Truly deserving of a 1 star review. The course is in very poor condition. I would give it 2-3 stars if it wasn't for the price. With kama'aina and golf ID card with cart was $54. Most fairways are dirt and mud. All good but don't charge that much money for such a junk course. Other municipal courses better and several other courses at very similar price way better than this. Also some of the staff just grumpy and unpleasant. Overall total junk course. read more

I've played here for over 25 years and I played there today. We had a foursome and check in is always friendly. It was a great start to New Years Eve; or so I thought! The fairways are the worst I've ever seen. I can't believe it has gotten this bad! And I had to pay $90 for the two of us! It was a waste of money. If I do have to play here again I'm guessing it will be lift, clean in place but within twenty feet of where the ball originally landed to find grass. If the city wants to turn a municipal golf course into a botanical garden then they should place it here. There will be a lot less work to do, saving tax payers plenty of money. I suggest you save your money and skip this golf course until it can return to its former glory many many years ago. I did not take bad pictures of the course. I wanted only the good pictures made the cut as I at least still have hope! read more

terrible course. the layout is fine. the maintenance is non-existent. tee boxes not level and a lot of weeds. fairways have a lot of dirt and dry spots. there are lines of green grass that get watered by sprinklers that no longer oscillate. bunkers have less than an inch of sand. impossible to hit behind the ball for a normal sand wedge. that's probably why no on bothers to rake. perimeter grass not trimmed and soil erosion from rain not repaired. greens are okay relative to rest of course. yay! staff is great! yay! except the starter seems to stuff as many groups as possible leading to 5-6 hour rounds. new clubhouse food vender is awesome! yay! read more

The worst golf experience I've ever had. It started off fun until people started complaining and even yelled at us for taking too long. We are beginners and this was our first time at this course. The people who play on this course have completely forgotten what its like to be a beginner I guess. Instead of helping us out, they'd just be angry at us. The worst part is when the field marshal kept following our every move and continuously told us to hurry up. Do you know how discouraging that is? We told him that we're stopping now and decided to leave. We were on our 12th hole too. At one point, we even told the people behind us to play through but they declined and told us to pick up the pace. Very discouraging. Never coming back to this course. read more

One of our favorite muni's on island. I mean we love all the muni's but west loch takes it a step further and it's a large and fun course. Find chickens and wild boar at every hole of you look hard enough. A gem. A perfect course to play with friends or by yourself. read more

This course would normally get a 4-star rating from me because of its layout, challenges, cost, maintenance and playability. Today, we're here because a former co-worker invited (challenged) us to play. We were excited because our tee time was at 8:25AM so we didn't have to wake up at "zero dark thirty" and traffic going West wouldn't be too bad. We arrived without incident then we were met with signs announcing "All 18 greens have been aerated". Oh, no! That means the putting surfaces have small holes punched everywhere and filled with sand. Ok, that's good for grass growing and future playing conditions but, NOT for when you're playing. Well, at least we agreed upon the "automatic two-putt" with the caveat that your first putt must end within 2 feet from the hole before you pick it up. If it's further than 2 feet, the player must putt again until he/she reaches the distance of 2 feet. We joked that we felt like we had to take "full swings" or hit hard. Some of the fairways had water damage as there were bare spots or mud instead of grass. But, we played on... Normally, this municipal course is among one of my favorites to play..it still is but, marred by aerated greens. We had fun, enjoyed great sunny weather, walked our 10,000 steps or maybe more and talked ourselves into a post-golf "feeding frenzy"! read more

West Loch is getting better and better every time I go there. As my single photo shows, the course is nearly as well maintained as the way more expensive private courses. I give West Loch 4 stars because they do not have a store or food establishment and that damn 2nd hole still has that mound of dirt on the right side that is a magnet for my ball. However, on the day we went the greens were in very good shape, not slow, not too fast, but jus rite for a $h!tt¥ putter like bozu. One of the worst maintained City courses on Oahu. Save your money and play somewhere else. The tee boxes are dead like hitting off dirt, the fairways are very dry and dead in most spots. The only plus is the greens are in pretty good condition if you like really slow greens. The ground is hard like concrete. For $38 you should spend your money else where. Course has really gone down hill and the funny part is you never see anyone working. read more

