    Kids/children library play area

Great kids area!!! Excellent choice for a rainy day. Plenty of toys and appealing areas to read together.

FINALLY checking out another library branch that I hadn't been to yet! #LibraryLove4Life

THIS LIBRARY HAS A SPOT COFFEE IN IT!! :-O :-O :-O The West Seneca Public Library is a part of the West Seneca Community Center complex. This appears to be a very new building, as all aspects of the complex and the library itself are fresh and shiny. The library space is a nice size, with all of the components you'd expect: fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, CDs/DVDs, a children/youth space, public computer terminals, self-service search and check-out stations, and a manned reference desk with friendly librarians ready to help. One very unique feature of the West Seneca Public Library is just down the hallway is a Spot Coffee! Technically it isn't in the library, but it is just on the other side of the corridor from the internal library entrance. The Spot seems to be configured to welcome library patrons looking for space to work/study and sip/eat, as there are several large tables, which had patrons spread out with books and laptops when we were there. We definitely want to take advantage of this workspace/cafe combo sometime soon too. Our first visit to the West Seneca Public Library was a success. I came for a particular book that was only available at this branch, and found it with ease. The rest of the fam' found a few new brain-food-goodies, too. And we were unaware that a Spot Coffee was inside of this library complex, but now we know! Looking forward to coming back to enjoy all the great amenities here sometime soon.

This is on the door to the building.

This is a really great library. I love what they've done with the place since they've reopened. It seems so modern and cool. I needed a new card and the employee who helped me was really kind. I didn't have to wait long to be helped. I had an overdue library book that was quite overdue. I didn't realize that they reopened on June 29. I ended up having a lost book fee and not only did the employee waive that, she waived any overdue fees too. It really made my day. She said because the pandemic has been terrible for people, if you only owe one book, they've been waiving that fee. I owed $1.00 to get a new library card. I gave her a $5.00 bill and I asked her to keep the change as a donation to the library. I'll return soon to peruse the shelves, when I'm in need of a good book.

Family friendly and has a lot of things for children as well as adults to do. It isn't the most high tech library but it gets the job done!

They also had a book sale going on where some of the books were 4/$1! The library has big shelves of fiction and non-fiction, and lower shelves for the kids. They have a big collection of local history as well as travel books and graphic novels. I like that the non-fiction sections are labeled on the top of the shelves by category. There are nice displays throughout the library. The library seemed very busy while we were there, but perhaps the book sale drew people in. There are a bunch of PCs and lots of places to sit, including comfy chairs, couches, and tables. They're spread out throughout the library so you can sit tucked away if you'd like to. Big parking lot and places to walk nearby too (like the caboose behind the library or the park across the street).

Most of the book stacks wrap around the perimeter, with computers and other seating in the middle. The space is fairly snug, but hugely warm and inviting. The turquoise colored walls really add to the cheerful feel! The building is one-level accessible, and there is a good-sized parking lot along the side and around the back. I stopped in with my husband to pick up a book I wanted that was only available at Dudley for which I did not want to wait on a hold transfer, (if you're not reading the "Mickey 7" series by local author Edward Ashton, you should!). The New Books rack was clearly marked, and it was easy to find what I was looking for within a minute. We perused the library a bit longer, and it really is a well-cultivated collection for a smaller branch! Both my husband and I commented on how the sci-fi section was better stocked with quality classic and newer selections than some of the bigger branches we frequent. After I checked out my materials, we sat down for a minute to get organized and realized we were in two comfy wing-back chairs at a chess table. We were in no rush, so we played a game in the splendid space. (My husband used to be a ranked chess player, so he was eventually victorious, but I didn't fold too fast, hahaha.) I'm glad that through happenstance I ended up at the Dudley Branch Library. As a Northtown'er, it is definitely off the beaten path and out of the way for me. But I would gladly visit again if there is something here I can't wait for to be hold-delivered, and/or if we're in the area and I want a chess rematch with the hubbs. ;-)

This library has been one of my three main ones to frequent in our area. On a more recent visit, picking up classic movies..both MA MA Mias...I found my self checking out their bulletin board on upcoming events. This is what brings me to my review....events and things to do were a variety for kids and adults. This particular library has adult color kits, and had a sign posted for paint night. Glad to have signed up...Kim our intrustor was helpful and patient for any of us with questions. There were a total of 13, with the instructor. The event was a creative, simple and each of us had different interpretations of the original painting. A bonus for all of us, Kim is an elementary art teacher. Great, stress-free relaxing evening...guess one never knows what they will find at your local library. Thanks Kim and Lancaster Library for hosting the event.

My quest to explore various Erie Country library branches had us landing in Lancaster last week…read more WOW, what a beautiful branch! It's an expansive, open main space with a dome-shaped vaulted ceiling adorned with big glowing orbs of bright light. A bit poetic of a description maybe, but this space really feels poetic. Even if you don't need anything from the library, it would be worth a visit. There is a massive copper fireplace, such a darling place to relax or study, just a lovely aesthetic in general here. If you are coming for particular resources, there's a good chance that the Lancaster location has what you need. There are many cubicle-style computer workstations in the middle of the room. In the front adjacent to a big wall of windows is the children's area. My son had fun with the legos and other blocks, as well as found a cozy spot to do his homework. There are several rows of DVDs and CDs along the middle-side wall, with the opposite wall housing stacks and stacks of books in all the genres you'd expect. Magazines are in the back near the fireplace. I like the "new" displays at this library, and actually came across a new book I forgot I wanted to read (the newer Demi Moore tell-all biography, winning!), plus there were newly released DVD and CD racks too. Perusing the rows and rows of materials to find something that catches your eye can be intimidating in any library, so I appreciate when librarians take time to showcase new offerings that may spark interest. Parking for this library is in the rear off of a side road, and there is plenty of it. When you enter the back door, it is a flight of stairs or an elevator ride to get up a level to the main space. The main space has some vending options if you want a beverage or snack. And there appears to be lots of community programming happening her too, with racks of flyers and many bulletin boards of happenings for people of all ages and varying interests. Checkout the library website for specifics. I really enjoyed hanging out here for a couple hours with my husband and son. My son did his homework, played with toys, he and his dad played checkers for a while, we all relaxed and read a bit, and found some things to bring home. What more could you ask, the Lancaster library is a very pleasant, solid branch. Come and enjoy!
