Westfields is a semi private club that is open to the public. I was there for a charity event. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. A beautiful place for an event. The course was in pretty good condition a few of the tee boxes were a bit beat up. The greens are challenging and some of holes have a links golf feel. Nice practice facilities. The food was delicious especially the breakfast burrito. Nice pro shop & restroom facilities. Rounds aren't cheap but it's a challenging course. read more

My husband and I got married at the Westfields Golf Club in May and it was truly a perfect day. We worked closely with Ashley, who guided us through the wedding process very kindly. Was at a charity tournament this week. Course conditions: The fairways are beat up. The tee boxes are dirt and weeds. Staff: Cart woman was very nice so I tipped very generously. She was thankful. The staff in the dining area are great. However, the staff in the clubhouse, course, and administrators seem like they are doing you a favor if they do anything at all. It is the same bad attitude of this group of staff in the clubhouse, course, and administrators. I think they need to promote the cart woman (older hispanic lady) and the dining staff. Then, fire everyone else. As a guy who just retired, I've played at too many courses in VA to settle for the bad experience here. If you want to hold a golf tournament and you are considering Westfields, keep looking. This is a bad place. read more

Fun for my first time on a golf course. Came for a charity event and everything was well organized, very nice staff, and nice club house. The guys in my group with club rentals said the clubs were too notch, and semi difficult course. We had to keep the carts on the path and they removed the bathroom on the course, so we had to stop at the clubhouse midway for a break. The beverage carts stopped by at least 4 times which was nice. All the staff were very nice and helpful. read more

Beautiful course and highly recommended to any golfer to play here. I noticed that the guy who keeping time of playing on the golf course playing the "push game" by telling each group that couple groups up front is playing slow and you must keep pushing them. Then he been telling those guys in the back of us that we are the one that holding up. For 18 holes, we have to wait for the group up front which was fine with us because it was busy. But the group behind keep trashing us, try send us some kind of messages, like "come on girls", "Fore!!". And at the end of the 18, one of the staff came to us and said that they heard what happened, and sorry because of those guys are the members and they are always do that to other golfer. ??? That was the end of the pushing game, highlights was a beverage cart lady, she always there when we needed more beer. read more

Great course around the DC area. The staff is first rate and treat you right. The clubhouse is nice and the food is good too. The driving range gives you great targets but the mats tend to grab your clubs. The fitting station I hear from a friend is first rate; it's a little pricey ($100-135) but they check everything unlike most retail stores. The course itself is tough from the tips. Like the other reviewer said it's tree lined but playable. You also rarely have a straight putt. Some of the greens were a little chewed up when I played, but overall the course was in fantastic condition. This is a great track in the DC area and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a challenge. read more

This place right here!!! This is the place I've been looking for my whole life! I've been to big events at nice places all over the country. I went here last week for a cousins wedding reception. Just driving up to this place I could feel something about it. The inside reception area is beautifully dressed and the lay out is ideal. However, what blew me away was the staff. I've been in the service business for 25 years so I know the hood stuff when I see it. EVERY staff member was courteous, professional, and attentive. The boss lady that was running stole the show with the greatest level of service possible (which was attending to the need of a member at my table.) she didn't have to do that, but she did and did it with urgency. I swearANY event I'm going to have will be held here from now on. I will recommend this to EVERY person I know needing to have an event. The atmosphere was perfect, and the event was flawless! I love this course. The course isn't in peak condition, but that can be attributed to the brutal heat and the insane amount of rain. The pace of play was just under 4 hours and it was cart path only (to let the fair ways heal). Otherwise, they allowed me to ride solo (I am a high risk individual) and blocked out the fourth spot in the group to allow me my individual cart. Staff was super friendly, per usual, and I had an awesome time. Westfields is expensive, but it's worth it. read more

