Perpetuators of Adelaide's Ramping Problem…read more 30 year old male presented with a cough, breathless, dizziness and some mild chest pain, wanting an ECG and bloods, as issues had being going on for 2 weeks. Before I could even explain my condition, I was told the only way I can be treated is taken to ED in an ambulance because apparently any chest pain = heart attack and nothing else. A 30 year old man suffering a 2-week heart attack? That's a first. The young triage nurse said I could book a GP appointment, before the older nurse slapped her advice down and chided that "if you say you're having chest discomfort, the GP's will put you in an ambulance as well". "What if it's not a heart attack? It's not just my chest, there's other issues. Could I get an ECG or blood test to see if it's something less serious? "The GP's are not here to go on a "Fishing Expedition". Unprofessional defensive medicine. No wonder there's a ramping crisis.
