Why am I writing a review for a major chain store that everyone knows about? BECAUSE THE NEW…read moreLAYOUT IS RUDDY BRILLIANT!!!! Instead of collecting the clothes by type, the clothes are in cubes categorised by look, so theoretically, you could pick an entire outfit from pretty much anything in one cube. It's a neat idea, which works better for some things more than others. Namely, for men, it does mean the coats are needlessly strewn throughout the entire floor with little rhyme or reason (a coat goes with pretty much any outfit afterall!). Likewise, some of the men's cubes are eerily similar, and so maybe the cube is just pretense? With a brand that has such a narrow range for guys, I guess it's too much to ask for radically different looks in each cube. The women's clothing looks far more varied though, although I can't comment on how practical it is (for obviously reasons). Anyway, would be really interesting if more stores picked up this layout, especially department stores like Selfridges and the like.

Zara is a lovely place to check out, but this one like it has progressed from the last time I…read morevisited 2 months ago but still has some changes that are needed. The ground floor was actually pretty organized this go round but it's really hard to find an employee to assist. One issue is possible because the employees look just like a regular shopper so you are unsure who to ask except the cash register individuals. The escalator going to the second floor was broken, so you will have to walk unless you can get on their elevator. On the second floor they also have self checkout and exchange and return registers. When I was asking an employee a question that was at the exchange/return counter, she was really on edge which I am unsure why. She finally just dismissed me and told me to go to another counter to check out since the self checkout machines cause so many issues. All I needed was an employee code to proceed with taking the locks off. Went up to floor three and the cash register employee that assisted me was so sweet and helpful! Normally I love Zara's for odd and end pieces but this one could work on customer service and working with finding a way to help the layout more shopper friendly.

I may be a little taller than average but not so tall I need to shop here. It was with my giant of…read morea sister that I headed here. This place really is great. My mum and sister have often visited the Long Tall Sally in York and remarked on how much bigger the Manchester branch is. The staff are unbelievably lovely and kind - even if you're a shortarse, just go try something on and parade around for a bit as they will shower you with compliments!* The clothes here are expensive by my pauper standards, but they seem good quality and there is a good mix of practical basics and stylish fashion items - I think this shop is a bit of a lifesaver for people who are just too long and tall for high street shops. The store itself is clean and well laid out. * I don't actually recommend you do this - but wouldn't it be lovely if there was somewhere you could go specifically to get compliments? One can dream...

If you are tall and a woman (or wanting to dress like a woman) then this is the place for you. 10…read moreyears ago I would not have bought anything from here - the clothes were frumpy or combined all fashion styles in one item! But things have improved dramatically over the last four or five years. The clothes have improved in quality, there is a fantastic selection of basics through to fashion items, items for the beach through to evening wear, items for the young and old. I now have regular trips to the Manchester store. It is always clean and the clothes are well presented. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The changing rooms are spacious with a bench set at an appropriate height for those of us who are blessed with 34 inch or longer legs! What more could a tall girl ask for!

A lovely addition to Manchester's fashion scene, which is often overlooked for focus on restaurants…read more/ bars, most predominantly shown by the changing face of King Street. & Other Stories is located in the old French Connection unit, taking two floors of light and airy space, showcasing their lovely clothing and accessories perfectly. They had a small opening event with local bloggers / 'VIPs' but also managed to continue the feeling of a launch through their first day, with some smartly dressed waiters handing out drinks in paper cups while people took their first look at the store. I was also greeted by the friendliest front of house / security I think I've ever met, which was a nice surprise! The items are categorised well and everything feels like it has a place, including shoes upstairs and a beauty / homeware section downstairs with some perfume and candles I can already tell will be a regular feature in any future present buying. Although they seem to specialise in light colours and fabrics, dig around a little and you'll find some beautiful metallics and items more suited to the Manchester weather! If Evelyn's is the most Instagrammable restaurant in the city, & Other Stories is the same for fashion. Excellent natural light and desirable products; hopefully they'll stick around for a while.

It is a big, open shop with lots of white space which has been utilised really well. It is a sibling of the H&M chain but has a more up market feel to it and it slightly more pricey. I wanted to buy everything but showed some restraint, I will definitely be back on pay day!
