I visited this bar for karaoke on a Friday night and am very unimpressed by the karaoke hosts and…read morethe way they managed their system: Here are the issues: 1. The announcer was intoxicated: A rule of thumb for karaoke hosts is to always be aware and able to run karaoke to the best of their ability. After several drinks, the KJ was noticeably under the influence and being rude while interrupting karaoke singers. He may have thought he was being funny, but it came across to me as rude and unappreciative of the singers. 2. The announcer would interrupt songs with commentary: The KJ would frequently interrupt the singers (on his mic) with commentary and jokes. I found this extremely disrespectful to the singers. It was distracting to the singers, the audience, and made me feel uncomfortable. 3. The announcer was rude to me directly: During one song, he started laughing and made a comment of "well if you were to do it right". I know he somehow meant it as a joke, but I was embarrassed and that was completely uncalled for. At the end of the night, he restated he appreciated me coming out and hopes that I'd return, but as a KJ myself, there are things you just don't do when running karaoke. Being sober and able to make good judgments, respecting people when it's their time to shine, and being courteous to those around you are essential. This will be my first and last time visiting the Red Lion Lounge.

Normally I'd go to Joensy's, but my folks recommended this place which is only a few minutes away from where they live. I called in my takeout order, which was taken by a cheerful woman on the other end. When I walked into the restaurant/bar, it was bustling with a convivial atmosphere. Every table was filled and patrons sat shoulder-to-shoulder at the bar. I suspect that there are a lot of regulars here, and I drew some curious glances as it was clear that I wasn't a familiar face. The woman at the bar saw me as I came in and figured out that I was there for the food, and she beckoned me over with a smile. I assume that she was one of the proprietors, and she was friendly and welcoming, especially when she learned that I was from out of town. After a very pleasant chat, I left to enjoy our meal at home. The only thing I can really comment on is, of course, the pork tenderloin. As should be the case, it was enormous and dwarfed its oversized bun. The fresh greens and tomatoes were packaged in Saran wrap, which was a smart move because otherwise they would made everything soggy. The tenderloin was hot and crispy on the outside but tender and moist in the middle. One of them was thicker and slightly smaller in diameter than the others, and this one turned out to be the best of the lot because it was particularly juicy. Someday it would be nice to come back and have a meal in this real old-school tavern. It's probably a good idea that I didn't during these Covid times, since I do work in a hospital and would have been sad if I were an asymptomatic carrier that transmitted the illness to an unsuspecting crowd.

There are some small tables on this side also. On the other side is a small room with just tables for dining. We went in for dinner so we sat on the dining side. The service was hit and miss. We sat there for a good 10 minutes before anyone came to say hello. After that there were multiple people who came by to take our order or fill our water glasses. We ordered a couple drinks and we both enjoyed those, they were made very well. For food. we ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and we felt it was a little on the bland side, no big flavor popping out at us. I ordered the Italian sausage Diavolo with shrimp. This had a good flavor and the shrimp complimented it well. Both were good sized portions, I took home more than half of the Diavolo pasta but we felt we would not eat the Alfredo. I did not feel we received the value for the prices we paid. I don't expect to be back for dinner, we probably will for drinks some time though.

Not to mention that one of our dining companions had a 4 hour dinner, the last time he was there. Mind you, this was NOT their intent. Back to the review.....we were seated right away (we had reservations). But after that things took a turn. We were told by our waitress that she'd "be right back". After 40 mins another waitress asked if we wanted drinks. Took our drink order and then we waited another 20 minutes for our drinks to come. An hour to just get a drink?!?!? Ordered our meals and 3 out of 4 got the lasagna. HUGE portions but not hot....Luke warm at best. Like I said, what is happening to this place?!?!?! It was a Friday night and honestly not very busy. Not sure if they're short on help or just trying to "coast" on their reputation. Regardless, there will be some time that passes before either couple decides to roll the dice here again. Hopefully they step up their game so I can call this place my "never disappoint" place again!!!
