Decent place to stay, needs updating, but for the price point it's pretty good. There are three places to stay in Butler, and this is the middle one. Management is pretty cool as long as you behave and are respectful of others. read more

We have stayed at The Mason several times while visiting my family and absolutely love the place. You get a fully stocked kitchen, a nice deck out back, 2 comfortable bedrooms, a well appointed living room (w/ dish network and dvd player) and best of all, a powerful shower and coffee to wake you up in the morning. Unless you like fighting over who gets in the bathroom first when you come to visit family or come hunting, I would highly recommend checking this place out.

This is an old school place and might not be the most updated but there's no bugs, the bed is comfy, the ac is great & the hospitality was top notch! Extremely fair prices for what you get. Doesn't include the towels and TP but DG is right next door if you need anything. We had a shutdown at GP & stayed for about 10 days and had no problem supplying our own towels & toiletries. We are genuinely sad to be leaving C&S. We made a friend for life meeting Mr.Carl and hope to be back & see him again!

If you…read moreabsolutely HAD to stay in Demopolis, this is your best bet for not waking up the next morning covered in bedbug bites. The rooms were clean enough, the staff was nice I guess. Whatever. The bad news: We had no hot water in our showers. The front desk claimed that since we were at the end of the hall it took longer for the showers to warm up. The shower never warmed up. The whole place looked like someone had raided the house of a recently deceased grandmother who hadn't updated her furniture since 2003. We were told that the breakfast was "made to order", but that turned out to be telling someone behind a window to make something. There wasn't even a menu which seems like the least they could do. The rest of the breakfast, if you could even call it that, was some prepackaged shit that looked like it had been there since the beginning of the pandemic. Real classy. Not gonna lie the coffee was pretty decent. So long demopolis, I hope we never meet again.

I like to imagine the industry that played out in the space where I'm resting, the thought of someone taking a break from wheeling and dealing to look out of this same window in the 1940s and what else was going on around them. I'd never been to Meridian before, just passed through on the same road trip home after the holidays. It's about 4 and a half hours from NOLA and the perfect place to stay before the final leg of the trip home so that we'd be home at a reasonable hour. Meridian feels a bit frozen in time and this hotel is situated in a quaint downtown area. It's not very lively, even on a Saturday night but I believe the rooftop bar here might be where the action is (I passed it by when getting water in the gym that's on the same floor). I like a Tribute property, which always promises a less corporate/more boutique stay. It has its charm (original mail chute, be still my heart!) and quirks (tiny rooms, old timey elevators that take their time). The main lobby is mainly the restaurant (closed when I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday) with reception in what seems like bank teller windows. I appreciate the convenience of a Starbucks right next door (entrance from the lobby) and if we weren't looking to rest after a endless car ride, there's a few places to get food/drinks within walking distance. Rooms are cozy, beds are excellent and the bathroom is small/nothing special. Would this be an ideal stay for a vacation? Probably not, though I don't expect a vacation in Meridian anytime soon, if ever. I'd stay again, as a more interesting road trip stay than your typical Marriott Courtyards/Fairfield/Residence Inns. When we stayed it was only a little over 100 dollars/night, which is pretty sweet.

I found hair in my food and the food attendant refused to keep the food items stocked. At 859 AM there were no more grits, eggs, and sausage and she said that she wasn't making any more because breakfast was too close to being over. Mind you that breakfast ends at 1000. 12 people came after I sat down and they had even less to eat. I am not asking that Hampton Inn Jackson waste money with having to throw away food, but at least serve until 15-30 minutes prior to the posted closing time. Love the way the room was staged. The Christmas decorations throughout the hotel were beautiful and tasteful. As we drive away, I wish we had taken photos to share. Breakfast was well presented, as full as I have ever seen at a Hampton Inn. The dining area was tidy, and everything I had was the right temperature. There were plenty of other guests, but the Breakfast attendant was doing a wonderful job. Portia, the front desk manager, was friendly, professional, and seemed to truly enjoy speaking with me and others in line. A smile goes a long way. When I bragged on the lovely Christmas decor, Portia let me know that she had decorated the hotel on her own. What a treasure! Between her professional manner and warm attitude and doing such a great job of decorating, I really wanted to say "woman, what are you doing here?!" Great stay. Thank you, Hampton Inn of Jackson, Alabama.

The comfort in was the only other option and closer to the interstate, but it was $90 more?! So we thought, "what the hell" $65 after taxes...okay fine. Pulling up I thought, "oh lord this run down roach motel" but as soon as I opened the door to a crisp cool room with a clean smell I said, "oh sh*t, okay "... the room is a very gracious size, with plenty of space and a fridge. I was expecting a tiny shower, but Its plenty of space for 2 to get raunchy. I even like the updated tile and the floors throughout are really nice. I scoured the room for bugs...nothing and other than the 1950s air-conditioning, it's clean enough I'm comfortable. The bed is great, but almost gotta take a running head start to get into it. The sheet you sleep on is like a light face towel...sorta ruff, but soft..its hard to explain, but it's actually really nice. The pillow top is nice, but it's not been rotated so the head is lower than the feet, so I gotta sleep with my head at the foot or my boobs will suffocate me, but Its comfy. I am assuming they don't have breakfast, and I'm not taking a chance on looking in the ice bin way up front... but I hope more people look past the ruff exterior and give Comfort Inn the finger as the unload into this high rise of a motel!