One of my favorite courses in northern Virginia. The price point is quite high but it's worth it. The course layout is tough. Unless you're a low single handicap player, I don't recommend playing from the boom boom tees. And if you're a beginner, I don't recommend this course at all. The course is long and a challenge with sloped greens, tough lies, and hazards everywhere. The course isn't terribly tight in terms of tree lined fairways but expect blind shots if you're off the fairways. It's a tough challenge overall without being overwhelming. The course condition is pretty good with lush greens and fairways. The service is first class - they clean your clubs after the round and carry your bags from the bag drop off to the tee and vice versa. read more

This place has really gone to hell. A couple years back, it was in solid (not great, but solid) shape. As of yesterday, it's a freakin' war zone. And for $89 a round (on a Thursday at 1pm, no less), I expected WAY better. Especially when the folks in the proshop and the starter are telling me how great the conditions are. Seriously, I'd call it a 3 out of 10. Range: off mats. SERIOUSLY? For $89, I want grass. Every. Damn. Day. The tees boxes are burned and patchy. Think East Potomac. The fairways are frequently thin of grass, and in many areas it quite honestly should have been marked ground under repair. Looks like a nice 50-50 blend of bare mud and grass. Approaches on several holes were literally torn up. It's like they started to fix things and then forgot, some grass started growing back in poorly, and then that tore up another area near it. No. 7 is a PRIME example of this. And the greens were nothing short of atrocious. They were heavily damaged with ball marks, spike tracks from people not picking up their feet when they walk, and many bare spots. They did roll fast, but they were so bumpy, it didn't matter. This was really just a totally unpleasant afternoon from a golf perspective. $89 for a course this shredded is a joke, especially when you are touting yourselves as a premier course and splashing Freddie's name all over the place. I will not be coming back here for the foreseeable future, and the management should be ashamed for charging those ridiculous prices. read more

I have played Westfields several times since moving to VA. The Fred Couples course is definitely one of the nicest courses in the area, and may be the nicest public course. The course is challenging but fair. The course is visually stunning with tree lined fairways, but the fairways are usually open with good sized landing areas. There are a few holes that you have to think about leaving the driver in the bag. The greens are always in great shape, roll very true and have good speed for both the low handicap and casual golfers. Staff is first rate here, always do their best to make sure you have a great round of golf. Greens fees run just over $100 for primetime on a weekend, but they have decent twilight rates. Given the cost of some courses in NOVA, I'd say that even the primetime rate is good value. read more

You'll pay top dollar to play, but it will be a great experience! I've had the pleasure of playing at Westfield a couple of times now and love the course. First off, someone will meet you at your car in the parking lot to grab your bags. They are whisked away to the golf cart as you make your way to the pro-shop to check in and pay. Now most places that I play, you get your receipt and make your way to the starter. At Westfield, they'll radio down or do whatever it is that they do so that by the time you make it down to the starter, you are all set. No receipt to worry about, just good ole advice on hazards and course conditions. Westfield also offers complimentary range balls. In terms of the course itself, the yardage runs from 4600 yards for the Reds to a respectable 6900 yards for the boom-boom tees. Fairways are average, with a variety of narrow and wide open holes. Hazards are scattered about including a number of sandtraps around the greens as well as some water and trees that line the fairways. If you tend to be errant of the tee, club down because there are a number of holes where the trees/high grass make balls almost impossible to find. I found the toughest part of the course to be the greens as most are undulating, making finding a rhythm on your putting difficult. Many of your putts will include up/down hills which makes 3 putts particularly annoying and quickly add up. All in all though, would definitely play again and would recommend checking out. read more

Probably one of the worst values you can find in NoVa. The greens fees are a haughty $70 for a midweek round, which is significantly higher than many of the muni's in the area. To top it off, the greens were in atrocious shape. Perhaps the Greenskeeper lost his job and was replaced by an amateur? Regardless, the course should offer a significant discount to account for the disasters posing as greens. read more

