Waypoint Park has been on my Yelp bookmarks and it kindbof slipped my mind on paying attention…read morewhether it was on my list as it is a vast one. But Waypoint Park was not far from a brewery that we went to and we wanted to go take a walk afterwards. Of course the main calling card here is The Acid Ball, an old piece of equipment from a lumber mill which I believed was used to relieve pressure for wood chips during processing... but don't hold me to that. Anyway I remember where the ball used to be and saw that it was relocated to this park which isn't all that far from where it was. I saw pictures and apparently at night reflective lights shine upon it giving it all kinds of lighted looks and effects but it's still quite impressive during the day too. There were other highlights here too as the park is directed towards a waterway and towards the west you can see Lummi Island and the water. A very pleasant park to go to and it was very peaceful during the time we spent here though I'm not sure if it's like that all the time as it's by apartments (or perhaps condominiums) but it certainly was a fun stop!

I took the walk here and it was vacant which was so gorgeous. The seagulls and the pier, and it was so dang clean! Like my goodness. Took my shoes off and waded in the water for a bit. The landscaping is really something else. Take in that salty bay air and dip your feet in the water!

So some smart cookie decided a rocky knoll near the freeway could be transformed into an urban park, and a few years later we were there for the grand opening potluck! Rock Hill Park isn't easy to find (which I think makes it kinda cool), but if you do you'll find a fun place to hang out and play with the kids. There's a playground, and a shady picnic area. Being right next to the interstate means it's not real quiet, but it's definitely the oasis it was intended to be for the York Neighborhood.

If you're looking for a quintessential Bellingham park experience, look no farther than this lovely waterfront gem conveniently located just a few minutes from downtown Bham. When I lived there, it was one of my favorite places to go on a sunny day, just to take in the sights and breathe some fresh sea air. Recently, we gathered here for a Mother's Day picnic, where we spread our blankets on the ground underneath the trees, flew kites, and enjoyed some major people watching on a perfect, sunny day. From our vantage point we could also see boats out on the bay - it was magical! I wouldn't complain too loudly if they added a few more picnic tables to this park. But other than that, it's pretty fun to visit. Bonus for the clean public restrooms (located in the boathouse building)!

Start your loop from Semiahmoo Resort, take the paved path by the marina on the left side, and stop by the Alaska Packers Association Museum for a breather. Then, stroll back along the beach, where you can swap bird-watching on Drayton Harbor's side for seal-spotting in Semiahmoo Bay. And trust me, there's no shortage of seals--they're practically putting on a show! Shell hunting? Jackpot--whole oysters everywhere! It's like the beach said, "Here, have some treasure." Oh, and if you're a dog lover, this park is like doggy paradise. Picture your pup frolicking in the sun, while you hunt down those blackberries that grow all over the Drayton bay side of the path. Baker Highway, turn right just before you reach the roundabout. This single lane road will lead you past the WHS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and then the road will turn rough with gravel. Keep going about 50 more yards, and on your left, you will find about 5 parking spots in front of a grassy field. Follow the trail sign and tree-lined path to the water where you will have spectacular views of snow-capped Mt. Baker. The Nooksack river will be flowing pretty fast all year long, but is more calm along the shoreline where you might consider dipping your toes during the summer. The cold river water will feel good on a hot day. Unfortunately, the beach is rocky, so bring some sturdy water shoes for navigating the plethora of pebbles and boulders. Leashed dogs are allowed here too, but I saw plenty running free on both sides of the shore. One dog kept charging and barking at me despite his owner's best efforts to recall and control him by voice. According to one park sign, you can fish here. I'm not sure if there are designated points. I didn't see any bathroom or picnic table facilities, so "go" before you arrive and bring your own blankets, towels and chairs if you plan on hanging out. The park is open from sunrise to sunset which is great for those wanting to photograph the natural beauty of this place.

She's almost 3 but absolutely loved the "big kids" portion of the playground - so much to explore and scamper upon. The little kids playground is a bit lackluster and blasé. The playgrounds have a small fence running around the perimeter so that kids don't wander off too easily. Nearby walking paths, a large bridge, relatively clean and functional bathrooms, a large gravel parking lot, and of course a small forest complete the park. FYI the big kids' playground has a bizarrely slippery and sleek steep bridge on it - would consider refiguring or resurfacing this bridge. There were also a decent amount of cigarette butts on the edge of the parking lot.

This isolates it from the street traffic and probably provides a nice noise-free barrier for home owners in the area. The other barrier is a fenced industrial building that you hardly notice because of the trees and shrubs that obscure it from view. If your dog likes to wander off and is not good with name recall, you might not want to take your dog off-leash here because this is not a fully fenced/gated park. There are about 5, free parking stalls on 4th Street. This is also the beginning of a flat trail to the park which winds along a shaded canopy of trees with lush greenery on either side. The short, dirt trail leads you to a wide open area with tall grass. On the perimeter is a crushed-gravel loop that is probably about a quarter of a mile long. Park benches can be found along the way...some in the sun and others shaded by trees. There is another entrance further up the hill on 4th Street, but you have to find street parking. Plus, the dirt trail is steep at this entrance and descends at a 30% grade into the far-end of the park. Not a problem for young spry dogs, but something to consider for seniors with achy joints. There are usually just a few dogs here at any one time, and I've not yet ran into any aggressive dogs or unconcerned, dog owners. Some dogs play with each other in the tall grass, but there is plenty of space for dogs that don't want to play to enjoy exploring the smells in the flora and fauna along the path. I love that this park takes advantage of the natural landscape. The dogs seem to like it too because it provides a nice break from suburbia with an opportunity for both physical and mental stimulation.

The only downside is that it's almost always muddy and the terrain is covered with pools of fetid-smelling water that has nowhere to drain.
