My BLT was good but could've been a bit thicker. His pork chop sandwich was good along w good fries. My bottled soda would've cost an additional $1.06 if I was given a styrofoam cup with ice. Nope. Hope the server made a mistake on that one??!

Ed's was BUSY! A line to be seated and an even longer line for takeout. I got a little two top next to the stools at the counter. It was fun hearing all the chatter coming from the hardworking folks in the kitchen. Service is attentive and to the point. I got a couple of hot dogs with chili, mustard, and slaw on them. They came out quickly and everything was piping hot. Standard chili and slaw and bun. Nothing amazing but nothing to find fault with either. I took my check to the window, paid, and was out in about 15 minutes. A nice little place to grab a bite in Whiteville.

Walking in, it raised many memories of my youth: not fancy or particularly clean (especially the restrooms) yet greeted by pleasant smiles, friendly servers & staff, always more important to me/us! Our server was quick with taking and returning with our drink orders. She followed with attention to the time we needed to decide on our orders. Further, she was one of only 2 servers of a completely full dining room! I'm so disappointed I didn't get her name...I just didn't want to interrupt her industrious focus. Each of the 4 of us ordered a brunch item: eggs, omelette, and waffle with either country ham, bacon, sausage and/or grits, and coffee, that my husband stated "was the BEST!" A disappointment I do have is the condition of the restroom. It neglects an opportunity to reflect the positive qualities of the "front of the house" yet, we would return to Waffle International if ever passing through again.

Pulling up to this place you can tell that this is visibly a hole in the wall restaurant. The outside looked tired (old) and is not appealing to customers. But, it was still busy, as this is cited as the "best breakfast" in Whiteville. That is undeniably subjective. When you walk in you will notice that most things look dirty (except your table). The floor is sticky, the bathrooms are dirty, and the paint on the wall is peeling. It is also dark on the inside (poor lighting). Our food took about an hour to get to our table. My waffle was actually great, meanwhile my eggs and bacon and all of my dad's food were cold. This is because our server left our food that came out first sitting instead of giving it to us, and waited for my waffle to come out. We would have rather had that food first while it was hot, and I would have been fine with getting my waffle afterwards. That was disappointing. What bumps it up to 2 starts instead of 1 is the service. Our server was nice, and frequently checked on ALL of her tables.

The door entrance is very welcoming with flowers and outside shaded seating. Orders are taken at one end of the counter (near entry door) and picked up at the other end of counter. Bathrooms are kept locked, and are entered from the outside (but it was clean). They have a drive-through which keeps them very busy. It took about 12 minutes for my single sandwich order to be ready but the staff was friendly and apologetic for the delay while they were hustling to fill orders, so I can't complain. It was obvious they were busy and working hard. My sub was made to order and tasted good.

It took us a while to our sandwiches (4 cheese melt and steak melt) but the staff were very patient and answered all our questions. We decided to eat outside and our food was delivered with a smile. Bread was thick and nicely browned, like Texas toast. 4 cheeses included pepper Jack which was a surprise, and may have been mentioned. That cheese was also in the steak, and that was fine. Steak was strictly ok, not a lot of meat taste but nice consistency. Added mushrooms were plentiful and tasty. Both sandwiches were large enough to fill hungry travelers. Overall I'm glad we stopped and tried Sun-sational. If we once again find ourselves in Whiteville I would stop and try something else, because all the sandwiches looked creative and a good value. Recommended!

It was a perfect night to eat in the open air, unless you're downwind from a lady standing near the entrance smoking a cigarette , which we were, unfortunately. We never did get the waters we asked for, but our pizza and chicken Gorgonzola were excellent...even on the wobbly table from which we ate! Our server was working her tail off, because according to another server, they were short three people. This place is a staple in Etown, and it will most likely be around for a long to come.

To give you an idea, my husband and I ate there this evening and here's what we had (all excellent). Appetizers: tuna tartare with capers, wasabi, sesame seeds, lettuce, and crisps. It was well balanced and delicious. The other appetizer was Cambodian Spring Rolls, which were perfectly browned, and eaten by placing them in a romaine lettuce leaf with crumbled peanuts and dipping it in an amazing but light sauce. The textures and flavors played off of each other wonderfully, elevating it far above any regular spring roll you may be thinking of. For entrees, my husband had the special, Paella (saffron rice, mussels, shrimp, clams, and a whole crab, red bell pepper). Every item was perfectly cooked, neither undercooked nor overcooked and it tasted fantastic. My entree was perfectly cooked pan-seared salmon filet, with perfectly grilled large asparagus and the most amazing take on grits I have ever had (not your mama's breakfast grits). They were delicately flavored with butter, a hint of cheese and I don't know what else but it understated while still having flavors that seemed too complex for grits to have, without being overdone. There are menu items for both the more and less adventurous diner, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. A gem in the middle of nowhere.
