If you need an easy path, there's the loop around the large duck and goose pond. If you want something a little more challenging, the path leading back to the 4H Fair Grounds has a decent elevation and optional stairs. There are multiple playgrounds for kids and a few areas for sports and games. Nearby are also shelters that can be reserved for events. Parking is plentiful and in multiple spots. There is also a growing effort to install more public art, a reading path, and some free-range meadow grasses. I'm hopeful that the trees grow back after the building of the Academy apartments and that more are planted around the path to provide more shade during the hot summer months. But a great, local park!

The park boasts loads of amenities in a well-kept landscape. For bird lovers: there's a gorgeous pond which is visited by a lot of ducks, geese, and local bird friends. There's a great 1.2 mile walking track that circles the park, offering views of the pond and a walk and read (single book pages at stops along the trail) for folks with kiddos. They have two playgrounds, four sheltered areas, restrooms (although I've only seen them open twice - pro tip: go to Aldi across the street from the park if they're closed - fast, easy, and clean!), a few short nature trails, green space, a sand volleyball court, soccer fields, a basketball court, and a heck of a lot of tennis courts. I'm new to roller skating and the tennis courts here are a dream come true! Yes, this may not be their intended purpose, and yes, one tennis player one time may have gotten a bit peeved BUT there are so many courts, you don't have to feel guilty about taking away anyone's ability to play tennis. During the week, I've never found the park too crowded. In the early mornings, virtually empty minus some walkers and tennis players. In the evening, loads more folks but still has never felt too crowded, plus LOTS of dog walkers which always makes me excited to see so many sweet puppy faces strolling around. Basketball games are generally happening. On the weekends, this place does get busy. Shelters are available for rent, so there's often parties taking place, we've seen tennis tournaments, soccer games, and more but with how large the park is, we've never felt overcrowded or like we've lost our personal space and have always been able to find easy parking. I would highly recommend this park any time of day and any day of the week.

I know it rained really hard Friday evening and Saturday morning but while looking on the website of the arts festival there was no indication of the festival cancellation. But as a result we got to see the park. Which by the way was worth the trip. They have lovely swings that overlook the river. There is plenty of parking a covered pavilion with tables for picnicking and a fabulous water park for the kids. It is a hidden treasure. The river was obviously high and very muddy but still a cool spot to take kids or just go sit and look at the river traffic. We did see a couple of barges.

The restrooms may be closed because of cold weather but, the playground is a wonderful place to take young children. It will keep them busy for hours. An there are still the well maintained walking paths and the park is still Pet Friendly. Masks are still required as they are at all playgrounds and a 6 foot distance must be maintained from others until further notice.

People sat on lawn chairs and park benches to enjoy the music. Some people walked the trails as kids rode bikes. There were food trucks and other vendors selling various offering from pizza, burgers, and more. Enjoyed hearing the music and we parked in baseball fields directed by staff. The show played til 10 pm. It was a blast from the past.

Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout the park. There is even a 'little library,' a bring one-take one deal. There are restrooms within the park, but they were closed for the season during my visit. The park was very well maintained and I felt totally safe there. I understand that there are frequent events held within the park in the warmer months. Our navigation app took us to the front of the park, so we parked in the police parking lot, assuming the park did not have parking of its own. We later learned that the park has a large parking lot. It is located behind the park, and is accessible from a nearby road. What a great place to relax and unwind, or to bring children to play.

Has very nice soccer fields, tennis courts, a beautiful creek, a tiny but neat nature trail up a hill, a fun playground, a cool treehouse and a big gazebo area that can be rented out for the day. I can imagine for the locals this is a nice relaxing spot to enjoy great weather and nature and let there kids play. It's really is one of the more pretty parks I've visited in the Louisville area. Plus I imagine it's less populated then Tom Sawyer park locate nearby so it is more relaxing. Overall awesome park. I'm glad we found It. I enjoyed the views and the kids had a blast on the pretty elaborate and creative playground. It's a park that I'll absolutely make a return trip to.

Willow Park continues to be a jewel at the busy intersection at the end of Cherokee Parkway…read more And considering it's been a couple of years since I last reviewed this small park and my son and I got to enjoy its playground recently, I wanted to update this. Along with have a beautiful gazebo, bathroom facilities and some green space, it also has a cute playground area. One very nice touch: The playground is fenced in, with a gate that latches. While you should obviously keep an eye on your kids, this fence makes me at least feel a bit better about letting my son run around in this area when he gets a bit older. In the meantime, we enjoyed the swings. It has one bucket swing, which was great for us. The biggest portion of this area is taken up by a playset that kids can hang, climb and slide on. Benches surround the area, making it great to find a spot to sit and relax while kids play. I would have taken photos, but the area was full of kiddos when I was there this week -- a good indication that this is a good area to play in. The Highlands neighborhood boasts several great parks, and Willow Park is definitely one of them. Don't overlook it when you're making your way around the neighborhood and crave some fresh air.
