Large room, uber-comfortable double bed, quiet surroundings = the best experience. The rooms were re-decorated almost 1 year ago but they forgot a simple; and necessary these days, "modern electrical outlet system" = USB ports... but I have a small Ziplock bag with USB-to-AC outlet adapters, so charging my gadgets was not a problem. But aside from that, the "comfortability" is equal to a 4 star hotel in expensive California, but with a 3 star hotel price! read more

This hotel is located on Travis AFB. The current rate for me was $99/night. I did not call ahead for reservations. My check-in was quick and easy. I had a couple questions and they were answered with a smile. The hotel is clean and well maintained. My room did not have any flaws, and my only complaint was that in spite of a thermostat, there was no temperature regulation. I walked from the hotel to the passenger terminal and it didn't seem to be excessively far I will stay here again. read more

I wanted to give this a higher rating... however, I cannot. There are definitely some pros and cons with staying on a military base. Pro: Safety. Friendliness. COST. Military lifestyle. COST. Ease of booking. COST... you get the idea... Cons: Smells. Distance to activities. No 24-hour access to a hot meal. Loved the fact that I was traveling in a group with my son and the main group stayed in a name-brand hotel. Two nights at that other hotel would have been over $400!!! Two nights here? Well... if you know, you know! The Westwind staff set us up in a TLF. They are located right behind the main building. Unfortunately, because of the time we arrived, it was completely dark. Oh, no outside lights on the building. Made me feel a bit awkward. When we got inside the "apartment" it smelled. Not like a horrendous smell, but a "this hasn't been used in a while smell". Took a bit to get it aired out but was bearable. If you are staying in the TLF with your family... I would suggest you bring some Clorox wipes, a bottle of hand soap, laundry detergent and dryer sheets. The kitchen has the very basics. Dishes/silverware, pots and pans, large refrigerator, ice trays, kitchen table and high chair. There's a very small bottle of liquid dish soap provided plus two dishwasher tabs (but I don't think they're actually dishwasher tabs, as the name on packaging says "Finish", which is just an additive). I brought my own coffeemaker as I'm a bit weird about using someone else's. The 2nd bedroom (not pictured) had two twin beds. Unfortunately, the linens were very lightweight. The bed wasn't uncomfortable, but wasn't the most comfortable either. Overall, it was a very good stay. I would stay again! read more

This is your basic Air Force hotel. Rooms were good, service was good, no pool, no gym, no breakfast, plenty of parking. The service was excellent. The ladies at the front counter always tended to my needs all the rooms had a bathroom, but no kitchenette. read more

TLA pet units are absolutely horrible. The unit we were given smells so strongly of dog and must. It is not comfortable in the least and the living room has no couch only 4 hard pleather chairs that don't even recline it is like living in a doctor's office waiting room. Such a disappointment. We were planning on staying for a few weeks however the conditions are so poor we are staying only 1 night. Would NOT recommend . Update to top it off the power went out around 9 pm it is now 7:30 am and it's still not on so the smell and the heat is worse. Twin beds are so uncomfortable and the bedding is super thin. Amazing experience, maids are amazing and clean rooms at varying times (awesome since im on a swing shift class.) I would leave a 5 star, however if you have the unfortunate luck of dealing with rosaleen just know you're in for a rough night. Am frequent guest here. With family and solo. The facilities are clean - and good walking distances to exchange and bowling alley. Park across the street - coffee shop in lobby. Laundry. Great prices for what we get. Frog and micro- and quiet and safe. Busy location. It's a great benefit and a restful stop - especially Space A terminal and easy walk over to the flight line. (There are no shuttle or taxi services on base ) but easy to walk to places if you fly in. read more

Absolutely disgusting. I live near Hill AFb so maybe I'm spoiled but dang this is rough. We stayed at a family suit for a very good price $107. First notice a cockroach right away. So I kill it and think maybe it's just a one off. Then I see two more in the bathroom and kitchen. ALL our stuff is off thr ground hopefully they don't crcrawl in our bags. I called thr front desk and she says it's normal. maintenance can set traps but that's it. She said it's the seasson. I said, there's an infestations it not the season. Apparently it's not grounds to move rooms or reimbursement. It's just gross. Rooms are danky and gross like they haven't been cleaned properly in years. I am currently looking for a nearby hotel. I refuse to pay for roaches read more

Base lodging tends to have a reputation for being rundown. However, this is not the case for Westwind Inn. Interior is decently updated and clean. The staff were very flexible and helpful when I needed to change my reservation dates last minute. read more

