Horrible to deal with every time I've had to call I end up sitting on hold for over an hour to get through to somebody

This company is absolutely awful. The poor reviews are warranted. If you are an HR person and you are considering this company, do your employees a favor and keep looking. If this review is not helpful to you, Consider 400+ reviews and the average rating is 1 out of 5!!! The amount of hours I have spent tracking down documents, and on the phone with them is ridiculous. They will put a hold on your debit card for small amounts until you resolve the issue with them. That means that if you have an emergency like an ER visit and you want to use your debit card, you have to call them to unfreeze your card until you resolve the issue with them. It is NOT a benefit to have this FSA company. I have had other FSA companies but never had the trouble I've had with this company. They really do make you think twice before using your card. I'm not one for conspiracy theories but it does feel like they don't want you to use your card. Like they are hoping to wear you down and get you to leave your money there until you windup losing it. With everything else in life, I don't need to be made to micromanage another thing. Please consider the low ratings, in this case, they are a true indicator of the terrible experiences that await you. They are so bad I am writing a positive review for my previous FSA company because I see now that they were wonderful and really miss them now. read more

After 40-yrs in software biz I would rate this company's sign-in the worst of the worst. They offer multiple sign-ins which all sound about the same. If you only sign in once or twice a year get ready to sign in to a few of their options before you find the one that accepts your username and password. This sign in reflects on a company that just doesn't care about their Users. No more time or effort to waste on review other than to say get rid of anyone in management associated with their sign in pages. read more

Everytime I send a detailed receipt in they say it is not detailed enough and will not reimburse. Save yourself the headache and do NOT use this company. Then they asked for the whole booklet of my insurance company. Not worth your time or money even if it is a tax break. read more

When the card would not work, we contacted them to understand what is going on. They gave us the runaround for months and then finally we got a supervisor's help and he said sorry you just lost thousands of dollars because you didn't contact us in time. That was when we were been trying to contact them the whole entire time. I feel like we got completely scammed! We told the supervisor that we've been trying to get help for months, that we got no information about this account the entire time I've been a member, and nobody was helpful and he didn't even seem to care! I would only accept their benefits if you are willing to lose all your money! read more

How is it okay that we have been waiting on a card that was never mailed out to start with My husband cannot get a hold of a supervisor to solve the mess that we are in The replacement card that was supposed to be mailed out on 12/13/2019 a was never mailed out after all A representative with Discovery Benefits lied to my husband that the card went out on the 12/13/2019 and we would receive it in the mail on 12/27/2019 Today another representative is telling him that the card has just been mailed out today. What is the point of mailing out the card today and we will not be able to salvage the $2500 plus that's on the card before the deadline of 12/31/2019? Why wont someone pick up the phone and explain why this card was never sent out despite the numerous calls and being told the card was sent out when it was never sent out Why is it when my husband asked on the status of the card they would not provide him that information? This was a deliberate move to not send us our card on time so we don't get to use the funds so it can go back to DB? We demand an explanation, we will not stop writing to the Vice Presidents at Discovery Benefits Participants Services Department and even on Social Media. I posted my complaint on their Facebook page and it was taken down. I sent a message on the DB Facebook account. The message was read on Saturday and to date no response I will post the screen shots of all the executive leadership at Discovery Beneficiary we have contacted via LinkedIn and we shall not stop until someone gives us answers This is broad day light robbery!!! Discovery Benefits is a world leader in terms of providing terrible customer service. Unfortunately, I've been a Health Savings Account customer of DB for four years. When I call them, at least 9 out of 10 times the DB phone Rep claims that I do NOT have an account with them. "No account found...I cannot transfer your call...I cannot put a supervisor on the phone...are you sure you are calling the right company?" I know I have an account, I get monthly statements from DB! I sent a letter to the firm's President, John Biwer, asking for a call back. He never responded to my letter, nor did anyone else at Discovery Benefits. Discovery Benefits has denied 4 of my payments. Two for the dentist and two for the pediatrician. I sent in receipts and still got denied because I "needed an itemized receipt". I can see how something might not be covered at the dentist (I think) but at the pediatrician? I decide I'm done wasting my time making phone calls and I'll just pay it back so I can use (mostly my) money on something else before the end of my coverage... I log onto the phone app which reads, "Please visit Consumer Online Account to make the repayment." So, I go online, login & cannot find anywhere to repay the money. Most of the time when I need to pay for something, it's pretty easy. Companies are happy to take my money. There's usually a big fat PAY button to click. Not the case here. I guess I will call this week. This kind of thing just drains me. I have used FHA for years and have never had as much trouble as I've had after my company switched to Discovery Benefits this year. We are living in world of emails, system-to-system integrations, phone calls and still it takes 15 "business" days to communicate about activating my insurance after COBRA premium payment. 15 business days is 3 weeks, that is more than half of a month. Their customer service won't even help with updating the coverage status on request. I cannot use my insurance when there is a need. Insurance company Customer service asks to talk with Discovery Benefits and these people ask to talk with Insurance Company. Also, paying out-of-pocket is NOT an option when you are opting for COBRA insurance. You get COBRA insurance when you no longer have a job. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. They are the absolute worst. They will harass you about almost every medical charge and you will have to provide proof when the charge is clearly medical. They will ask you for personal medical information that is none of their business. When you don't provide them with the information they want soon enough, they will shut off your card and prevent you from using the money you put in. This company needs to be investigated. I don't normally review, but my experience has been so terrible I had to! I have had MANY fsa cards over the years, and this is by far the worst. Almost every single dr visit needs a receipt. Oh sorry, not just a receipt (that will get denied too) an EXPLANATION and breakdown of why you were seen. So they can approve whether MY OWN money can be used. Never have I had to beg and plead for such a thing. If you don't do this, you will have to go through the embarrassment of having your card declined when you try to use it for a co-pay. Last week I logged in to find 4 legit transactions denied. I took an hour logging onto my insurance providers website and getting a detailed EOB for each visit. I woke up this morning to find 1of the claims still denied. SO frustrating. I will not be giving any of my money to them next year. As others have said, it's not worth the savings at all. I'm also going to send an email to my employer asking them to please consider another company, and hopefully enough of my coworkers have done the same. read more