This was my first time playing a full course. I am a beginner golfer and at the start of the course it was really fun. The guy in the office was really nice but when we got to the 4th hole the Marshall came up to my group and said we were playing too slow and then started following us at every single hole. I'm not good at all, I admit that but after the 5th hole I didn't play at all because I felt too much pressure. He followed us and kept harassing us about moving quicker. We even told the guy behind us to go ahead because we are beginners and he said it's okay he's taking his time practicing and that we should take our time practicing as well. At any rate, this was the worse first experience ever and I felt discouraged about playing golf ever again. This was on August 12, 2023 2:00pm-4:00pm whoever the Marshall was during that moment, you killed my chances of ever playing again. Clubs for sale, Facebook marketplace. DM if interested. read more

Not the best course in terms of its design and it can't be confusing moving from one tee to the next amd it's maintenance, but it's definitely one the most affordable course to play if you are Kamaaina/local resident. This is a City and County course, and so you have to have that C&C golf ID to get that discounted rate. read more

Playing a course you've never been to is quite difficult. This one is really very nice, which is why I give 3 stars instead of the 2 that I'd like to give. Location is easy enough to get to, H1/Ewa Beach/Fort Weaver/West Loch Estates. Views from the course are great, lots of green and diverse set up with trees, ponds, etc. Some of the greens were patchy, but still much nicer than other courses I've played at. Down side, probably not a big deal to others but for me it's a deal breaker. There is no pro-shop or snack shop. Just 1 drink vending machine upstairs in the clubhouse. Signs on the course say 'snack shop' by the 10th hole but there is just a shack with NOTHING inside. Speaking of signs, some of those beautiful stone signs have graffiti which makes it difficult to read where the holes are, minor issue that can be a little frustrating for some. Another big issue for me, it took us 6 hours to play a full 18 holes. Sure golf is not something that takes only an hour but 6 hours! Really?! 3 groups backed up at each hole from practically hole 2. Not sure if it was because of the group of 6 just playing extremely bad or the course set up. It's a huge course, you really spend a lot of time navigating between each hole but even with that, it didn't make much sense. I am a novice, so take my complaints lightly. It really is a beautiful course, I would go back maybe earlier in the day to make sure I'm out before dinner and also remember to bring a cooler with drinks and snacks. read more

Played 18 holes Saturday at 810am. No RSVP only waited 5 min. $35 with cart. The grounds can be dry and dirt patches in places. Lost balls at 18th and the smell of rotting fish in the dried up lake was distracting. For some reason we lose the most balls on this course than any other. Not sure why, not because it's hard. Maybe more wild bushes. Even one got stuck in the top of the keawe tree. read more

One of the better Municipal Courses to play. Depending on the crowd you can finish all eighteen holes in about 3 hours. The greens improved a lot so shout out to the workers upkeeps! Always a "go to" course for a quick inexpensive round. read more

West Loch is not bad at all for a municipal course. There aren't a lot of big dirt patches in the middle of the fairways like in many other munies. The greens and tee boxes are in pretty good repair, and rest of the facilities are alright. But the best thing about this course, as with the other municipal courses on Oahu is the price! If you don't want to walk you'll have to pay a bit extra for a cart. The course itself is pretty fun with a lot of doglegs, and elevation changes all over the course. There's also quite a few water hazards like reservoirs and ditches. Some people don't like these features of golf courses, but I enjoy the variety of course features. I haven't had the chance to try out the snack bar because of their hours of operation aren't that great. There is also a driving range next to the first hole. The cool thing about this range is that you're hitting your range balls into water instead of land. read more

