This mural is one of many nice and interesting murals in the city of Louisville. You can actually make a day of just visiting murals as many of them are in the same general area. I made my own free outdoor art gallery. It was a fun day.
It is located in the Smoketown area of This mural is the creation of Liz Richter and shows a woman breastfeeding a child. Its intent was to champion public breastfeeding. I really liked the colors used in the piece and its message.
In speaking about the piece, Richter said "There is both a national and local need for additional dialogue around supporting mothers' physical and mental health and wellness, especially for African American families ...I would like to bring attention to the mothers or caregivers of children and the concerns they are facing."
There is lots of free street parking available to for you to get out and check out the mural. However, it is not a very long stop and you probably could accomplish what you want to in the comfort of your vehicle. So, as I have mentioned, it is best to plan out stops at many of the other wonderful murals that are within a mile or two of this one and make a day of it. read more
