This motel is clean and well situated off Highway 6 in the middle of town. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is new and the bathroom has an ample amount of amenities for guests. I would stay here again! read more

It was cool to see them, but was difficult to hear the guide if you were more than 6-8 people behind her. Missed out on fun facts about them and the area. But, worth it just to see them. Squat down and look up! Minor note: why is the outlet closest to the bathroom too far away (outside the bathroom) for the provided hair dryer?

It's a room with a bed, chair and en suite. There's a hot water maker with tea and coffee supplies but we found a dead moth and half filled smelly caraffe. The cups were also dirty. Be careful. There's enough for you to survive but I can't say I was comfortable since we killed 3 moths, 2 big flying insects that looked like mosquitoes & found a dead roach on my pillow. You do have use of the kitchen facilities in the hostel side which is great but it got really crowded and dirty with all the people staying here using it. Location is great since it's in the heart of the small town. We walked to and from, everywhere but it took us only 2 minutes to the farthest town destination. It was a bargain but I would have spent more on nicer accommodations. If you're there just to sleep overnite, this place is great for the price.

The home was clean, well-decorated, and had lovely mountain views. We were greeted with hot tea and cookies upon our arrival, which was nice. We stayed in a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a private but detached bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, very clean, and well stocked with towels. The shower's water pressure was a bit low and the water took a while to warm up, but that is fairly common. Breakfast was pleasant - we had fruit, cereal and yogurt, toast with butter and jam, coffee and orange juice. Having the option of eggs would have been nice. The property's gardens and pond were lovely, but we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the grounds, since we arrived around 9:00pm at night and left around 10:00am the next morning. It was unfortunate that checkout was around 10:00am - if it had been at noon, we would probably have had coffee on our room's back patio, read in bed for a bit, and walked around the yard. Also, I wish they took credit card, since paying in cash is always a pain. Overall, this was a pleasant experience and I'd recommend Reflection Lodge to those looking for a comfortable place to stay near Fox Glacier!

(NZ has SO many redeeming qualities that make it perfect for backpackers but access to reliable wifi while traveling is not one of them!) and even though the owners knew I was only one person and left me only one key, and they only asked asked me to pay for one person in the morning, they covertly then charged my credit card for the second booking, even though they knew it was a mistake and did not provide accommodation or services for the second booking - no second bed was reserved and no key was left for that second bed - and they refused to refund me. they took advantage of the accidental second booking to make easy money, and worst, they were completely unapologetic and told me it was my mistake and I had to pay for it - even though no services were provided. if they had given me two beds I could maybe understand. luckily my credit card company agreed this was fraud and deleted the charge. be careful with these owners and their business practices. I would recommend somewhere else.

It's cheaper than the other hotel (Hermitage) on the property but at ~$270/night it's not cheap. Examples of quality issues include.... -"King" bed is actually two twin beds pushed together. They put a pad (more like a cloth? About the thickness of a kitchen mitt) to cover the gap but you could definitely still feel it -Forgot to take a picture, sadly, but the top sheet of the bed had what appeared to be a dirty blackish grey bird footprint(?!) on it upon arrival -Toilet leaked water extensively from the base when you flushed or used the shower (see photo). Presumably this was clean water due to a faulty O ring but it was gross nonetheless -Breakfast is not included. Cheapest breakfast option on the property is $40 for the breakfast buffet. At a cheap motel I could see not having breakfast included, but for $270 a night this was a bit much. The kicker is that breakfast is not actually in the Lodge itself either - you have to walk 400m or so outside over to the Hermitage.