1/27/2020 Sunday check in Monday check out We flew in in a MAC. After spending 6 weeks in Guam for my Dad's funeral And 3 days straggling from MaC terminals we were exhausted. The family suite that we stayed in was good. I liked that it had two bedrooms and a kitchenette. The best thing was that it had a washer/dryer in the room, which made it really convenient to wash our clothes before heading back home. The only things I would change would be for the in to update the paint inside the suites to make it more modernized and get better comforters. Good quality room for the price! read more

Well I have to stay I have stayed in hotels, motels, hostels, timeshare properties and most any other form of accommodations across the country and Westwind Inn is definitely in the top 5. We stayed in the TLF suites located on Travis Air Force Base and I have to tell you I was totally impressed and to be honest a little surprised. I fully expected these rooms to be like refurbished dorms or something to that effect and I was completely wrong. When we walked in the first words out of my mouth were WOW.....and as I walked around a little more the same word came out of my mouth again.....WOW!!!!!! Here are WOW factors: for starters FREE WI-FI and it is very reliable!!!!!! Living Room: Indoor/Outdoor rug throughout the suite......exception being the bathroom and Kitchen Ceiling Fan Flat Screen TV Coffee Table DVD Player Sofa Bed Lounge Chair Chaise Lounger Large Computer Desk and Chair Kitchen: Huge Space with room for a Table and 4 Chairs along with a High chair if you have a toddler. Dishwasher 2 Microwaves Pantry Gas/Electric Stove Side by Side Fridge Coffee Maker (free coffee, Tea, and creme) Toaster Ice Bucket Utensils.....plates......glasses.....silverware.....pots and pans.....(you get the idea) Full Kitchen Hallway Closet with Broom and Dustpan......along with a stand alone fan and Playpen for toddlers. The Closet at the end of the Hallway has a safe you can use FREE of CHARGE There is also extra linen in that same closet and a nice Framed picture on the wall. Bedrooms (there are 2 of them) and the beds themselves were AWESOME!!!!!! The Bedroom on the right is the guest bedroom which has one bed......huge walk-in Closet......Flat Screen TV......dresser......2 end tables and a bed bench The Master Bedroom on the left has 2 beds with bed benches.....same huge walk-in Closet......TV......dresser.....and I mini table between the beds. There are at least 5 trash cans and plenty of outlets for your convenience. Bathroom: Very spacious Plenty of free soap......shampoo......body lotion......and TOWELS There is a gripper mat for the tub so you won't slip while taking a shower There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom as well in it's own closet.....Loved it!!!! Here are my only complaints: The parking area is a bit of a walk from you car to your suite and it is not well lit at all. A matter of fact I would not recommend women to be walking alone at night and if you have a fear of open spaces.....this is not the place to be especially at night. The heating and AC unit is a bit loud but not terrible The Ice Maker and Water Dispenser on the Fridge didn't work but we did have the Ice Bucket. The water takes awhile to get hot.....but it does get hot indeed. However the water in the tub is very slow to drain out. Finally the sofa bed is good for sleeping on perhaps ( I didn't try it out.....LOL) but it is not good for sitting on......very uncomfortable!!!!!! These issues combined were not enough to give this establishment a lower star rating.....because bottom line this suite was awesome. I have to thank my wonderful sister in law and her husband for "hooking us up" because after all we were in town because she invited us to there Christmas Party. Now I would tell you all to make sure if your in the Bay Area to make sure you stay at this location.....but you have to be family member of an Active or Retired Military officer. Traveling from CA to OR the Westwind Inn makes a great overnight stop for those looking for a safe, clean, pit stop for a night. The location of the hotel is great coming in the main gate it is pretty much 1 turn and you reach the parking lot. The signage is great and you really can't miss the check in location. The rooms have a tv, microwave and mini fridge, with a bed, and shower along with a sitting chair, and desk with info on the local happenings of Travis AFB. Just what you need for a short overnight trip. Next door you will find a gas station to fill up on your way back down the road or a bowling center to spend a few hours if you need a place to stop before going to bed for the night. The front desk was very clear on the procedure for service animals and outlined exactly what they would need prior to my arrival (vet records proving shots/dates) and the ability to answer a question if your animal is specifically trained to assist an individual with a disability (sorry family pets you can stay in the pet friendly TLF area, service dogs can stay in the rest of the hotel). Response bias: those who love or hate produce majority of responses. I love and have different aspects of this place. 1. You will have a VERY hard time finding cleaner lodging in the Air Force inventory. I was shocked at how nice this place is. 2. Internet blows hard. One DSL connection for multiple rooms? That's a step above dial up. Remember that? You can only get online at very extreme hours, even in the lobby. But if one person in the building decides to partake in usual TDY proclivities like movies, Skype, or porn...better start using your data. If this were an unfunded TDY I would get an Airbnb. I can't complete assignments for work without a mobile hotspot. But....like I said....clean. Hardly any roaches....just one so far. read more

