Without this sign I would never know there was a dog park in this area. This location is a bit strange. This is located behind a school. Well, the school is no longer active. St. Brigid St. Augustine Partnership School has been closed for almost five years. The rear of the former school has a nice sized dog park. It is fenced with the rules posted on the outside of the fence. The rules are pretty standard. My pup and I were the only ones here. The park is divided into two parks, one is for little dogs, which is where we were and the other is for larger dogs. Jude had such a fun time running around, and of course sniffing every single corner. There are a lot of wood chips all over the park, which undeniably ended up all over Jude's hair, and eventually all over my car. There was a bench which I sat at, and he came under, once he was ready for some shade. The West Hartford Dog Park is a nice park to let your dog run around and play.

There's not much to it, but if you need to exercise your high energy / young pup and you don't want to drive all the way to Canton, Glastonbury, Wethersfield or Rocky Hill (dog parks where we typically go), bring a chuck it, a bowl, and water and you should be able to tire him/her out at this park. Lots of wood chips cover the surface of the dirt, there are poop bags in a dispenser after you come into the entrance, and loads of old tennis balls can be found lying around the ground. I just wish there was another large garbage bin inside the fenced in area of the park instead of just one right outside the entrance. I went for a second time today with Momo and both times I met the loveliest people with friendly dogs. There's also a separate fenced area for smaller dogs. We'll be coming here more often since it's so convenient and easy to access.

New off-leash Dog Park in Newington Center. Opened in June 2022! We visited the Park the other…read moreday in the late afternoon heading towards sunset. Beautiful open grounds with two fenced play areas; small dogs 25 pounds or less and large dogs over 25 pounds. Each with seating, picnic table, shade trees, and ample space to chase a ball or another tail. Our 26 pound pup blended in very well with the other dogs all ready there, which consisted of a large variety of other well behaved canine. We stayed for about an hour plus and socialized with the dogs and their human counterparts. Nice time and great place for your Fido(s) - 3 max per owner. Our only concern, the Park does not have a water station for the dogs, community bowls were present and guests provided water to be shared. Next time we'll bring a gallon or two to share as well.

It was a warmer December Saturday, following some heavy days of rain when we set out. Not knowing what slop we might be subjecting ourselves to we decided to be merry and Howled Holiday Carols all the way, even over a river and into woods. GPS got us the and yes, set off was the Park in some woods. Parking roughed gravel and wet ruts. There was the FOCDP within a beautiful wooded canopy of pine and leafed out deciduous trees. A smaller fenced in space for 25 pounders or less including some play scape. The space for the 25 pound or greater whoppers a larger wooded compound. Why do I like the wooded space? Warmer weather - more shade. Cooler weather - less direct exposure to wind. Slop weather - the forest space provides a natural sponge and a source of base material constantly being added. Of course, the trees added a wild feel for the fury visitors to enjoy Our Fury owner bridges into both areas, not too small and not too large. So we enjoyed visiting both areas and the social time with other friendly Pups and their Human Pets. Gladly both areas were fairly dry and not a swamp of mud. Seal of approval EARNED! FOCDP, acronym needed so my Fury Owner doesn't hear me pronouncing "Dog Park". Anyway FOCDP easily earned a 5 Star rating.

Lady, first of all - you don't know our dog, and second of all - we don't know the other dogs, so what makes you think you have the right to talk down to us like a kindergarten teacher admonishing her kids for putting the yellow crayons in with the reds? The owner was useless in getting the situation under control and I had to tackle my dog while their dog was showing teeth and growling at mine to get my pup away since he thought they were playing. If you're too old to move around or too scared to break up dogs if you have a mean one, don't bring your damn dog there. Very clique and some random old dude literally put a choke collar on my dog and started choking my dog while we already had our dog handled , WITHOUT OUR CONSENT, just panting from the excitement. On top of that, all our reviews on Google & Facebook have been taken down trying to hide the incident.

Volunteers have provided buckets of weather latched to the lower section of the fence, accessible by all dogs. The grass is lush and green and is well maintained. It is in a nice area of the town and I recommend it. My only suggestion for them is to put outdoor plumbing in the park. Easy if you need to hose how your dog.
