We get it. There's a tornado warning. Don't take over the broadcast for over an hour. Overkill.

With the seemingly eminent demise of the Orlando Sentinel daily paper, we are left with Orlando's…read more'alternative paper,' the Weekly. It mostly focuses on entertainment, so if you need to know who's playing where and what the drink specials are, this is your up to date source. Of course, on the back pages you'll find lots of ads for "outcall masseuses" and phone sex lines, but it still has some interesting content. Steve Schneider is sometimes brilliant, Billy Manes is everyones favorite gay scenester, and Happytown and Council Watch can be a fascinating read. Be sure to take the restaurant reviews with a grain of salt, though; although well written, they tend to praise their advertisers. How can you complain, its published every Thursday and its FREE!

The content is really kind of "one track mind", and customer relations and community feedback are ignored often, but if you want to know the best place in town for a beer, burger, or vegan hot dog.... this is the paper to read. Also, know the latest "best friends" in the local music and art scenes by reading the "best of " mentions or local reviews. Just don't forget that it's operating on mostly a buddy system and many fantastic artists in Orlando are often just not credited. Ear and eyes open for the under dogs! ;-) It's an alright ALTERNATIVE paper.

Wow!! Love this free event that Creative City Orlando puts on!…read moreWhy the heck did it take me 11 years to get here.? IMMURSE was amazing!. 10 city blocks of Music art and dance. Eye candy on every corner! I loved the short shows. We also got to see Blue Man group and Circle Soleil..! Next year I'm going both days Friday and Saturday. I didn't get to go into the blow up thing by Dr Phillips I'll try that next year. We came on Friday night and prepaid for parking It was easy and we got here early at 5:00 p.m.. I think next year I'll get here around 6:00 p.m. because that's when everything actually starts to get going. They also have a market where you can buy handmade items.

Love Creative City Project! They put on some amazing events in the Orlando area. Most recently we…read moreattended Immerse, the downtown art festival. This event has always been one of my favorites so I was SO happy to hear it was returning after so many years! We got there a little after 6 on Friday night and it took us til about 9:30 to see everything. We watched Cirque de Soleil first which was honestly kind of disappointing, the entire show was less than 5 minutes, they did one song. I was expecting a 10-ish minute show. After they finished everyone just stood around, wondering if that was it or if something else was going to happen. We wandered around the area in front of Dr Phillips, we did not pay to go inside to ride the unicorn slide or sit on the dragonfly swing but they were still beautiful to see! We also stumbled upon a really neat scavenger hunt by a local artist so it was fun looking for clues. As we wandered we saw an aerial show by a local studio that was great! Overall there was so much to look at and interact with, it was a great time. We watched Blue Man Group which was highly entertaining! Towards the end of our journey we wandered down Church St and saw the oddities show and the alleyway for Nectar was SO beautifully done. Overall this was a wonderful event, i'm so happy it's back. Art is so important to every community and I love that so many different types of art were able to be showcased in the City Beautiful.