In response to Hayden from Discovery Benefits... On the website, when going thru recurring payments, it states: "A $20.00 convenience fee will be added to all online payments. If you would like to pay for multiple premium months, you will need to make multiple online payments. A $20.00 convenience fee will be added to each online payment transaction." Once I finally get a hold of someone there, hopefully this isn't true. So you either need to update your info on the website when doing recurring payments, or you're just lying. One more thing, because I started coverage mid-month, my rate was prorated (which I paid last month). I'm now trying to pay in full for the current month, but I'm getting an error "Invalid Payment Amount - A maximum of one premium month may be paid in a single transaction". I'm current and just want to pay for the current month, you'd think that'd be simple. Horrible all around! read more

Horrible customer service. All I need was my username. Tried 3 communication channels: website, email and chat. Failed on all 3. On hold for hour without ever reaching an agent. Sent 2 request to have username sent. No emails every received.(not even in my spam filter) Was in Chat for 10 minutes without any response. To put it bluntly, this company is a pain in the @$$. I have an HSA in which my employer contributes the funds -- that is part of my compensation package, so it's my money, and I don't spend the money at Walgreens on chips and soda and beer -- but somehow they think they can make denials over how I spend my money on my family, and I get receipt requests for small prescription purchases. I don't have time for that; I'm a busy professional, and they are supposed to offer a service. I certainly have complained to my school's HR and to ICUBA, because I pray they contract some other company that is truly interested in service down the road. This company sucks. read more

I've had a DCFSA account for approximately 3 months, attempted to do a simple transfer of funds, with copy of checks and documentation. 2 claims denied. back to back. I've filled out the form they provided me and the claim was still denied. I doubt I will use this account going forward. Unfortunately I have read all the negative Yelp reviews AFTER I signed up for this account and they are accurate. Horrible service do not sign up for this account. Hopefully our HR selects a different provider. the process is a headache and they are delaying access to our own money. read more

This company is the worst. I used my FSA card at a local hospital. The hospital's name is on the bill. Wex/Discovery Benefits won't pay it without further documentation. I used my card at my dentist's office. The name of the dental practice is on the bill. Again, Wex/Discovery Benefits won't pay it without further documentation. I called their customer service. The CSR asked for my name and date of birth, both of which I provided. But then he wanted my whole social security number. I provided the last four digits but that wasn't good enough. When I refused to give him the whole number, he hung up on me. Wex/Discovery Benefits acts like they're doing you a favor. They're not a customer service organization. Do yourself a favor, avoid them like the plague. read more