Played at West Loch today. Decided to walk to get some exercise and ended up walking around 6-7 miles. Not the ideal course for walking since some of the holes are far apart and a little confusing sometimes where to walk to the next hole if you've never played there before. Fairways were in decent condition and greens were ok although some were in subpar condition. Pace was a little slow but to be expected for a municipal course. Round took close to 5 hours to finish. All in all it was a good day of golf. read more

Aloha, Well it's been 15 years since I've last played this course and I'll have to say I was pleasantly surprised bye the conditions. So let's review the course. Tee'd off early Monday morning at 7:15am, not very busy at all. First of all there are zero amenities on this course outside of water on the course, no pro shop, no restaurant, no bar, nothing just a small corner office in a big building where you pay your green fees. Place looks like a deserted building. Don't get me wrong the view from the clubhouse is very nice and what could be, IF someone would open it up. Oh well. I walked so I can't speak on the carts, they looked nice. Decent putting green and driving range looks like it's closed(you used it hit floaty balls into water, back in the day..dumb). The course is green, few dead..muddy areas...its a muni no a resort. Fairway are good condition, when I did find myself in the fairways, I always had a good lie. Here's where is shines. The bunkers have sand !!!!!! and it's playable sand, best sand I've played out recently, Amazing. Even better are the greens, WOW. They are in great condition. At least half of the greens where just as nice as ewa beach golf club(which I consider some of the best on the island). They where hard to read at first, a lot variance to the greens(lots of breaks). The course in general is not long, a lot of variant to the holes, doglegs, water, uphill, downhill, etc...etc... For $22 this can't be beat. Best muni atm on Oahu. Well done guys. read more

I enjoy playing here with the boys when we get a chance to come out and get our hacks in. The repairs on the 2nd and 3rd holes are completed. The fairways and greens are in decent enough shape for a muni golf course. The starters are cool and the place is very mellow. I played this course this morning about 10 AM with a friend who doesn't golf much. We got a cart so that his inexperience wouldn't be an issue for speed of play. Played the first hole without a problem, then went on to the second hole and though we had to wait a bit, it was a typical round so far. Then, we got to the third hole and the wheels pretty much came off. There were not one, but two groups waiting to tee off in front of us and from then on our entire round was a grind. I pointed out a few times to the group behind us that we were trying to play quickly but we were limited by the play in front of us, despite my friend being an admittedly terrible golfer. Our next 4 holes took probably 1 1/2 hours until we got to 7, a short par three. I admit, I'd been coaching my friend on most holes. I am experienced enough to know that this is poor golf etiquette in most situations, but when we were literally catching the group in front of us WAITING at the next tee on every hole (they hadn't even hit their drives yet) I don't see any issue with some extra discussion of swing mechanics. So my friend hit a dinker on the par 3 7th hole and I hit a shot just short of the green, I stopped the cart to let him hit and I was talking to him about playing the ball up in his stance when the guys behind us literally started yelling at us from the tee to hit the ball and berating us that we couldn't do what we were doing. Meanwhile, all of us can see that the group ahead of us is still waiting to even get on the tee at 8, there's nowhere for anyone to go really. I guess these guys were upset with the rate of play too and decided that it was okay to take it out on my friend and me. So, I yelled back that there was nowhere else for us to go and they threatened to call the ranger, to which I said, please do. This may be a good point to mention that, in the two rounds of golf I have played at West Loch, I've only seen the ranger on the course once. The staff at this, and most municipal golf courses, seems to consist of a starter and one other staff member so almost no one is mediating the rate of play. We finished our hole 7, hit our tee shots for 8, right on the heels of the group in front of us of course, and drove to our drives. The group behind us hit in to us. The ranger finally showed up (took him maybe 15 minutes to get to us?) and offered up the fact that it was backed up all the way to 18, I said NO KIDDING?? And explained to him that the foursome behind my friend and I were harassing us. I said that I know that normally we don't teach on the golf course and normally I wouldn't, except that it was a good 10-15 minutes between nearly every shot. I asked the ranger if, because I was unbelievably frustrated and unhappy with this round of golf, if I could simply get a refund for the back nine and be on my way. He radioed the starter and said that they only give refunds in the case of the course shutting down, i.e. rainchecks. He said also that I could go and talk to the starter about the refund issue myself. So, extremely frustrated and wholly not enjoying my round of golf, my friend and I finished eight and nine. We saw that at the tenth tee, once again, two groups were waiting to tee off. That was the last straw for me. I knew that the group behind us would catch up with us and I had zero faith in the ranger's proclamation that they wouldn't bother us anymore. We drove to the clubhouse, hoping to reason with the starter and get a refund for just the back nine. Surprise, surprise, we didn't get one. The starter was a nobody, couldn't even look me in the face to mumble his responses about how rules were rules. The superintendent came out of his office and floated the same lines that his hands were tied by the rules that he had to uphold. Not much power in being the superintendent of a golf course I guess. I was clear to me that neither of these men gave even a shred of a fuck about customer service or maintaining a decent experience for golfers. They wouldn't have let an absurd amount of people out on their course back to back to back. They wouldn't have allowed fivesomes out and not even mentioned as a warning to the subsequent golfers that play was egregiously slow. I understand that not every round of golf is going to be quick, but our front nine took 2 and a half hours, and we played two of the holes relatively quickly. Clearly, the only thing that these people cared about was grabbing as much cash as they could and letting everything else fall where it may. So, here's the bottom line, you probably won't have a terrible, terrible experience like I did, I've played quite a few rounds in my life and this was easily top 3 worst. The golf course is in decent shape, it's fairly challenging for a novice or intermediate with some long holes and some elevation change. But if you're expecting anyone to care about your golfing experience should anything be amiss, you are absolutely 100% out of your mind. read more

