My grandmother stayed here after falling over, she has cancer and is very unwell. She was treated so bad, it was practically neglect.
She went to shower? NOPE! Despite having made it clear she needed support showering, she was offered no help until her husband arrived to help her himself, when they got to the shower the tiles were cracked and chipped, she could've cut herself, and there was urine on the floor from the previous occupant. They decided not to take a shower. Nobody gave her any food until her husband had asked twice for her meals. She was given medicine without anyone checking to see if it clashed with her current medication. She was offered no help in changing her clothes. She was put in a room with a woman with severe dementia that was rambling on, swearing and all sorts from 3am-6am. The next day my grandmother requested a different room as she had no sleep and was already exhausted. She was put in another room with a woman very similar, only this time it was also two doors down from the staff room, where she could hear the nurses loudly chatting and laughing at 5am, again, she had no sleep. This is not the only bad experience I have had with this hospital, my partner's grandmother was treated very similarly.
My family is furious at this appalling treatment of my terminally ill grandmother. Avoid this hospital at all costs, I'd recommend Ashford, where my grandmother is now receiving excellent care with lovely doctors. read more