Beautiful public golf course. You feel like you're in a private club. The place is immaculate and the course is well groomed with beautiful fairways, fast greens and well maintained traps. The greens really are the defense of this place other than the many fairway bunkers, most of which are beyond my tee shot, thankfully. Longer hitters beware. The greens are small with undulations and I still don't know how the get the ball to break up hill........ Anyway, there's a well-stocked pro shop, on course refreshments, a nice putting green and driving range, and the grill has nice food, a great beverage selection and several TV's. Not the cheapest round but there are specials and it's a great place for a client outing or a just a nice day on the course. read more

Not worth $60 for 3:40 tee time on a weekday. Fairways burnt and greens were air rated. It was like putting on a beach. The guys in the pro shop not the friendliest. Rather drive 45 minutes to MD (Worthington Manor or PB Dye) to play far better quality course for less. read more

The golf course is fine, deserving of more than 1 star. But we're in COVID and this course makes strangers share golf carts. Most other courses at least permit strangers to take their own carts, if not for free at least for a fee. Some other courses even require it. But we could not even purchase a separate cart. Highly irresponsible of a golf club and I will not be going back. read more

Deceptively difficult. My group was able to find good prices for this course so the price wasn't as big of an object for me. If I'm reading it right, normal prices for this course is over $100. I don't know if it's worth that price, but it sure is a nice course. Definitely one of the better public courses within an hour's drive of DC. The staff are attentively and reminds me of a country club. The course is filled with natural landscaping and rolling hills. There are some beautiful holes that are built around the natural ponds that require precise shot shaping. At first look, the fairways seem wide open but if you veer off into the woods, forget about find your ball. The woods are extremely dense. You're going to slow up the pace quite a bit if you think you can find your ball in there. To appreciate this course, play to your abilities. If you're shooting 90+ on most courses, please, please don't tee off from the Boom Boom tees. read more

Been searching for "good" courses since moving to DC. This place was very nice, much more like the level of service, amenities and cleanliness I'm used to from Atlanta. The starter was on his game for certain, perfectly spacing out groups. Unlimited range balls are included in the round fee and you get nice carts with markers, tees, towels and cold wet towels when you're done. They take your clubs to a cart for you from the drop, the menu and bar was nice, they could easily have a wedding or large corporate event in the clubhouse, there are showers and lockers and overall, not even to mention the course yet, this place was very nice. It's about an hour drive from DC, but the greens, scenery and service are totally worth it. I also loved that big beautiful airplanes are landing into dulles overhead, that was cool as I'm a airplane fan. This is the best course I've found in DC area, can't wait to come back as the fall weather and leaves start to change, I bet it's gorgeous. read more

This review is about The Golf Fitting Studio at Westfields, which is adjacent to the Golf Club clubhouse. I want to highly recommend the co-owner and professional club fitter, Todd Tschantz. I'm an older golfer who decided to get new clubs, which would fit my "senior" swing better. Todd worked with me patiently and professionally over three sessions to find the right combination of irons, hybrids, and a new driver with the right weight, shaft, and lie adjustments. After the clubs arrived, he fine-tuned them to be sure they were optimized for my swing. Todd definitely knows what he's doing, how to assess your swing, and fit you with clubs that will make the game much more enjoyable. Every dime I spent with him, was well worth it and I can't recommend him and the process highly enough. Do this, if you want to be a better golfer! read more

WEDDING REVIEW ONLY!! Westfields Golf Club is nothing short of amazing!! This venue offers the perfect indoor/outdoor wedding solution for the cautious bride! The outdoor pavilion is great, and the deck can be tented in case of inclement weather. We really enjoyed working with Ashley; she was a dream!! I emailed Ashley so many times, visited the venue so many times, and Ashley was so kind in every email and at every visit! Responses were always quick and informative! I didn't hire an event planner, but having Ashley made it feel like I did! With Ashley in charge, we were really able to relax and enjoy our day. Westfields was always flexible and accommodating. We did a buffet meal with steak and salmon, but they allowed us to offer plated chicken and vegetarian meals at no extra cost. The food was really good, even though, like most couples, we didn't eat much. I would warn couples about the capacity of the venue. I think the banquet room would be too crowded and slightly awkward with 200 guests. We ended up with around 160. I'm very thankful for that because I don't think I would have liked the room setup with 200 guests. With 160ish seats everything was perfect, and I loved the room setup! Our only two (minor) complaints are that the bar ran out of Crown Royal , and that the room was a little warm. The team at Westfields really went above and beyond to make our day special, and we truly had the time of our lives! Thank you Westfields for all of your amazing hard work and dedication! read more

