Ok, I'm an on-again off-again church goer. So you know my "as good as it gets" has a lengthy list…read moreof qualifiers I need not go into just yet. Sometimes I just don't like crowds, sometimes I need to get something done - like work, sometimes I just can't stand people. Then there's the time when my frontal temporal lobes are craving that God thing. Maybe I just need to hang with others. The Journey Church (of which there are a number in the Denver metro area - this one has been meeting at Front Range Community College - Westminster for over ten years and has no affiliation with the others) is a small to moderate sized group of people who let you be you. That is my idea of church. But its way more different than that. Sure there's free food and coffee, etc. Yah, they've got chairs facing front and a band - really cool, honest Irish drummers, etc. The 3 leaders - Jackie - yes, she's a woman, Rob and Michael are down to earth - good people. Married with children. Yah, sometimes there's some yapping at the back of the meeting room - hey, it's a college - people get up and get coffee in the middle of whatever is going on. There's always a movie clip - something new and relevant to the topic of the day. For a moment, you're not in "church". You're in your living room, watching a clip from a movie you really enjoyed. The leaders are humble and admit their frailties - now that's a bit different. Also people do other stuff in this church. Dive - that's the food bank work. Theology on Tap - love that one - we meet once a month at a bar and talk about just about anything. Feeding the homeless and helping those in the Journey who need help. The Vault - women talking women stuff. Other things haven't investigated. Sundays, of course at Front Range Community College in Westminster - two services - 9:30 and 11:00 - child care at both - dress is casual, and of course, coffee! Anyway, after growing up Catholic, marrying a Protestant and neither of us going to church, Journey is where I meet good people, get that God connect and my wicked donut fix. Oh, yah, I feel loved here.

I've come from strict rule oriented churches before and have had a hard time finding a good place to call home. Here I was welcomed immediately and now I feel like I'm part of a family. No judgment or finger pointing, just heartfelt "we're all in the same boat" kind of conversations and of course I love the free donuts. LOL!

I have been attending churches for over 20 years and this is the first diverse church I have been to, so many are like "you need to look like us" "run in our circles" and "have the money and community standing like us"; NONE of that was at Victory Church! I will be coming back for sure!

Okay, so I've visited this church in my early 20s (I'm 30 now) because my best friend got saved…read morehere. I grew up in church my whole life. I even used to be a youth pastor for almost 4 years. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because for my profession and I would even say calling on my life, I'm a Fitness Trainer with Camp Gladiator. A week ago I reached out to Victory Church, being it a large church, to see if they'd be able to help me out by renting indoor space from them. I know they have the space. Our mission with Camp Gladiator is to impact the physical fitness and ultimately the lives of as many people as possible. That's very similar to most Christian churches. Well, Victory Church denied me indoor space without even listening to what we do since I don't go to their church. The reason I asked this church is because I teach outdoor camp literally minutes from them. I thought it would be a great spot that would also bring health and fitness motivation to their congregation. Well, just today on 10/30/18 I stopped by. I was like, well they denied me space, but I'd still love to share a promo with them to give all their staff and church members the rest of this year free if they commit to their health in 2019. I walked up to the church building and a lady was walking in. I asked her if this was the correct entrance and she looked at me and just kept walking. I come up to the door and I press the call box. I introduced myself and said I'd like to share with them this deal. She said, "you have to make an appointment. I respond, "an appointment to leave a flier." She responds, "just leave the flier on the mailbox with a rock or something." I told her it was wet because it's clearly raining and gonna snow tonight. I just told her never mind, thanks. That all said, for a mega Christian Church, I wish you would have more awareness on how to be more welcoming. Twice, you have shut me out without even looking at me face to face. I hope you're not like this with new guests. Feel free to respond to me Victory Church.
