this church. I can't belive how harsh this place has been to so many of us over the years. Mid 2000s is where it got rough. I was there 10 years and I've NEVER been to a place that makes one feel so alone and rejected. I have a list. Once money and sterns came in that place became different. Another 20 years down the road and Im still witnessing crap. Even recently, my friend who I met there was struggling and reached out and they rejected them cuz they needed to prove being a member?! THIS IS A CHURCH?? Jesus said if you want to find me, help the poor, the grieving, lame. But no, not this place, they just judge you. Again and again and again. It won't stop!!!! I love this church. I was church hurt by a dishonest pastor and group here in Bend, so I wanted nothing to do with church anymore. Westside was a sign from God that not all Christian's are the same and that Westside really showed to me that God is real and loving and kind unlike the bad group I got mixed up with I am soooo thankful for Westside. I love this church for so many reasons. The leaders teach powerful truths with practical applications. They encourage spiritual growth in a way that is empowering, not condemning. It's a large church, but if you make even a tiny little effort, you can find a pocket of like-minded people to share life with, in close fellowship. And the church is super-focused on the community, generously giving all kinds of assistance to needy families, partnering with community organizations, supporting first responders, caring for orphans in foster care. Large church in west Bend that preaches the gospel and really tries to serve its community. I moved to Bend a year and a half ago and Westside was the first church that was recommended to me by a friend. This church is alive, loving and thriving. They are Bible believing Christians who preach the truth. The pastor is extremely genuine and transparent and creates an atmosphere and a culture of people who are striving to do the same. Been here for years and it's a safe place to be, great for the youth especially. Big churches can be hard to connect in and even for being outgoing and in need of close friendship it's been tough but that's just how it is. Churches have a culture they are all so different you have to just go about three times to get fair overview of each one. The last two services at Westside for me have been the best yet. We Also attend a home group from different church that suited us better... The worship at Westside can be really good but is never bad but sometimes when they have the freedom to spend the time it's awesome ! They have an amazing facility as well that serves the community very well for over 20 years. read more

It is my last Sunday at Westside, for awhile at least. I will be moving to a different state next weekend. Westside is so welcoming, easy to get connected, & amazing over all. This is an awful church it feels like a bunch of used car sellers.We went there a few times but my daughter told me that it made her feel like a bad person because they tell you we are all sinners it was so awful I left feeling down and gloomy with an awful taste in my mouth This is the epitomy of what teligion should not be shaming people into coming to church and giving away money to some actors who bring on the shame I was brought uo Catholic and I thought that was bad, with the guilt. I think a sermon should make you feel inspired and happy to be alive to love your fellow man to make the planet a better place for those that come after. This is a fantastic church that makes EVERYONE feel welcome. No judgment, just come and worship. It is focused on praising God, interpreting the Word of God from the bible and celebrating through uplifting, upbeat modern Christian music. It is NOT a political pulpit. It is NOT Christianity "lite". It is full of energy, young and old, families and single people. It is NOT a place that makes you feel guilty about all of your shortcomings. I've been a part of Westside Church for over 10 years. This place is big yes but the people are incredibly inviting. I had spent some time doing some extensive traveling after going here for a few years, and when I had come back they welcomed with open arms. Steve Mickle is the pastor and is as solid as they come. The worship, led by Casey and Corey Parnell is deep and spirit led. The community of believers here is rare in the church. During my travels I've only encountered two other churches that are as welcoming as Westside. This is definitely a place of love and acceptance. Yes these are people and yes they can make mistakes. Yes it is a big place and sure you can not feel connected. But just because you experience a negative doesn't mean you stop trying. I mean I've eaten a bad meal before but didn't give up on eating. Trying this church should be the same. This is a place you can grow, serve and call home. Westside, our family loves you. read more
