My husband was at both Strive and then long term care from June, 2019 until April of 2020 when he passed of covid. He came to Strive from the hospital after having surgery for a broken hip. He was treated well in Strive, it wasn't until he did not progress as expected and had to be transferred to long term care. That's when the nightmare began. I am only writing this now because I had hoped the situation had changed since we were there. I have heard a new administrator is presently trying to make things better, but some reviews tell me that is not the case. Still, after 2 years, I still think of the poor patients up on the second floor, I was there every single day until end of visiting hours and saw so much that it still gives me nightmares. The lack of care, the rude treatment of these old people, the urine stench in many of the rooms. When Covid broke I asked many of the staff if they had any cases, they said no. A week later a resident just across the hall from my husband passed from covid. 5 days later he was rushed to the hospital for shortness of breath, tested positive and was gone 5 days later. It was then I found out there had been cases up in long term that had been covered up. After observing the lack of training in the aides, and their lack of knowledge in preventing infections, I hope and pray that just maybe things have changed in two years. Families, check on your loved ones often, ask questions when you are up there, don't bring them anything of value, you will probably never see it again. read more