This debit card does not even work trying to get something on the approved list. I do not want to get reimbursed, I want to use this card!!!!! My husband's place of employment does not use this vendor for FSA HSA benefits and I just swipe his card and do not have to be REIMBURSED at a later date. I will not be signing up next year. For the three years I've been using Discovery through my employer, I've had about 20% of all my FSA purchases questioned by this provider, and each time I've submitted valid receipts to justify those purchases. If I had a choice of FSA vendors, I would drop Discovery immediately. I've had accounts with multiple FSA providers over the years and Discovery is by far the worst of them all. Discovery benefits is a complete NIGHTMARE to deal with. I have them through my employers FSA account so given its all MY money that is still being used to pay for this. But, I have had nothing but headaches and extreme stress dealing with this company. My family and I have health insurance and as we all know that using health insurance versus paying out of pocket is just not money saving. So, we opted out using our insurance and decided to just make a payment plan using this benefit card. Let me tell you how much of a pain it is. I have submitted every kind of receipt that the doctors office can possibly print out and even submitted my contract of my payment plan to them. They still refuse to pay the damn bill and continues to suspend my card. I've spoken to customer service and they are no help and don't even make any sense. They are now asking me for an EOB (which my insurance can't give me because they have no proof cause I am not using it). So, now I am sitting here with a notice of repayment cause they can't get it together and figure this out. And, FSA money that I can not use because they keep suspending my card. read more

Just had to change my password and login not long ago (yeah they make you do this every so often) I wrote it down on piece of paper, taped it the monitor, its still hanging there right in front of me, and of course, now it wont work. (this seems to be a very common issue as well, along with uncountable other issues with these people) Been trying for over an hour to reset my password, and of course the web site just keeps tossing errors back at me. Don't get cobra. It is garbage, and if you send something in a day late, they terminate you're plan. I had awful customer service, and 30 minutes on hold in the end left me with no insurance. Save yourself some time, money, and long and useless phone calls. I wish I could put a zero star rate for them. Learn from my lesson, don't get Cobra. Wex offers the worst customer service. We're having an issue with our reimbursement for 2021. The first person looked into the situation and was able to find the error originated and she said she'd start the process on getting it corrected. My husband didn't get her name because he was excited thinking everything was resolved. Two weeks later -- nothing. He called back today and the person wouldn't look into it for more than 5 seconds. He got pulled up his W2 to confirm the contributions and called them back. The third person gave the same 2 second glance at the account and gave the same line. We asked if he could look at the notes on the account for more details. He said, "I see the notes but that person probably didn't know what they were talking about". We asked to speak with a manager. We were told someone would call us back tomorrow. Yeah, not holding our breath over here. Here's to hoping the HR department will switch vendors next year. Wex is horrible!! read more

Had a supervisor admit that they messed up and failed to see a date of service on a claim I submitted and denied it. Then failed to reprocess it within the time frame on 2/21/2018 when I requested it due to a "Technical Error". I finally after 4 days was able to get a hold of a supervisor Josh who admitted the company made a mistake, but they will still be garnishing my wages. What kind of BS is this? I asked to speak to to the supervisor, he refused to allow me. I asked to speak to a manager, he refused to allow me. Just said yes, we made a mistake but the plan year is closed. I am furious I am treated this way! Hayden, Megan, Nicole and Guillermo are nice and polite but I'm still losing money due to their mistake and I cannot afford this. There was almost $6000 in my husband Health Savings Account (HSA) disappeared in Discovery Benefits HSA account. When my husband withdrew the $6000 after leaving a previous employer and requested to have it sent to his personal HSA. Discovery Benefits (DB) sent it to a wrong bank which we had no account with. DB won't take care of. I have spent countless hours for 3 weeks talking to 13 DB representatives. I got a bunch of runarounds. They said they would have a supervisor call me which they never did. My company has used DB for years. The website is very user friendly; easy to submit claims, to upload receipts, to check available funds, etc. Let's not blame DB for Fed requirements that force them to enforce these procedures. Phone support is hit or miss. If I get a knuckle-head, I hang up and call back. read more

