Who knows what has to be done to get through this difficult time when all you want to do is join your loved one in heaven? With all of the family bickering that went on (yes, even then) William Curran knew exactly what had to be done and did what he had to in the eyes of the law and God. He never took sides, he handled everything with the utmost respect, care and was very professional. The services he provided were well worth that little bit extra compared to the "other" places I called. it's like going to the dollar store and getting lotion for your baby because it's cheaper and then she breaks out in a terrible rash. This is my comparison to the other places. As for McKeon, it was like shopping at Lord and Taylor. He made sure my husband's appearance was as if he was taking a nap.The casket was beautiful. I picked out a beautiful Urn to put my husband's ashes. Everything was the way it should have been. Bill was very comforting and he made everything so easy. I had a million questions. He took my calls every single time and was never bothered. He is eager to help and has the best facility. He showed us downstairs and the embalming room. All was clean and I cannot tell you how satisfied I am. I wish that I can do something as wonderful for him one day, that's how happy everyone was with the services provided. Don't bother to shop around. Your loved ones are precious and even in death, they deserve the best. Thank you Bill.

I do now know anyone laid to rest at Gate of Heaven, Mrs. K. and I stopped through here to see the final resting places of some famous people. Gate of Heaven and Kensico Cemetery are adjacent to each other but are operated separately. Kensico was founded in 1889 as a non-sectarian burial ground. Gate of Heaven Cemetery, on the other hand, was established later and is owned and operated by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York. Certainly there are more crosses and other religious icons here at Gate of Heaven. We were able to easily find what we wanted to see. New York Yankees coach Billy Martin. Hollywood actor James Cagney. Baseball player Babe Ruth's grave was easy to spot, adorned with ball caps and such. It is a pleasant park-like atmosphere and worth remembering that some people aren't sight-seeing here, so please be respectful. [Review 1148 of 2025 - 569 in New York - 24701 overall]

At the cemetary, as the priest blessed the coffin, I recognized that the funeral home embossed the wrong name on the outside of my father's coffin! There was nothing I could do at that moment because of distraught family members. If I were there alone, I would have stopped the burial! Instead, I immediately contacted the funeral home. To this day, four months later, Matt and the funeral home have not corrected the problem. I have called a number of times. I would NOT recommend this funeral home because of their insincerity and refusal to take responsibility for their mistake. The idea of my father's coffin having the wrong name on it makes me crazy on a daily basis. My father has gone to meet his Maker in a coffin with a mistake that will stay there virtually forever.