Gary L must have had the same starter we did. Not only did we get a lecture about the pace, but another employee followed me into the clubhouse after the first nine to inquire how long I would be inside. Would I be having lunch, or going right out to the 10th hole? I AM GOING TO USE THE BATHROOM, I replied. Gee, the starter told me I could have a 5 minute break between front and back 9. But. since the initial lecture got us started late, I guess I had to forgo my 5 minute break. This course is really nice, is in great shape, and is challenging. But I have played many courses across the US - private, public, and semi-private - and this is the most snobby place I have played. I cannot believe the staff all have earphones so they can manage the comings and goings of each cart. Yes, I like that everyone needs to keep pace, but this is not a luxurious country club, nor was it really crowded, and it is in the middle of nowhere. Very pretentious. Play there if you want to a good course, AND like to be micromanaged. read more

Todd at the Golf Fitting Studio is an all star personally and professionally. We did an assessment of the irons I had (more than 10 years old) and then he made suggestions on 4 alternatives with the benefits of each. This is all done in their state of the art studio that allows you to hit onto the driving range, not into a net. The process took about an hour and for $100 I felt like the proper research had been done to allow me to feel comfortable spending my hard earned on new irons. Picked up my new irons last night, hit balls for a 1/2 hour in front of the tracking device and the results are there to see. Better distance, trajectory, tighter ball dispersion. Never felt like I was being sold anything, Todd is there to provide, information, insight, advice. I went to Westfields for a club fitting today - awesome. My typical round may only be in the 90s, but I am serious about my game (when I can find time to play). This place has most brands, every loft for those brands, and every shaft on the market. They start by assessing your swing with your current club and then start recommending clubs, lofts, and shafts based on a handful of metrics, such as club head speed, spin, and launch angle. For $100, the pro spent almost 2 hours with me (slow day - afternoon before a long holiday weekend) critiquing my swing, helping me make adjustments, and evolving through different club head settings and then shafts until the right solution was obtained. I was hitting up to 30 yards farther on average about a half hour into the fitting. For example, he would have me show a little extra knuckle on my left hand or move my right shoulder back more until my club head angles of impact were optimized. He could see the results on the computer, and I could see the results with the ball's trajectory onto the driving range. I felf that the pro cared about my results. He saw that I was performing better with a $200+ shaft but was hesitant to pay that much extra, so he offered to sell me a brand new one that he had bought for himself. Bottom line: For $35 more than I would pay at a basic sporting goods store (excluding pro fitting fees that many of them charge), I walked away with a Titleist driver head, my choice of a grip (installed), a stock shaft, a top of the market replacement shaft, shipping directly to my house, taxes, a 2 hour consultation using a $15k radar swing monitor system, and a follow up visit after I get the club and try it out. The second hour and the side deal for the upgraded shaft may be an anomoly, but I still would have offered 5 stars for a one hour fitting if I left with just the stock shaft. read more

This Marriot run facility is run at a Ritz Carlton level. Their staff is very friendly and attentive. The clubhouse is what you would expect from a higher end private facility. Their range is a bit cramped and needs a more accesible chipping/sand practice area. Couse conditions have over the years always been at least very good and usually excellent. The layout has an intimidating feel with its densely tree lined fairways, but its more open and playable than it looks. The tees and grees are well constructed big enough that they never get played out. Its one of my local favorites. read more

