We were actually headed there but I wanted ice cream first, so it worked out perfect. My second impression was, "How cute, it's got a 50s theme." And yeah, they did a pretty good job of that. My third impression? "Holy cow they're serving ice cream in REAL dishes." I guess to keep with the theme, but still... not a paper cup - GLASS. Not a plastic spoon that will bend when you hit the peanut butter swirl, but a METAL one. Color me impressed. And the lady serving it up... she was super sweet and very helpful for the gluten-free issues I face. Hubs had the peach cobbler (made in-house!) with vanilla on top and said it was pretty good. I had some double-chocolate fudge thing that was especially delicious. No, it's not the best premium-grade ice cream (it's not Kilwins), but the atmosphere, service, and fact that it was still pretty darn good more than makes up for that. Not to mention, you're not going to pay Kilwins prices for these huge scoops.

We love supporting local businesses but this was too bad not to point out its major flaws. The service is pretty slow considering it's like Mall food. The ambiance is nice and fun, good shade and the games are fun, I will give it that. For the food... I was continually saddened. We got the queso and chips from the notcho nachos... lacked flavor, tasted like water and was runny like water. So I got a nice watery "cheese" for $6. Yay.. I then got the Korean bbq tenders and rice from the Korean restaurant . I normally love Korean bbq flavors, but I couldn't even eat more than 2 strips, the sauce was not good and barely covered the chicken, and the chicken itself was bland and with no seasoning. The rice was also dry and not very good, for about $16. The portion was a good size, but it wasn't worth it at all. My husband got the two sliders from the slider joint, they also had zero flavor despite having a good amount of toppings the meat was seriously lacking. He got 2 sliders and some fries for $15. Then dessert... I was SO excited when we first came to try their Liege Waffles. By the time we were eating our food, my faith was diminishing but I was holding out. I lived in Brugge, Belgium and had liege waffles everyday, delicious. I got the Nutella and strawberry liege waffle, for $11, incredibly sad. The dough was bland, the pearl sugar hadn't even dissolved and was still crunchy and the strawberries were like the frozen kind that were thawed out. It could have used more Nutella to drown out the disgrace of the waffle. Liege waffles are pretty simple to make and only cost about $2 dollars to make.... I shouldn't have trusted it to be good, as they also sell waffles with chicken... savory food goes with Belgian waffles NOT liege waffles, there's a difference. I'm so disappointed, I will not be back, and I will not be referring anyone to eat here. Overall, the food could barely be considered "okay" especially for the prices. Waste of money, waste of time, and tmi but my husband and I have been on the toilet nonstop since.

Fast forward...My spouse wanted to get an afternoon treat so, I looked up some places and surprisingly saw Rita's. We were greeted with big smiles , super friendly service and a super clean facility. My spouse got a peanut butter mudslide concrete and I got a mango Gelati. If I will say myself, it's just as great as I remember and to me, better than the competition around. I think people really just don't know about Rita's and how good it is. So this is me getting the word out. Do yourself a favor and go get some Rita's. You'll thank me for telling you and then thank yourself for going later.

The employee that made it actually apologized when he handed it to me (stating that it was runny). I took it to the table thinking it wouldn't be that bad. Unfortunately, I was wrong...it was horrible. I returned to the counter and asked if it could be remade because it was too runny. The employee asked the employee that made the Mix and was told "no, that's how they are". This was not my first Braum's Mix, but it will be my last at this location. Honesty goes a long way. I can understand a mistake, malfunctioning equipment, and a host of other problems.
