I searched online for some sort of temporary nail since it will also be pedicure season soon, and such a thing actually DOES exist: the Keryflex nail restoration (look it up, there is a cool video on the company's website). My nail eventually fell off, and while it isn't pretty, it is fortunately on a small toe and only half the nail. But then I started thinking that if dermatologists have medical facials, do podiatrists have medical pedicures? Yes, they do and you can get one right here with Dr. Thompson! I take good care of my feet, try to use good moisturizers throughout the winter and scrub those calluses while in the shower, but I decided I needed professional help and wanted a professional to verify that my half-nail looked "OK". Dr. Thompson has online booking, but I sent a message through the website first as I wasn't sure if a new patient needed to do anything first before booking? She replied back in about 15 minutes (on a weekend!) so I booked online for a few days later. I live in Boston, but in the middle of a weekday it was a really quick drive and her office is right off Route 3. I had so many questions, and how often do you find yourself sitting with a podiatrist who is a wealth of info?? Final Result: my feet are SO SOFT, there is no way that any salon could have tackled my calluses in the same way. She used both a scalpel and a drill (fear not, everyone) and now I have 10 normal looking toes (well, 9.5) and feet so soft it has been decades since they have felt this way. Since I give my feet a break every winter from pedicures and polish, this is definitely what I will do each fall and spring to get my feet back in shape. Fortunately I don't have any other foot issues right now, but if I do I know who to call!!

I saw Dr. Riley a number of years ago for a plantar wart on my big toe. Before you say EWWW, like I…read moredid, Dr. Riley explained that usually these kind of warts are genetic and essentially come and go as they please. Stigma, gone! I saw Dr. Riley for about a year, maybe more, to treat my poor big toe. He was caring, professional, informed, patient, and just generally a pleasure to work with. He always answered my questions in terms I could understand. He also always gave me the full range of treatment options and costs, and was respectful of all of my decisions for care/treatment. The receptionist, Mrs. Riley, is a total love. She was very sweet, always accommodating, and very professional. After the year or so I had been going for treatment my plantar wart just disappeared on it's own, poof! I'm kinda sad actually because now I don't get to see Dr. and Mrs. Riley on a weekly basis :(

With a perpetually bum left foot (it just doesn't do me any favors; it's an appendage that just…read moretakes, takes, takes and never gives back), one of my first to-do's upon moving into town, was to find a new podiatrist. I did a quick Google search and found that Dr. O'Leary was quite close to my house. I called the office and found out he takes my insurance and is accepting new patients - so great! The receptionist was friendly, informative and just so nice. She very quickly found me an appointment (had I been available, they had a slot just two days later) on a Saturday morning (great office hours for any working folks) and someone followed up with a confirmation call to collect the bulk of my info so the amount of paperwork at my first appointment wasn't too crazy. On Saturday, I arrived early, but alas, the doc was running behind. That's to be expected IMO. Dr. O'Leary took me about 18 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, but I never felt rushed or like he wasn't giving me as much attention as other patients might have received. When he x-ray'd my foot, he even gave me photocopies to keep for myself (I was able to go home and wave them around exclaiming, "see, I wasn't making up this foot pain!") He was able to provide me with a same day cortisone shot and tape my foot up for some extra arch support. It was just great service and Dr. O'Leary has a wonderful, friendly bed-side manner. For me, I don't think I could have found a better podiatrist in the area!

Waited over 1/2 hour while listening to the Doctor talking to the 2 patients that were seen ahead…read moreof me like it was old home week. There were still 3 people ahead of me and there was no ability to see when I would be brought in. The current patient had been in there just as I arrived. Very aggravating to know should I have walked in 1/2 hour late I would be turned away but at the rate he was going I would have been in that office well over an hour. Plus my co- pay of $50 wasn't returned right away because " I don't know how to do that". Watching to see if it gets done. That was my last visit there.
