I did some classes with a specific niche dance teacher who isn't a "regular" teacher at this studio…read morebut instead paid to use the space. This review isn't about the teacher but about everything else. So if you're thinking about using them for your own rental (or booking for photo shoots like their site mentions), this review is for you. Every time I was there one of the two owners would sit and watch the majority of the class with their pet dog that would lounge on the furniture at the front or in their retail area. It's really inappropriate and distracting. One time someone stepped in dog crap inside and tracked it around the front seating area. Just... ew. Gross. Do these ladies bring their pets when they teach or is it only when someone else pays to use the space? One of the owners micromanaged the sound level the whole time she was there. Mind you, the speaker never popped or crackled or hit a level to worry about damaging it, nor were the neighboring businesses open to complain... I'm still laughing about it because their site boasts that they have quality sound but then don't want to let you use it. And then the chiming in when she had no business because it wasn't her class. If I wanted a boomer's opinion about something I would call my mom. From a student's perspective, this is objectively a nice studio space... If the floors didn't have a hump in one section, a ton of windows with no curtain thus blinding half the room perfectly with reflections from the sun, and a lingering buzzkill while you're trying to enjoy a class. I understand they're probably paranoid about their merchandise growing legs and walking off, but is there nothing they could do in a back corner to not feel like they're being a spectator? The decoration is cute, they have rotating artists set up their work, and this place has a lot of potential to be great. But either they need to have a system to trust the person teaching and give them a spare key (there's interior cameras...) or they need to figure out better customer service skills. It's like the boomeriest boomer that ever boomed opened up a business so they had something to do with their time. I wish these two the best of luck with their other classes and hope my experiences are unique to the times I was there.

You can really tell the owner has a passion for dance and loves helping people become confident with themselves and teaching them how to move. They were learning a "So You Think You Can Dance" routine when I visited and everybody looked like they were having a blast. If I wasn't taking down quotes and snapping photos, I definitely would have wanted to get up and learn some dance routines as well. The owner is really involved in the community and regularly works with the blind and visually impaired to offer them dance lessons, in addition to teaching children through the Palm Harbor Public Library. One of the kids was there and showed off her dance moves in front of everyone, it was really cool. One family drove down all the way from the east coast for the week just to have their daughter learn some ballroom dancing. Last year this studio was featured on "So You Think You Can Dance" so I think that is a pretty awesome thing to happen for Tampa Bay and for the owner. If I lived in Palm Harbor, I would definitely check out some classes when I have some down time.

While I was working out…read morethere, attempting to do some Ashthanga (a method of yoga that requires a lot of core and upper body strength, things I'm lacking!) an attractive obviously fit young lady approached me and asked me if I was working on Ashtanga. Her name is Miranda and after chit chatting with her for several minutes, I learned that she taught at a local yoga studio up the road. She informed me that the studio offered Mysore Ashtanga as well as other forms of yoga. I figured that was an invitation to go check it out. The building is located in a strip of shops and I went on a Sunday morning so there was ample parking. I walked in a few minutes prior to class and was greeted by Miranda who checked me in. As I was waiting for class to begin, she showed me where the bathrooms and "community mats" were located as well as areas to store your things. (There were no lockers, but the studio is locked while class is in session. Also, they don't charge a rental fee for the community mats.) There's a small coffee table with magazines and couches for you to wait and if you don't want to wait in the studio. The bathroom is clean and has one shower. The studio itself is spacious and is equipped with bolsters and blocks. There is a large mirror to the left side as you walk in so you can check out your form (or those yogis and yoginis with nice derrieres without being too obvious!) I attended an "Ashtanga fusion" class with Miranda which was a combination Vinyasa class with several traditional Ashtanga moves mixed in throughout the session. The class was a good work out, yet all levels of practitioners could adjust and modify poses as needed. It cost me $10 for drop in rate. If you want to do a traditional Ashtanga or Mysore class (which they offer almost every morning, but not Sundays), the drop in rate is $15. They take cash or credit cards. There are also items from Nepal for sale such as mala bracelets and necklaces. They have their schedule as well as a description of the classes and instructor bios online. You can schedule classes through the Mind and Body app or just show up and register there. Thank you Miranda for introducing yourself and for leading a much needed session! It's too bad I met your towards the end of my vacation. Definitely check out The Yoga Room if you're into Ashtanga and even if you're not, check it out anyway if you like yoga or if "you're not into yoga" as the song goes, then hit Clearwater Beach. I will go as far and say that the Friday classes are just as important if not more so than any group dance class you take with her. It's like learning a language and then going into the real world to put it to practice. We just knocked off one star because the back room used for some of the beginner's classes lacks good ventilation and one time we went for a class it smelled very strongly like smoke.