We were very impressed. Since we were not on active duty, we had to wait until 2 weeks before we were to arrive to book our rooms. The $30 single rooms were gone, so we ended up paying $43 for a 2 bedroom unit. This turns out to be a 2 bedroom apartment with a king bedroom and bedroom with 2 double beds. There is 1 bathroom, with a tub shower combo and a washer dryer. The spacious living room has a sleeper sofa and there is a very large kitchen with a table and 4 chairs along with all the amenities you'd have at home. Each unit is fully furnished and comes complete with pots, pans, plates and linen. You have both a front and back door and plenty of space to paly outside. For an additional charge you can bring your pets along. These facilites are located directly across from the Conference Center where we had our party, so they were perfect for getting dressed in and returning to after the party. No need to drink and drive. Godfathers Pizza delivers until around 11pm and you can walk down to the shopette and buy food 24 hours daily. read more

What really sucks about this place is the uncaring staff at the desk. I experience this time and again. They ask 'How long will you be staying?', like it matters. But regardless, you can only book 3 days at a time! I'm 100 % disabled, but they always put me as far away from an easy entrance as possible. This last time, I had two WWII veterans, one 93 and the other turning 100, but they insisted that they couldn't do us any better than having a long walk to the room, having to park three buildings over since I had a trailer to unload. You would think that they might be just a little understanding having explained the situation, but none whatsoever! In the past, I would get the electronic key reset for the 3 more days, but would be lucky if it worked once I got to my room on the far end. They kept blaming me rather than admit that they were having problems with their system. It has been the same people working the desk for the last three years, I'll definitely say that it's time for change. Who is the manager over the hotel anyway? read more

This review is solely on the fact that their management is terrible. In fact they need to have a meeting on communcation throughout reservations, customer service, and housekeeping. Let me explain... My friend just PCS'd here from Texas and for the past month has called to ensure there was lodging for her (specifically pet friendly TLF). She finally was told that there was pet-friendly TLF secured for her but when she arrived about a week later was told by the blonde front desk agent that there was no pet friendly TLF. I had helped her drive here and was holding her small 15lb dog next to her at the front desk when she asked the agent if she can still have her dog there. The front desk agent said, "Yes, just make sure he is in a kennel when you are not there." She said that there would not be pet friendly TLF available for a majority of the time so she would just make the TLF room she gave her (not pet friendly) a pet friendly one. So my friend got a call from housekeeping saying that she would be charged $150 for cleaning fees due to hiding the dog in the TLF room. This was after the house keeper came to the room and then abruptly left and told the house keeping manager about the dog. She didn't say anything directly to my friend that she was not supposed to have a dog (in case there was any time of miscomunnication). So my friend was upset and caught off guard when she realized that she had to find boarding for her dog. NEVER did anyone tell her that she would have to find a boarding or kennel for her dog if there was no pet-friendly TLF available. So now, my friend has to pay out of pocket for boarding her small, 15lb dog that was an error on lodging's part. If this was a policy how come it was not included in the e-mail from lodging upon making reservation for a pet friendly TLF? How come reservation also screwed up her reservation and said she had two dogs but when she checked in told them she only had one? Instead of anyone even apologzing to my friend who literally just drove 30 hours to get here two days ago, she gets treated like absolute crap. Did I mention the boarding a dog around here on short notice is around $55 a night?!! And she has to be in TLF for at least 15 days until she can move into an apartment. read more

I had a unplanned one day lay over so I decided to stay on base instead out in town. The young lady was friendly enough over the phone when I called but when I physically showed at the counter there was a mix up with my room and so the two rude ladies gave my room away and gave me a bigger room I didn't need or want and charged me more money. The two bedroom apt is nice if I had come with a family. The hotel and rooms are clean. Wifi is tricky and the people at the front desk are zero help. The airport is a 1/2 mile a way one way. The BX is just as far but its worth the walk. read more

When im close I always stay here. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. Free parking. Friendly staff. And they sell booze in the lobby behind the front desk (regular wiine, small spirits) although if you want booze go to the BX or the mini mart at the gas station. I've been here countless times and each time its been a 5 star experience. Better than most hotels I actually prefer this place over any hotel when im out west. read more

