It has a great history and tradition, dating all the way back to 1880 (1899 at present location), and it was even added to the National Register of Historic Places a quarter century ago. While it has been years since President William Howard Taft played at the Cincinnati Tennis Club (I bet he didn't chase down too many shots), the club is still a high-end and prestigious club. The CTC has 10 outdoor clay courts and is open April through October. The club offers lessons, leagues, a tune-up tournament for the Cincinnati Met, and other tennis activities (and a pro shop) for all ages, and it once hosted the pro tournament now known as the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters, but the Cincinnati Tennis Club is mostly associated these days with hosting the USTA National Father-Son Clay Court Championships. It's a really big event that takes place each year, bringing some of the best father and son talent from around the country all the way to Cincinnati since 1974. While the CTC has a nice reputation in town, it seems that being a member at the club is a status symbol more than anything else. The membership dues aren't cheap, and if you really want to work on your tennis game and get to play year-round, while also having access to things like a fitness center, swimming pool, and more, you would be better off at a place like Harper's Point, Queen City, or Five Seasons. Sure, the club is really nice and boasts a great history, but it's more for the country club crowd than it is for families and the everyday competitive and recreational players.

Tonight we are being treated to BAMSO-BLUE ASH MONTGOMERY SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. quite the performance focused on memorial of servicemen/ women Douglas Knehans created a piece related to his father's experience in WW2. SWIMMERS BEWARE. UC…read moreRec is a world class facility, and I have been a community member [read: ADULT with ADULT schedule] for several years mainly for the joy of swimming in the natatorium. So, what's your two-star beef, lady? I swim long distances. I prefer deeper lanes for cooler water temperature and less turbulence. In order to ensure that I will procure my preferred lanes, I check the Aquatics Department's calendar and schedule my swims when the calendar states that 10 lanes will be available for lap swimming. A month ago, I was asked to vacate my lane and squeeze into one of the 5 shallow lanes in order to make room for a community swim team that had reserved the deeper lanes for their practice. Check my math here, but I think the calendar should have reflected that only 5 lanes were available at the time of the reservation. (As a side note, why does the team's reservation (or revenue) trump my monthly membership fee?). I left the Aquatics director a message to this effect. No call back. Fool me once. The same thing happened again today. Fool me twice, shame on me. There will be no third time. I've already cancelled my membership, as I indicated that I would in my message for the Aquatics Director. I will join a facility that values my time, schedule, and membership, in part, by keeping an accurate calendar. However, if you are ok with this type of shoddy operations' management, UC Rec is a fabulous place.

It seemed like they have quite a few amenities. The gym was very clean and the equipment was old, but it worked. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only part of the facility I used was the gym so I can't speak to anything else, but it had plenty of equipment to help me get my workout in.

My instructors are Jason and John who are incredible. They will do everything they can to help you play well. As far as the facility, it needs massive improvements... the bathrooms and showers look like a hostel and college dorm showers are better than this. The court time, practice fees, are higher than other clubs even if the membership is slightly lower. Positive shout out to Kim in Billing and Andrew who is the asst. Director but not the one in charge. You two did your jobs well.
