C & S Truck Sales - Lots of hood clearance with correct install.

UPDATE C&S attempted…read moreto mount a Herd Aero Bumper/Grille Guard on my Peterbilt 579. ($5,701.37 ). Out of the first three pieces of the bumper kit, C&S installed both side mounting brackets incorrectly--each was mounted on the wrong side, upside down. On each bracket, they could only fit three of the four required bolts, yet still called the job complete. The installation manual clearly illustrates how the parts should be mounted correctly. Because of this poor workmanship, the bumper was mounted so badly that my hood wouldn't even open fully. When I called Charlie, the boss, he repeatedly told me to drive back so he could fix it. I asked him to at least share in my expense of giving his shop a second chance. His response was: "you sound like a real asshole." I had no choice but to disassemble and reassemble the bumper myself following Herd's instructions. I'll update again if Charlie decides to refund the $240 installation fee I paid. I've already notified Herd's operations and sales leaders about the situation, and they are aware. I think instead of insulting me, Charlie should have paid more attention to managing his shop. Advice from my personal $5700+ experience: scroll past C&S Truck Sales. Stephen Porter I paid $5,701.37 for a Herd Aero bumper grill, professionally installed on my Peterbilt 579. The work was completed, I paid in full, and drove an hour back home--only to find the hood would not open fully because the bumper had been mounted too high. When I called Charlie, the boss, he said they'd fix it if I drove the truck back. I asked if they could send someone to me or at least compensate me for the time and cost of running a semi back to Pukwana. His response was, "That ain't gonna happen". About the failed professional install, he said "hey, these things happen". When Natalia at Herd Manufacturing followed up on my behalf to speak with C&S, she was told that the person who had taken the order wasn't working there anymore, so there was nothing C&S Truck Sales could do. The shop guy mounts it wrong, and C&S blames the guy that took the order. What makes this worse is that while I was waiting for my install, I heard Charlie tell an employee that one of his guys in the shop wasn't doing good enough work, and that he might need to start doing quality control on him. Sure enough, that's exactly what I got: poor work. Herd's operations and sales leader, Leo Nelson, told me it would be fair for C&S Truck Sales to compensate me for the extra time and expense to return with the truck, since they had already been paid to professionally install. When I brought that back to Charlie, his response was: "You sound like a real asshole." For a $5,700+ job, I expected professional work and professional treatment. Instead, I got a bad install, zero accountability, and open disrespect from the boss.

My husband and I were traveling across country pulling our travel trailer from Illinois with…read moreCalifornia to be our final destination. We had a little mishap with our camper rubbing a curb stop at a gas station. We thought the damage was merely cosmetic. However, a few hours down the road, we had a tire blowout. We called roadside assistance, got the tired exchanged, new tire put on, and back on the road again to our first stop in Sioux Falls, SD. Next morning, we get on the road again, only to blowout the same tire!! At this point, we realized something more was wrong. Luckily for us, we were only a mile east from the exit for a very small town in SD called Kimball. While we were waiting for roadside assistance to arrive, a nice gentleman driving a van that advertised Overweg Repair stopped to see if we needed any assistance. We assured him we had assistance on the way, but thanked him for stopping to check on us. His shirt said his name was Dan. We later discovered he was the owner of Overweg Repair. When we realized that our front axle was most likely bent, we knew our journey could not continue until it was repaired. We limped into a little parking lot-like campground in Kimball called Parkway Campground, and gave Overweg Repair a call. Troy from there came to where we were, took a look at the camper and confirmed we needed a new axle. He went back to shop to see if he had what he needed to replace it. He called within an hour to see if we could come at 8am the next morning to get the work done. We were ecstatic! They did the repairs and had us back on the road before noon!! We couldn't believe it. We were so worried it would take days having to wait for parts to arrive. And the cost was extremely reasonable. Thanks to the team at Overweg, we were able to get back on the road quickly and continue our cross country journey vacation. We are so grateful. We would like to thank Troy, Corinne, and Tanya for all their assistance. They were awesome!

They were able to get us in and out quick after some of the tread came off one of our trailer tires.read more
