Ambiance: This was my first time going to a Renaissance Festival so I did not know what to expect…read more Everyone was dressed up for this festival! There were many elaborate costumes and people were in character and spoke with some sort of English accent. Food: This is medieval Europe after all...don't expect the highest quality food. Expect high prices though! A turkey leg was $19 and a chicken breast on a stick was $15+! Sysco Chicken tenders and fries were $15+. The food was awful. Come snacked and ready! Vendors: There are a ton of small businesses and vendors. Many of these businesses sell medieval themed handmade armor, garments, and accessories. Overall, I had a good time at my first Renaissance festival. There was plenty to do, and lots of entertainment scattered in the park.

This is the less stars and the "Maybe" part on my review. The feast was NOT AT ALL worth it!!!!! The food was ok at best. My 1/2 of a Cornish hen was bloody and pink inside. Tasted good, but not enough food! Potatoes were good. Green beans were ok. I will NEVER again eat at the Faire again! Fair food is not that good, and it's SEVERELY overpriced!!! I understand the Faire is being run by new management and it's not going over well. Scarborough has always had a certain ambiance. As long as the new owners don't try to change a lot, just improvements, I think it'll continue to be a place people will return to.

As far as festivals go, this is definitely a good one!! I'd come back again…read more I enjoyed the outside atmosphere and they had tons of food and wine vendors. I did taste a lot of good food and some good wine - I'm not a huge sweet wine drinker and most of the wines that were there to sample were on the "too sweet" side for me. The food was really tasty though! I enjoyed the little samples mixed in with the wine. My favorite sample was the first vendor I tasted (I wish I remembered the name of the place) but they had brought chicken, pork, and ribs. I tried them all and the ribs were definitely the best. They had the 1 Cav jazz band out there playing. They were good and it absolutely went with the feel of the festival. The biggest issue I had with this is that they only gave you 5 tasting tickets for the wine... that's 1 ticket per 1oz pour on top of a $25 entrance fee. The wine vendors and the event host(s) I don't think ironed out exactly what they were going to do. Many vendors told me that I could buy more tasting tickets but this was not true. You could buy samples directly from the vendors. I think that was a bit confusing for both the guests and the vendors. They advertised a BBQ cookoff however, I didn't see one there. I'm sure they had one but I didn't see anyone cooking. Honestly, it wasn't a well planned out festival. I think perhaps next year they'll do better with some more planning, a better wine tasting plan, and some more signs or an MC or something to tell people where to go for certain events.
