Within 2 years after installation, we discovered several major shortcuts taken by the installers: they failed to install a safety switch (which led to a leak and ceiling damage) and didn't install the correct breaker for the unit. Each of these led to costs for us to repair. Now, we are dealing with a faulty coil and another $1500 repair bill. The most disappointing part is the lack of accountability. We shared all this information with Dave. It took 2 days to return a call then another week for him to say they wouldn't do anything to make it right. Instead they simply said we should have called them for repairs. Well when the ceiling is leaking, or the house is hot you call who can be there in 15 minutes. Not a company that will call back later. They may be nice people, but based on my experience, they don't stand by their work and their installation quality is poor. You would think local installers would understand that doing the right thing will always pay dividends. Apparently not in this case.

We had a full HVAC upgrade and replaced the condenser, cooling unit, vent plates, and duct work. The team started in the morning around 9am or so and finished at about 6pm - for all of the work they had to do and having to access the cooling unit in a tight space in the attic, they accomplished a lot in a day's work. To Frank Gay's credit, they came out quickly and determined that the capacitor had blown. I was relieved because it was an older unit. However, the service tech insisted that my machine needed to be replaced. He said it was in critical condition and showed me the readout. He said it was over-amping and wouldn't last two months. Fortunately, they had a "special" going on for new units. Sounded like a sales pitch so I took a picture of the readout he showed me and uploaded it to ChatGPT. It said not to trust those numbers because they were way off and it looked like the probes were reversed. ChatGPT encouraged me to call someone else. So I did. Chilly Billy's came out today - two days later. The AC guy was named Nas - very easy to talk to and smart. He ran the same tests and determined that while my unit is pretty old - it's working fine. The numbers were well within manufacturer guidelines. They said they would not recommend replacing the unit. So, I learned I can't trust Frank Gay. Unfortunately, the issue was a defective coil and, although it was covered by my warranty (I replaced the unit in 2017), it was still a bit of a pricey fix and took over a month because the part had to be manufactured. Keiley was super helpful and kept me updated throughout the process, and I decided to get a preventative maintenance agreement for twice a year service because I didn't want anything like this to happen again. We have had several service visits, including one to our new house right after we moved. I believe the technician Javier has come to every one of the visits, and he is extremely professional and really goes above and beyond. There was an issue right after we moved in (because I installed the thermostat - badly) and even though I believe it was slightly out of the scope of his job, Javier took the time to help me fix my mistakes.
