As such, I am in a good position to evaluate the City of Albuquerque. Albuquerque is the best of cities, Albuquerque is the worst of cities, it is a city of beauty, it is a city of ulgy, it is a city with wealth, it is a city of crime and poverty, it is a city of mountains, it is a city of valleys, it is a city of red, it is a city of green, it is a city of science, it is a city of superstition, there are too many people living in this desert, and there are not enough people living in this oasis, there are an infinite number of good restaurants, there are no good places to eat, it is a great place to raise a family, it is the worst place for a kid to grow up, it is a city of hot air balloons, it is a city of cold water rivers, it is a city of hot and dry days, it is a city of dark and stormy afternoons - in short, I believe that Albuquerque has only one face: that of a violent contradiction. Today I was driving on 5th Street NW next to an SUV with a cruiser following on my left lane. I had my window down and we stopped at a red light I looked over and the officer nodded. I stopped along the freeway at Commanche and I 25 to confront the guy . I had a bb gun in my hand. later as I was detained for questioning she asked me about a gun I told her yeah I had a pellet pistol and pointed it at the dirt in front of his car, pointed it at the dirt, oh did I say that. I told her the bb gun was on the seat of my Silverado, but being the fine police specimen she is she refused to look. Instead she arrested me the one who called 911 for help at the age of 66 I was thrown in jail. the problem is is that APD gives any POS a gun and says go enforce the law and it was pretty obvious that this young Asian lady was about the dumbest police officer I ever met. conclusion, if you get in trouble and need help in Albuquerque do not call 911 or eve 242-cops.

We stayed in family housing so had the opportunity to explore and meet some of the staff on duty. Polite and respectful, the employees were super helpful and got us in and out here we needed to go. Layout of the base streets can be a bit confusing & even with the map we got a bit turned around. The signage isn't very visible in the evening so way too miss the streets. But overall a very nice AFB.

I was new to Albuquerque a couple months ago and only had a few weeks to register to vote in the…read morenext local election. Since I have family here and have lived here before, I was anxious to get registered and become part of my new community . . . but I was worried. Registering is never as easy as they say it will be and I'd heard rumors that Bernalillo County Government had some questionable practices in the past. So, I quickly went online - which was a snap. Easy to find what I was looking for with simple instructions on how to register to vote. The office immediately mailed me all the information I needed to register, including a ballot for the upcoming election. I gathered the documents needed to prove that I was now a resident, did some additional research on the local candidates, and completed my ballot. Rather than put it in the mail (time was of the essence), I carried it down to the County Clerk's Office and hand delivered it. They looked at my documents and carefully placed my sealed ballot in the locked voting box. Whew! I did it . . . or so I thought. And with days to spare. A few days later I received a phone call from the Bureau of Elections saying they were not going to be able to count my ballot because I hadn't submitted documents to prove I was now a resident. I explained that, yes, I had hand-carried them into the elections office with my ballot. Because the person who took my ballot had not kept the proving residency document, my ballot was not to be counted unless I submitted (again) a document that proved my residency. I asked if I could mail it in. She said "no" that there wasn't enough time before the deadline. BUT . . . my ballot was the last one she was attempting to get registration verification documents for and, since I only lived a few blocks from the office, she would be happy to pick the document up. Well, let me tell you . . . I nearly dropped the phone! And that is just what the Tech from the Bureau of Elections, Bernalillo County Clerk's Office did. She was here within 20 minutes. I have never been so impressed with Customer Service from any business, let alone a State or County Government office. They may have had problems a few years ago, but they are definitely on top of their game today. My ballot was counted and I had a vote in the county of my new residence. Thank you Bridget Trujillo. Your service to Bernalillo County was Outstanding! P.S. If you have the opportunity to go down to the 6th Floor of the County Bldg, One Civic Plaza NW, be sure you take some time to see the wonderful historic New Mexico photos that line the hallways. They are delightful.
