rods and waders. I talked to the two young guys running the shop and got some good information on fly fishing for my next trip out to the Bellingham area. This ended up more of a pleasant boat ride than whale watching as we didn't get to see any orcas (such a bummer!) and only got to see one single, elusive Humpback whale name Victory. I can't fault the tour for that, but it definitely impacts the experience. It was still a nice boat ride, with friendly staff onboard and the fortunate luck of sitting at the back of the boat next to a conservationist-led tour group with a lot of knowledge shared. On the brighter side, the weather was beautiful and we got to see two kinds of puffin and some sea lions as well. Just wish we got to see whales, instead of just one.

We started our day going through deception pass, down and around to south Whidbey Island where we were graced by the presence of T99 pod. Seasonal visitors who hunt seals. And they were actively hunting! They started in the deeps and quickly moved towards shore. Our crew had marine biologists on board who dictated the orca behavior to advice they are hunting a seal. The largest Barakat was easy to spy as he breached the water to body slam the seal. Ultimately they succeeded as a team. Epic trip. The crew was very knowledgeable. Captain had jokes, hating on our Seahawks..anyway. Overall , great boat, day trip, had a wonderful day.

Despite that, they refused to issue a full refund. When I booked, I expected a reasonable level of customer service and flexibility, especially for something as unpredictable as getting sick. Instead, I was met with rigid policy. It felt like they cared more about keeping my money than doing right by a customer who couldn't safely attend. I understand that businesses have cancellation policies, but there should be some level of compassion and common sense--especially when someone gives advance notice and isn't canceling last minute. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression. I would hesitate to book with them again and recommend others read the fine print very carefully before committing... because even with advance notice, you will not get a full refund if you need to cancel.

Todd was great at communicating beforehand, did a great job of telling us about the local landmarks and islands, and the best part was that there were only 6 of us on the boat! Not overly crowded like some charters can get, but enough friendly people to make conversation with. Made sure that we saw wildlife on land and aquatic wildlife. The boat was big and comfy and there was plenty of room upstairs or downstairs depending on your preference. We saw two orcas which they identified as part of a transient pod and kind of gave a backstory of how they're helping researchers with pictures and sightings because they can be another set of eyes out in nature.
