The new pavilion is impressive--the park group worked to provide a comfortable spot for dog owners while the dogs play. Water is available to the dogs is owners pump it form the available well or they can bring their own. Poop bags are provided but owners make the $$$ of keeping up the park less if they bring their own bags. PROBLEM: CERTAIN OWNERS REFUSE TO PICK UP THEIR DOG'S POOP, LEAVING A MESS FOR OTHER USERS OF THE PARK. NO REQUESTS TO PICK UP YOUR DOG'S POOP HAVE BEEN HONORED. A fabulous place for the whole family, trees, grass, sun, shade, and the playground will be updated eventually The funny thing about the park signs is that they are small/over grown, or too old, and the large one on Kendall Street actually faces across the street, looking into trees and shrubs. No one is going to find that park opening easily :)

If you are coming and it's winter with snow in the ground, DO NOT come unless if you are driving a truck with four wheel drive or snow tire. Otherwise you will be stuck and can't get out. The roads are dirt road and they are not plowed. This happened to me as I took a risk driving a sedan in, kind souls at the playground accompanying their kids helped me to dig my car out of the snow. I would never want anyone else to go through my traumatic experience. It's a nice park I think, at least my dog had a blast there. There is a golden doodle that frequents here and he has a ton of energy and is a goof, my dog loved him. There is a picnic table to sit at. I dont recall there being toys there since it was the winter when i was there and the ground was covered with snow. There is only 1 section no small/large dog area.

Met up with a friend from the area en route to NH and we took a pit stop here. He told me you can see them best if you put a little water in the print to see the contrast and that really brought them to life. Couple tips: -Bug spray! Down by the water is mosquito heaven and I'm still picking my skin over a week later. -Solid footwear. You don't need hiking boots but a legit sole and covered toe would be good. It's slippery, slanted, and rocky. -sunglasses, water, or a hat. It's exposed and you'll cook. Don't plan your trip around this but def stop by if you're in the area!!

But this is a beautiful free spot to check out on the Connecticut River. I quite enjoyed myself... But don't tell the kids it is jurassic park or anything... You don't need to deal with that fall out. Just a nice road side stop for a pleasant walk with a couple of signs of prehistoric life. No bathrooms and very little parking but there isn't enough to do n to keep you there long enough that you'll feel the need to pee.

No rocks, no tree roots, and not too much animal waste except for one enormous deposit that had us wondering if it was squeezed out by a Great Dane or a bear!! We took one of the side trails to the right and entered the river basin where we saw some jaw dropping beautiful vistas down in the valley. Five stars for a photo op, believe me. We walked all the way to the event meadow, but things were quiet today. Salmon Brook Park has a lot to offer - a Band Shell, an Event Room, Baseball Fields, Basketball, Volleyball, and Tennis Courts, Field Hockey, Soccer and Lacrosse Fields, a river, a playground, 2 picnic pavilions, and that very nice network of Hiking Trails. Come to think of it, it has pretty much everything you need to spend a few very nice hours in the great outdoors.
