The issue itself was simple: a basic question about a billing code that was submitted to my insurance. At no point before the appointment was it clearly disclosed that the visit would be billed as a full examination, which ultimately left me responsible for a balance that could have easily been clarified beforehand. Any competent dental office should be able to explain what services are being billed, what insurance is expected to cover, and what the patient may be responsible for. This is not an advanced administrative task -- it is basic patient communication. What made the situation significantly worse was the near-total lack of responsiveness from the office staff. For nearly three weeks, I attempted to reach someone who could explain the charge. Multiple calls during normal business hours went unanswered, and messages were left without any return call. For a medical office, this level of inaccessibility is unacceptable. Eventually, I was able to speak with the office manager. During that conversation, we discussed contacting my insurance company to clarify the billing code. After hanging up, I called my insurer and received a clear answer about the code in about 20 minutes. When I called the office back to relay the information, I was told the manager had suddenly gone on vacation -- in the middle of a weekday -- and once again no one followed up. At that point, the pattern was obvious: poor communication, poor accountability, and an administrative staff that appears either unwilling or unable to handle basic patient inquiries. Ironically, the most concerning takeaway is not the billing issue itself, but what it suggests about how the office is run. Administrative competence is a reflection of leadership. If the doctor allows this level of disorganization and inaccessibility in the front office, it raises serious concerns about the overall standards of the practice. In the end, I am actually relieved that I did not proceed with treatment there. If something as simple as a billing question requires weeks of effort and still yields no meaningful response, I would hate to see how more serious matters are handled. Patients deserve transparency, responsiveness, and professionalism -- none of which were demonstrated here.

Instructions are clear. Dr. Nygaard is brilliant, cutting edge in approach and very skilled. I am doing my part via rigorous compliance, and I am justifiably optimistic about my case. Thank you! I give this practice my highest recommendation.

I was recommended by my dentist, Dr. Wilson of Sodorff & Wilson, for my gum grafting. From the moment I interacted with the receptionist and all through my initial appointment, it was very apparent to me that everyone here is both personable and opinionated. That can make one feel both uncomfortable as well as more connected and aware. So it's a good and a bad thing depending on how you look at it. If you like the customer service facade of many medical practices then this may not enjoy your experience here. Dr. Nygaard and her assistant are both very experienced and very opinionated women and they don't hold back on bringing up their critique on your health, even in areas you didn't come in to talk about. I will disclaim that while this may have been a bit more stimulating emotionally then I bargained for, it ultimately is not something I dislike; I appreciate that the medical world is in flux and filled with new research and approaches, so I find it refreshing and valuable to have real discussions with my doctors. I want to talk to my regular dentist about some of the things Dr. Nygaard recommended as far as my dental hygiene (she told me to try switching to a different toothbrush, changing my brushing technique) because I was given some ideas I have never heard before. Anyway, I think there is a wholistic health approach here, for sure. And it makes you feel like Dr. Nygaard is very very passionate about what she does and she is really thinking about you as an individual. That being said, I can see why some people have a negative experience. Most important, Dr. Nygaard is amazing at what she does. My gum graft looks so good. I was really nervous about the cosmetic aspect of it and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend coming here. I do agree that the receptionist shouldn't be bringing up irrelevant personal topics with patients and that this office should definitely address that, but it just isn't a significant enough factor for me. I fully trust Dr. Nygaard's surgical abilities.