The Air Force version of a 4 star hotel but for military and DOD personnel only. Most every military installation has a hotel or lodging for their service members and their family. Throughout the years the military has set aside budget for these hotels to improve the quality of life of our service members and their families. This particular Inn is located on Travis Air Force Base just outside of Fairfield and Vacaville California. It is a four story, two winged building complete with a main entrance in the center and door entrances on each end of the wings. They also have a cafe that serves up hot and cold beverages as well as a number of sundries for a quick snack. They also have a business center on the main floor towards the elevators. What's really nice is that each wing on every floor has guest laundry rooms and a bulk ice machine which is complimentary. Detergent and softener are available for purchase in the vending machines located in the laundry rooms. Here the best part of the laundry and drying machines.....They free FREE! Didn't I say that already?!?! Who doesn't like free?!?! The rooms are stocked with 2 sets of towels and complimentary soaps. They have a single cup Keurig machine and a small refridge to store a few a items. Rooms are comfy and A/C and heater works fabulously! Huge sliding glass mirrors for the closet. Bathroom Is spacious and plenty of counter space. Shower pressure is mediocre but the warm/hot temp works great. Overall a great experience for such a short stay. I have since stayed here many times as the cost is so minimal for so much. The rooms are always in perfect condition and so full of options not available at other hotels/motels/inns at the same price (under $40 and no sales tax!). Parking can sometimes be a pain and no rooms are available at all during reservists' active-duty training weekends. Call in advance - if you are pre-registered at the Inn or thru the dodlodging.net website (recently updated) then it's much easier as your personal data is already in their database. Try to check-in early as later in the day aircrews and transferring personnel can create a very long wait in line - recently I stood in line for over 30mins to check-in as a huge aircrew was checking in though there was three receptionists, it was still slow. Also recently while staying here for a night there were thunderstorms in the area and it killed the television reception as there were NO channels available on the TV, and even the radio died too. All were restored in the morning - apparently if something happens at night it's not fixed till the staff arrives in the morning. If it was to happen during a weekend, it won't be fixed till the next workday. There is a computer center with five PC terminal for free use by guests. WIFI is said to be installed in the future BUT there has always been free wifi in MY room each time I've stayed (over 10 times since my 1st 2009 review) and though depending on my room location, it has been anything from strong to weak. During my military career and civilian federal career I had the honor to stay here and it was one of the best hotel stays I have had in quite some time. All the amenities of a hotel, free coffee after 8pm and all the hot chocolate you can handle. Room has everything from Coffee Maker, Fridge, Microwave, granite countertops, large bathrooms, spacious desk space, flat screen TV with Blu-Ray players in the Armoire. Large King Size Bed, excellent sheets and a comfortable lounge chair with pullout foot stool. Excellent service at the counters, and amenities, a great bowling alley across the street with a nice food stop. A short walk to a small man made fishing lake on the base. A true honor and privaledge to stay here. If you are here for a Medical VA visit, you can stay here with your VA card. Be sure to call ahead to confirm. You can book your room online as well. When I was out-processing and had to terminate my lease, I still had things to do on base so I elected to stay here. I loved it.. best bang for your buck. The rooms aren't anything special but it meets everything you'd need and was comfortable but best of all, very cheap. The only downside I would say is that it gets packed a lot because of people who use the space a traveling at the pax terminal. There isn't a lot of parking either, but it's located at the center of the base so it's easy to find and is a short walk to the commissary, bx, terminal, chow hall and the dorms so it's perfect. read more

Standard rooms are clean and well-maintained. Glad that there was a guest laundry and very close to base services like the exchange, commissary and gas station. One of the nicest Air Force Inns my family has visited. Had a small issue with our shower that was quickly attended to by maintenance staff. Guest services staff friendly and personable. Will definitely stay here again when I have to return to the San Francisco area. TFL is hit or miss. Will stay in a standard room from now on. Had bug and insect problems, unit smelled--most likely the pipes/water spigots in laundry and kitchen, the sofa and chairs, and/or the trash cans that don't get cleaned. Housekeeping seems rushed, as they did not do a good job cleaning at all. Had to request for them to vacuum the floor on more than one occasion. Speechless on that one. It's really nice to have the family suite for just a few more dollars than the standard room, but our experience was poor. Had to move to another unit because of the smell, and when we moved that one wasn't much better. We ended up back at the main building for the remainder of our month-long stay. read more

Two stars because of customer service. They never answer the phone. In fact, today I needed to cancel my reservations due to a change in mission. I called to do so and the phone rang about 50 times then someone actually picked up the phone and hung it up- as in "I'm too busy to take this call so I'm going to hang up on this person to stop the phone from ringing." I had to cancel one another time due to a change in mission requirements and the same thing happened- the phone rang so long and I was on hold so long I finally hung up and the room went vacant. I was approached while my hubbys training was going on and told I had 10 minutes to get out of the room. I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and could not get the bags myself while he was in training. Ive stayed in the single rooms and family units and they are both great. The family rooms have everything from a full kitchen to a washer and dryer. Plenty of space and our second floor family unit had an awesome, very large, balcony. Both times ive stayed it has been spotless clean! Excellent price.