I've played the majority of public courses in the NOVA region (and several private ones) - Westfields is a firm favourite of mine. The golf is pretty much always in great shape, it feels very much like a private course in terms of the quality of the fairways and greens. The course is a challenge but extremely fair - the rough is long enough without being ridiculous, the bunkers are nice to play out of, go really wild and you'll lose a ball in the trees. 6500 off the blues, so it has length withouth being truly 'long'. The layout is great - lots of diferent holes without feeling too quirky like a Nicklaus sometimes does. Hole 3 is tough. Hole 8 is one of the hardest holes in the area. Hole 16 is a great risk reward. The 5s are really fun - a couple reachable (just) in 2. The staff are great, very friendly. The only fault I have is the bar area is pretty basic and it would be nicer to have a more welcoming space for post round drinks/food. Also, the teach staff are great - I've had mutliple instructors over the years and no one has made as much difference to my game as Brian, the lead instructor. Sunday we played (7.20am tee) and were done in 3hrs 50 mins. read more

I just played Westfields again last Thursday and again it was a fantastic experience (other than my score this particular round). This Freddy Couples design is one of the best tracks in Northern VA. The selection of tee boxes provide a variety of looks at the course, so choose well or it could be a tough day. The course is not as scary as it looks from the tees so don't be intimidated... the landing zones are bigger than you think. Westfields is always in good shape and this day was no exception. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is good and the beers are cold. They are currently remodeling the restaurant area and adding an outside deck. read more

The staff at Westfields saved me in a big way last week! After playing the last hole of the day (13th since it was an outing), I realized I could not locate my phone. I was trying to play it cool, thinking it would surface quickly, but an hour had passed and I grew concerned. The pro shop and the head pro saw my distress and helped me search and locate it in the cart return garage. Not the end of the world to lose a phone, but definitely a stressful experience. *Fitting Studio Review ONLY* My Ping driver cracked but was thankfully under warranty. I immediately contacted Ping who agreed to replace it at no cost. I was told to drop it off at one of their retailers. I chose Westfields because it is a "Top 100" fitter for Ping. I drove over, went to the studio, and was greeted right away. After I spoke with the gentleman in the fitting studio, he took my information and said he would contact me with shipping information within a few days. After three weeks, I still had not received shipping information or received the replacement club, so I contacted Westfields. I was told that UPS lost my driver but they would drive to the UPS facility to track down my club that night. Another few days went by, and I received a call from Westfields letting me know UPS found my club and Ping would expedite shipping so I receive it soon. I appreciated this, but because I was only given general information and nothing specific, I called Ping to try to get more information. I learned that the claim for my club just happened to be initiated on the same day that I called Westfields to check the status of my club three weeks after I initially dropped it off. Of course, this may just be coincidence, but it seems my club was completely forgotten about by Westfields and blaming UPS was the easiest thing to do. Whatever the case may be, it's been more than a month and I still don't have my club back. It's frustrating as I've had a few days off work this month and beautiful fall days but have been unable to play golf. Needless to say, I've been disappointed with this situation, and I hope this does not happen to others. read more

Ah Westfields...my new "Fave" course in NOVA ! Played there yesterday with my two boys as an early father's day gift. From the time you hit the "bag drop" until your round is over this track is 1st Class all the way. Hospitality with a capital H. Whatever they are paying the "cart girl"... she should be given a raise ! Ask yourself...when was the last time, if ever, the cart girl asked if you would like a cold towel ! Course was in great shape... can't wait to play this course in the fall ! No gimmick holes, well laid out, a true challenge but fair track. I played here last summer when the course conditions were less than favorable for the $100 I spent to play, but was given a free round of golf to go back and try it again. Very glad I went back! Golf course was in great shape when we played over Memorial Day weekend, greens were firm and fast, and the staff has that "country club" level service. Played this course while in Arlington, Va (Aug 2012). Their motto is public golf kept private. As soon as we pulled in an attendant unloaded our clubs and took them to the cart pick up. The rental clubs were Calloway's latest models, in both left and right hand (two members of our group had to rent clubs). All the holes from tee box to green were in great shape. The course was challenging and fun. If I am ever back in this area I will most definitely play this course again. When the round was over they even cleaned the clubs and loaded them back into the car.....and it was great service with a smile...... read more
