My doctor was great! Office staff not so much. They were nice enough- bare minimum efforts. I had been told on two occasions they had plenty samples of two different things and both times when I called to pick up more (my insurance takes forever) low and behold, they were out of samples. Always posed with the question "What do you recommend I do?" And their response was always keep calling to check if they got more in. My last straw was midway through a trial of a medication (one of the ones which they didn't have enough samples of- so round two of attempting this medicine now) I call to schedule my follow up and "We're not contracted with your insurance anymore". I say last straw because for the right medical staff I would pay the out of network fees. So if you have medical conditions or insurance that requires hoops to be jumped through, I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

Full transparency - the reason this rating is as high as it is, is because Dr. Murnane and Dr. Thompson are both incredible doctors. They genuinely listen when you tell them something is wrong or explain what is going on. I had both of my children with this practice. The front desk staff is always friendly and quick to return calls. Unfortunately, as with most medical practices - the practice can't be defined just by the doctors. When it comes to obstetrics for prenatal care and delivery, it's a fairly great experience. The gynecological and post delivery experiences are not as smooth. There has been more than one occasion where it comes across when trying to tell them something is wrong, they don't listen unless you push. Personally, my reproductive health is not something I'm willing to take a chance on with staff not listening. Overall though, the majority of the staff is very friendly, it's a clean place, and great for OB care - my drop in rating comes down to lack of the same attention or concern for detail on the gynecology side. read more

I was a little overdue for seeing my OBGYN. I'm pretty sure it's my least favorite doc to visit! I've been a patient of Dr. Murnane's for many years. On this visit I was seen by Carey Brown, a Nurse Practitioner in the office. Carey was a breath of fresh air and put me at ease almost immediately! When she entered my room, she came in smiling and introduced herself. She asked me if I had any questions or concerns. I felt like she really wanted to listen to me and she listened to what they are. Carey was very proactive and ordered some tests to be done so that my concerns would be dealt with. I had to have a complete exam and I was at ease with everything that needed to be done. I was a little concerned about some of the things to be done because of the chronic pain in my back but she was really helpful in getting me comfortable enough to complete my exam! The office was pretty quiet today and I was in and out at a very reasonable time! The staff at the front desk were pleasant and helpful I was signed in quickly and had just been given my paperwork when I was taken to my room. Overall, I survived my least favorite appointment of the year and felt good about the direction we are heading for my health! read more

I would have never guessed that I would be writing a review like this, but here I am. I am completely APPALLED at how this office (specifically Dr. Thompson DO and Annie Wilke Practice Manager) treated my wife. At 19 weeks pregnant out of the blue we received a letter notifying us that my wife was being dropped from care and here appointments that had been scheduled (July -November) had been cancelled. All the letter said was that "...There are times when this relationship is no longer effective." No actual explanation as to why this was happening. The outrage truly settled in when Annie told us that she would not recommend another OB office that could help my wife with her progesterone therapy (Dr. Thompson is one of very few that does this). To make matters worse Annie (who has never seen, met, or talked to my wife) assumed and insinuated that my wife was overbearing, manipulative, and very difficult to work with. When questioned about this Annie was unable to give ANY solid evidence. Rather, she twisted information from my wife's patient portal to make her out to be the bad guy. Mind you, my wife had questions along the way and has seen multiple different providers to fit into THEIR schedule easier to eventually get time to actually SEE Dr. Thompson in person. When you have a practice with multiple providers a patient may receive different answers. So, is it just to penalize my wife for asking for clarity when conflicting information was given? Is asking a question of your doctor a bad thing now? Is wanting ALL the information to make the best decision something a patient is not entitled to? No, yet all of which were some how used against my wife to kick her out of this practice half way through her pregnancy. Not ONE! Not one concern from any staff member or Dr. Thompson (who my wife never talked to in person!) about their feelings towards my wife. Rather than bringing any concerns to her or is, they just proceeded to basically tell us "good luck, but you're not welcome here anymore." Now, after 2 miscarriages in 12 months, we are left to wonder what the fate of this pregnancy will be because this office decided they were done with us. My suggestion to anyone looking to join this practice, see the Nurse Midwives or Dr. Murnane. They were nothing short of wonderful and did EVERYTHING in their power to make my wife feel comfortable and help her through the beginning of her pregnancy read more