If I could leave a zero I would..... I left my employer and ended up enrolling in the cobra dental and vision plans with WEX.... I paid for two months at first and then put myself in automatic premium withdrawal for 2022..... I desperately needed to get some glasses so I booked an appointment at my age actor and when they went to find my insurance information they said I was not in the system so I called to verify and they told me I had to wait 15 days because there was a grace period for my account to kick in so I waited and booked another appointment after the grace period and the secretary still could not find my insurance information. After two months of being pushed around to confusing different phone numbers in representatives we find out that nobody enrolled me in the first place. I must have spoken to 7+ representatives who ALL couldn't tell me I wasn't enrolled in the first place..... thank you WEX for taking my money and giving me nothing but frustration and wasted time. read more

I've been trying to get my cobra insurance active for one month now with you discovery benefits . I made my payment. Initially it got delayed because of your error inputting our data when our plan was transitioning from my husband Brian's employer. We have called numerous times I have a call log and employees names . I asked to speak to a manager but denied. I call there 2 to 3xs weekly including my husband Brian Bedont. Everything has been notated in your calls and recorded. I have serious medical issues and so does my son and we are inactive on our health insurance still on 3 1 21. This started back in January 21 or earlier . It's a nuisance. it has caused me several panic attacks and I can't get my medications. One rep sarah told me to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed however I see all the complaints against discovery benefits with the BBB. Its is very sad that people who are already suffering with health issues get treated this way when we are spending tons of money for this insurance coverage. We have put off our appointments and told our status was urgent by the last rep today smarthealth called for me. Your company doesnt know why it's not showing active status. I cant even get the mangers information because of your customer service is not helpful until the last 2 times they were called 3 1 21 and 2 25 21.... Then I was told to call again , I called smart health friday they gave me attitude call discovery benefits round and round the Merry go round I go again!!! Discovery benefits Medical FSA account is beyond terrible. They make it close to impossible to get paid back from the money that you choose to withhold. If a future employer uses discovery benefits I would opt out of the program because it is such a hassle to get your funds back. It is not worth the tax savings. read more

I have used FSA for many years at previous companies and only had to provide receipts when I wanted to be reimbursed for things I paid cash or used a bank card other than my FSA card. At my current position they use Discovery and they want receipts for everything including paying copays, etc with my FSA card. Of the several payments I made with the FSA card they have rejected the receipts I provided as not detailed enough. I NEVER had this trouble with any other company. It is completely useless to me and I feel like I'm having to earn my money twice just to deal with this company. I will definitely drop FSA at the next open enrollment. read more

I was signed up to Discovery Benefits by my company for our dependent care FSA, and I contributed a good chunk to my FSA each month. Eventually the company laid everyone off and I started to use my FSA for day care while I went searching for a job. 1 month after my lay off , the credit card Discovery benefits makes you use started getting declined. I called them up to ask why they were denying daycare, and a CSR named Kayla, who was friendly enough, said that the account was closed since I no longer worked there, the $1.1k I had in the account was forfeit, and I should have known there was a 30 day window after being laid off to use the money. I asked who the money was forfeit to, and she said the IRS (which I have a feeling its actually Discovery that keeps the money). I did not sign up for Discovery - my employer did, and since the business went under, there was no one to communicate any of this to us. We just showed up one day and were all let go. Discovery did not offer to do anything to help the situation, and would not accept claims for other child care expenses incurred during the 'active' period. Stay away from using them. If your employer suggests using them, look elsewhere. read more

I had an FSA account with Discovery Benefits and made a claim which they send a reimbursement check for. Unfortunately the check got filed instead of cashed and when we realized the error to the amount of nearly $700 it was told to us that it was too late and the funds had been forfeited as the plan was closed. I explained it's with in the same year I just changed jobs and life got crazy I am asking for you help. It's not a small dollar amount and this was money set aside for medical benefits from my pay check that had a used benefit please just reissue the check. When I asked multiple times to speak with anyone above the call center managers I was told there is no one beyond me. Then I was told to reference the IRS use it or loss it law to which I replied I did use it for a benefit Discovery Benefits found reimbursable I am just asking you to reissue the check. I feel comfortable saying that I feel discarded as a customer and can promise should I work for any company in the future that chooses to use Discovery Benefits I will share my story and request a plan change to a new provider. Every single card swipe at a doctor or dentist office they request a receipt. Send them the receipt and statement and they still demand more documentation or threaten to freeze my account. What more can I send? They won't tell me but yet demand more info. When ADP managed our company's FSA they were picky but not this bad. I've let our HR know of the major inconvenience and waste of time dealing with this incompetent company. read more