The employees on this course are the worst by far on the Island of Oahu. I actually didn't mind the course conditions, decent greens, and long fairways. The grass was also adequately kept with few bare patches on most fairways. No snack bar... What??? No pro shop of any kind... What??? It took us over 6 hours to finish a round of golf, well over! The course Marshall is a child afraid to speak to golfers about their giant groups upsetting the golfers. We had 4 groups of 4 backed up at every hole. I recommend spending 20 bucks more and hitting up Ewa Beach Golf Club. They really take good care of you on that course! read more

We played the course yesterday and had lots of fun. It's challenging enough for anyone looking for low cost rates. The course is in good shape and the groundskeepers work hard to keep it that way. My buddies and I grew up on public school playgrounds so this reminds us of our childhood roots. This course should definitely be supported by locals that live in the area. Everyone within a 15 mile has a dozen courses to choose from and West Loch is a good place with your golf buddies. read more

We recently came to this municipal course just to practice a golf game that my in-laws were coming down for. I have been here a couple times and nothing to complain about. Heck, it is a public course and it is way cheaper than going to a private one. The greens of course have some patches here and there but overall pretty decent. We had a gas golf cart which was really loud but nice on power. I actually had a pretty good 9-hole game that day and I was even able to beat my husband. The marshall and cashier were both friendly. I really don't mind playing here again especially with the nice price. read more

West Loch has become my home course, even though I live 30 minutes away. Love the layout, kama'aina muni rate is $22 walking. They have been maintaining it better or as well as the other muni courses. Easy to walk on at around 8:30 or 9am. Lots of nice people if you get paired up with strangers. read more

There is no way to check in advance on tee times it's an automative system. You have to be here half an hour early, but if you arrive anywhere close to your tee time, you will be turned away. Though today a group of 6 had their tee time at 8am, my tee time was at 742am and somehow we are starting after them. I'm not even golfing only observing. Stay away if you have lay face pace or even medium pace speeds. read more