How many people say they love their OBGYN? Well, apparently I do. I have to admit I was formerly the girl who avoided any kind of doctor like the plague, but when I got pregnant last fall I knew I had to put my fears aside and get used to regular doctor visits for the foreseeable future. My sister referred me to Westar who she had used for her pregnancy. She assured me that every doctor was super nice and that it was a great OB office. She was right! From my first visit at 8 weeks, to my last visit at 6 weeks postpartum, my entire experience was exceptional. Over the course of my 10 months going there I saw every doctor at least once, and both nurse practitioners. Every doctor was nice, respectful, and professional. I really did like them all. My favorite doctor that I saw through the bulk of my pregnancy was Dr. Alicia Thompson. Seeing her was like seeing an old friend. She's incredibly funny and down to earth, while also being full of knowledge. She gives you answers to questions you didn't even know you had. I absolutely loved seeing her and she gave me reassurance at every visit. The doctor I saw for the last month of my pregnancy and who ended up delivering my baby was Dr. Justin Himler. He's honestly a saint! He delivered my sister's baby in 2017 so I got to witness his calm demeanor first hand during her delivery, not knowing that he'd be delivering my baby as well. He was so encouraging in my last month, reassuring me that even though I didn't feel I was progressing, that my baby could come at any time. He also patiently answered all my questions (is baby moving too much? What about all these hiccups??), and respected my (unmedicated) birth plan. When my baby didn't come by her due date, he scheduled my induction as far out as safely possible in hopes that baby would come on her own (which she did!). He was so respectful of my wants, and so encouraging during my pregnancy and delivery. I know it sounds crazy, but now that I'm no longer pregnant, I actually miss going here for my appointments, lol. I really had a great experience here and I would absolutely recommend Westar. And I know I will most definitely be using them for my future pregnancies! read more

I was referred to Westar OBGYN by a friend, specifically to Dr. Rouse. She has the bedside manner of a saint. Any time we talk she has this ability to make you feel like you are her only patient that day and even when you're your most scared, her calm demeanor lets you know everything's going to be ok. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is the front desk is commonly not very friendly. read more

Dr. Murnane is my OB and hopefully will be delivering my daughter. This staff is amazing. I have been going here for awhile as I was referred here by my physician, which she is in the same building on a different floor. The staff is so good..I say this because I suffered two pregnancy losses before my husband and I successfully conceived and the compassion they had went unmatched. They did not just treat me like a number or tell me that it was normal and to just try again. They really took the time to show support and compassion and counseled me in a way. Now I'm happy to say we are expecting a healthy baby girl and I can't wait to continue this experience with this amazing staff. read more

I was a patient at the Westerville location for nearly a year, and with the exception of my first visit (which was just for an annual check up), this office consistently provided some of the worst OBGYN care I've ever received. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the nurses, to the physicians provided a negative experience. My first prenatal appointment at 9 weeks pregnant, which had been scheduled for 5 weeks, was unexplainably cancelled when I arrived at the office, even though the day prior, I'd confirmed via text and email. I ended up having to wait more than TWO HOURS to be seen by a new physician who was "able to squeeze me in." I never received an explanation for the cancelled appointment, much less an apology. During this initial appointment with Dr. Rouse, she actually used the word "retarded" to refer to a procedure that my husband inquired about. Talk about unprofessional and off-putting. Each consecutive appointment during my pregnancy was more of the same - no one was EVER on time and I never waited less than 30 minutes to be seen by a doctor. The last straw was being spoken to in an incredibly condescending manner by Dr. Murnane on two separate visits, so I opted to find a new provider at 28-weeks pregnant and couldn't be happier with my decision to leave Westar. Completely unprofessional staff, nurses, and doctors. With all of the quality healthcare provider options in Columbus, there's no reason anyone should feel like they have to tolerate the poor level of service that this office provides. read more

