Strongly agree with DP. My delivery person is great and I just mailed a holiday "tip" THEN the new renewal bill came. For several years my Th/Sun subscription was $19.20 for a YEAR. With NO warning they are charging me $$12.28 for 4 MONTHS !!! That's nearly 4x the original amount....with NO warning. Bill arrived right on the holiday week with only the Philippine contact available. I am cringing in advance at the communication mess.I am already expecting the cancellation mess. $49 is TOO MUCH after $19.20 !!! This is a rating for the owners of the paper who clearly are not local and don't care enough to spend the money to pay for quality customer service. I have been a subscriber for many years, off and on, mostly because I get so disgusted with the group that does "customer service". This time I'm off for good. I resubscribed 6/26/75 for 13 weeks which should have ended 9/18. About 2 weeks in I received a new invoice saying my subscription would end on 8/7 (6 weeks before it should) because of a "special edition" for $15.99. I have no idea what that "special edition" was, but I have never seen one from the Sentinel worth $15.99. Then I received another invoice saying my subscription ended on 7/13 (nonsense because I'm still receiving the paper.) I am done with being jerked around. The owners save money using them but if they lose a subscriber like me, is it really a good business decision? This is an addendum to the review I wrote on the 3rd: NEVER LET THEM HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR CREDIT CARD OR BANK ACCOUNT! If I could give zero stars, I would. We have had - and still have - delivery issues. Our paper wasn't delivered this past Thursday; we were told it would be redelivered. It wasn't. We didn't receive our paper today, either, but didn't bother to call on a Sunday - and we knew nothing much would happen. Any time we speak with a representative, we are told that if they don't redeliver, we will be credited for our missing papers - only the credit isn't financial; the credit comes in the form of adding an additional day to our subscription. The price of this horrible newspaper continues to go up, and the service continues to deteriorate. When we find a good replacement for local news, we'll be done with the Sentinel. read more

What a ripoff! I had a subscription for my mother for the Sun/Thurs paper, two papers per week. I was originally paying $93.46 quarterly. That jumped to $186.91 MONTHLY!! For two papers a week! They stated it was an increased charge for "premium" content. I didn't order premium content. My mother is 89 years old; she just wants a newspaper. When I told them to cancel my subscription, they offered me a rate of $96.92 quarterly. OK so, if I can get the paper for that price, I want my charges for $186.91 reduced. The Orlando sentinel seems to have problems with delivering the paper on the days you scheduled to deliver it. They also like to put extra magazines in the paper charge you for that so that your subscription runs out before it's supposed to. Calling to let them know that your service dog cannot pick up a heavy paper does not seem to matter to them whatsoever. Customer service is inaudible and rude. Let's see how this goes. Called in November when I saw my digital subscription was $44 per month. When I talked the the rep, who was very difficult to understand, they told me they would lower it to $14 per month. Did not happen. Called again three months later and was told they would apply the $90 difference over the next 6 months. I will see next month if they charge my card again. Here is my issue. If I call to cancel my subscription because $528 a year for digital is ridiculous, why are the able to give me a $168 rate??? I hate being ripped off and having to complain when it happens. Goodbye Orlando Sentinel. You are terminated! The Orlando Sentinel customer service and delivery are a disaster. The service has been regressing for years and now it is gone. Don't waste your time, money and energy looking for a paper delivery every morning because you will be disappointed. We have been subscribers to this paper for many, many years. We had a wonderful delivery woman who promptly delivered our paper every morning with a smile and a cheery hello. But something must have happened to her and the paper has apparently not replaced her. My credit card is billed as always, but the paper has not been delivered in weeks. l call the customer service phone number every day to request re-delivery, but it still doesn't come. The company that recently took over this paper seems to be determined to run it into the ground. This local news source was essential to our community, but it seems clear that it is gone. My father-in-law pays over $1,000 a year to get his paper delivered. At least every 10 days a paper is undelivered, or two papers are delivered the next day... that day's and the one that should have been delivered yesterday. Today he got yesterday's Sunday paper along with today's. If I spent over one thousand dollars in your business year over year, how might you treat me as a customer? Sad to see our local paper's subscription service so poorly run. They keep telling me I am getting charged every eight weeks but continue to charge every four, which means I'm paying twice as much. I wish I could give this review a 0 but unfortunately, the system won't let me. Hubby and I ordered the paper but it never started. No one reaches out to us, nothing. I email their CS team and they kindly reply that our delivery person can't find our apartment. I confirm address and apartment building name. A week goes by-no paper. I reach out again and our delivery person insists that we are missing a digit or letter in our address. I've been somewhat calm this whole time because stuff happens but now I'm livid. I send a screenshot of my apartment door and tell them that what post office has on file! I've NEVER had any issue with getting mail! It gets better. After telling them to cancel, they say ok, effective February 2019! Wait, what! Weeks go by and I reach out again to ask why and have I been refunded. THE BIG SCAM...The Orlando Sentinel delivers my newspaper, on average, once every three days. This has been going on for the past 16 months. However, they never credit my account claiming, "we have no way of knowing if your paper was delivered." I call BS on that. The delivery people only get paid for the papers they delivery, so they have to file delivery reports daily. HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP END THIS HUGE SCAM... Keep track of the days your newspaper is not delivered. At the end of each week, call them at 407-420-5353 and request a refund for each day missed. If enough people to this, they may finally get the message and get their act together. I have had delive problems for the last five (5) months. I have Thurs and Sunday paper delivered. The thursday paper is not delivered at least 1/to 2 times a month. I call customer service and I'm told 1. Paper will be delivered by 4pm.... doesn't happen. Call back Friday and I'm told sorry I called too late for a redelivery. It doesn't matter what time you call. You farm out your customers service to a Land of the non English speaking world. I like to receive Thurs for the Publix ad. A highly deceptive newspaper regarding subscriptions. Any trial will force you into some 'automatic subscription' you did not want or chose. When confronted, the sentinel says they are 'sorry' for the problem but keep your money. I enjoyed the Orlando coverage, but this paper is not worth the subscription. Go UCF! read more

Since June 2023 I have tried to have a 7 day subscription. The Sentinel was quick to charge my credit card for the promotional rate of $95, but now over 6 weeks and I had not gotten the paper. After calling customer service which is in the Philippines, 5 times with a promise to find out and let me know why. Only after I got my CC company involved did someone call me back. They then explained that they do not deliver to my address in Sanford. 6 weeks to find that out?? Thanks to my CC company, they have credited the amount charged. I recommend staying away from the Orlando Sentinel until they get rid of Philippines customer service. If I were an advertiser paying the Sentinel to promote my product I would find another means to advertise. read more
