They cut the selection in half, raised all the prices and replaced great customer service with an arrogant person who speaks down to you. I now drive the extra 10 min to go to Vermont for good selection at a great price.

There aren't that many places to buy wine and liquor in Williamstown MA. This store has two…read morelocations, one on Spring St and the other on Rt. 2. In general, the wine selection is ok. The Spring St. location is convenient, and for the past seven years I'd given them plenty of business. I ran into the store today to grab a bottle of cooking wine and had no cash. The cashier refused to take a card on $7.50 and told me that there is a $10.00 minimum. Even when I explained that I was a regular customer, he refused to allow me to charge a bottle of wine. I then explained that this would damage any future relationship that I might have with the store. This is yet another "the customer is always a nuisance" moment that I continue to experience with businesses in Williamstown. It's as if people around here have no clue about how to run a business. I would estimate that I have spent a few hundred dollars per year on alcohol, and most of my business has gone to West. They have now lost my business for the sake of reusing to cut me some slack on a credit card minimum. In many cases, owners around here can afford to treat customers with contempt because there is little competition. Luckily, however, there are other liquor stores in Williamstown and North Adams. The prices at West are higher than the prices at other stores in Williamstown and North Adams, and significantly higher than the prices over the border in Vermont. The selection at West isn't really that much better, and it isn't like they have expert advice on wine or spirits.

This review probably won't be recommended either! Yesterday, (I thought it better to just sleep on…read morethis!) my wife and I stopped into West Liquors in North Adams, as we have done many times to fill her tote bag with six bottles of wine, two expensive German rieslings for me and four inexpensive white and reds for her. The sign on the plate glass window says six bottles of wine gets 20% off the price. When she stepped up to the cashier she was told she would have to pay full price for my wine and not get the 20% the discount because two of her South American wines were not included in the discount. After watching the performance, I stepped up to the cashier and demanded that he call the owner about this bit of false advertising. He refused to do this claiming that the owner did not want to be bothered with customer price disputes. Then another store employee appeared after I told my wife to walk out. His crack to me was "See ya!" He called me "belligerent". He radiated pure hate. He has no idea what a "dead bee" he stepped on.
