Unfortunately, it is a destination for work and the many hours I spend on post are work hours so the enjoyment factor is recuced quite a bit. However, I have had opportunity to take my camera around and capture some amazing photographs. The Grant statue, the chapel, and all the areas around the North side of post that most people on travel never see are simply beautiful. The streets are narrow and not much traffic by the airport area but there is much to see back there. The golf course is great too. William is a fountain of information and I can't imagine anyone knowing the history of Leavenworth and the men and women surrounding the area any better than he could. More than any artifacts he is a huge asset to RACCM. He really made an impression on this US Navy veteran from Iowa. It was probably the best tour I've ever had in a museum...large or small. It was a privilege to meet both him and the director. Thank you both for everything you do. You can find most of the basics surrounding the museum on the RACCM's Facebook page and on multiple other sources so I'm not going to delve heavily into it here, but it you are interested in military history (particularly the Buffalo Soldiers) this is a must stop for you. If you find the museum locked when you arrive, but you are there during normal hours make sure you use the buzzer by the door. They run a minimal staff and with the tutoring center downstairs they might be busy. It's well worth the wait.

ALL of the artists are local. I'm one of the furthest away, and I'm from Lawrence. Each of us works 2 to 3 shifts per month, so living within driving distance is a must. We were located in Parkville for many happy years, but we're now enjoying our location in Weston. It's worth the trip.

Now the treehouse was a little bit dirty, but I think it's probably the time of the year and that it was really damp and wet during our visit. There's a place for you to have lunch. There are organized activities in the afternoon, which we did not participate in, but that goes additional things to do in the afternoon if you're there for a long period of time. The employees there were more than helpful and friendly . Facility was very clean and well organized.
