Journey is turning 5 years old this month, but it's new to us. We went for the first time today…read moreand we were quite pleasantly surprised. They have 3 service times, all on Sunday. We were at the 11AM Service and there was a great turnout. The main pastor is very good speaker, we really appreciated his interpretation of a section of Old Testament which was the focus of the lesson. The congregation was younger, on the whole, I'd wager the average age at 35-40. There were some grey heads around and plenty of middle school/high school aged as well. Good mix of people. The music was very upbeat, we heard some new songs and some great well known christian contemporary hits as well! We look forward to going back. I recommend you check it out!

We were visiting over Easter and looked for a welcoming, low-pressure church--ChatGPT suggested…read morethis one. We knew Unity has distinct beliefs, but weren't prepared for the congregation to howl together at the opening: "Welcome to Unity, a wild soul sanctuary (entire congregation howls)....". The church is small (about 150 members), yet no one greeted us before, during, or after the service...even though we didn't want to feel pressure, we didn't want to be ignored entirely, so it was disconcerting to not be greeted at all. The 75-minute service felt disjointed: multiple rounds of announcements, a couple of songs, a children's segment, and a long "celebrations" portion where people shared personal updates, leaving only about 20 minutes for the sermon. Unfortunately, the message itself was confusing and hard to follow. We left feeling uninspired, which was disappointing for Easter Sunday. The most difficult part was three regular attendees in front of us who talked throughout the entire service, despite others trying to quiet them. It was so distracting that my family member with limited mobility wanted to move but couldn't due to lack of seating. We knew they were regulars because of how they were engaging with each other and other members of the church, plus one of them, a blond woman with shorter hair, was serving food after the service. We wished that this church would ask their congregation to be mindful of guests and be considerate of the experience others might want to have, particularly during a holiday service. We come to this area often but won't be visiting this church again.

Inside, another greeter told us more about the church and introduced us to the pastor. He then followed up by telling us about the "Empty Nesters" group within the church that hosts monthly theme potlucks and other activities. We were introduced to a couple in that group who invited us to a gathering that very afternoon. Since then, we have continued to meet new people of all ages throughout the church by attending a host of events. We were looking for a scripture-based church, and this is it. Although the pastoral staff has changed since we started attending, Pastor Pete and guest speakers have led the congregation with remarkable sermons that leave me with new insight every time.