I've been seeing doctor Karey for 7 months now and LOVE her, she's always putting my mind at ease and reassuring me. I'm a FTM and I'm and call about almost everything, the on call always calls me back in under 20 minutes ! All the girls from the front desk to the nurses are so kind and make me feel right at home. I've never once felt like I've been a bother with my questions or out of place. I would recommended this place to Everybody and am going to miss them all once baby's here. I haven't been to this office in 4 years due to being unhappy with the way they handled my visits and billing. I went to get my mail today and found a collections letter for a $69 bill from March of 2015. 4 YEARS LATER. The only contact I have had from them these past 4 years are CONSTANT reminders to schedule an appt. When I called to tell the front desk I wasn't aware of any past due balance, as I never received notices, I was essentially talking to a brick wall. I could tell the woman had no idea how to handle my issue. I ended up having to dispute it through the collections agency. Avoid the headache. read more

I was experiencing a possible miscarriage. I called the office to get in for an ultrasound. (I am not a new patient.) Taylor at the front desk told me that since I didn't have an appointment, they wouldn't be able to see me for a few weeks. I explained that I was bleeding and pregnant. She didn't care and told me to go to an emergency room. I explained that I was a current patient. I drove to the office, created a scene and was able to get an ultrasound. The women at the front desk of this office are appalling and do not care about patients. I will be switching doctors. read more

I'm not sure I'll say that Dr. Rouse saved my wife's life, but it's possible. She had an ectopic pregnancy over a year ago, and it was very scary. We didn't know we were pregnant, so that was surprise number one. After knowing what the situation was, Dr. Rouse, about thirty minutes after meeting us, cleared her late afternoon schedule to perform a near-emergency procedure. There is no way that I can explain what it's like to go through something like that to someone who hasn't gone through it. But I can tell you that we're not even going to entertain the idea of seeing anyone else but her while we live here in Columbus. Dr. Rouse is a 11, on a scale of 1 to 2. We think she's pretty great. We're pregnant with child number 2 now, about two weeks from delivery, and she has been great to work with the entire time. read more

I loved this office, all the nurses up front were great. Then nurse that took me back was so kind and unlike my past experiences with other doc offices. Dr Rouse took her time with me she really made me feel comfortable, i did not feel like she was rushing me like other doctors... I have seen Dr Rouse for the last 4 years and never will go elsewhere. She is incredible! She makes me feel so comfortable and that's a hard thing to Do at an OBGyn office! I have never felt rushed. Even on a day she was very behind from being called out for a delivery, she still was patient and listened and very thorough. She was amazing through the pregnancy and birth of my 2nd child. This office is horrible. I have been talked down to by the nurses. The office staff asked me if I was "even" a patient there after I had checked in and was minding my own business in the waiting room. The nurse practitioner Katherine Elliott refuses to be cooperative or accommodating. If you ever need a basic prescription called in she will refuse even if it means you have not been properly treated for your ailment. They do not care about your health, or getting to the bottom of your health condition- only care to get that office visit billed out. I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy. No one deserves to be treated so poorly. read more

I saw the same doctor for 20 years but when he had to quit suddenly his office referred me here. I was weary after seeing the same obgyn for 20 years and having to see someone new but they have been great here. The front staff is very nice and has been extremely helpful especially if they don't know the answer to my questions, they will actually take the time to find the answer. They always call me back promptly when I have a medical question. And Dr. Overdorff made me feel completely comfortable and he has excellent bedside manor. My mom passed away and when I mentioned that she had breast cancer, he actually took the time to offer condolences and actually seemed genuinely concerned and sympathetic. He sat and talked with me about it. He also really takes the time to explain things, whereas some doctors will get you in and out you feel like just another number, not here! Going to a new doctor can be no fun and kinda daunting so I'm glad to have found a place that made the transition easy:) read more

I was a first time patient and showed up 15min early. It took me an hour past my appointment time to see the doctor. When I was on the examination table the Doctor took a personal phone call regarding his car. Then when I went to pick my prescription up at the pharmacy he had upped my dose with out letting me know. This appointment made me feel so uncomfortable and disrespected. I will never return to Dr. Murnane. read more
