Dr. Laura Puckett was very nice, but that office as a whole is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at any medical facility. I was contacted by the office earlier this week and was told I was being sent orders for some tests. I was never sent the orders although they confirmed they'd email them. A few days later, I tried calling their office. Their phone system has a setup to pick different departments. Not a single department answers their phone regardless of how many times I've called and regardless of what department I try. They pick up, throw you on hold, then hang up on you. Worst customer service ever. I will be requesting my records and changing practices immediately. I had the worst experience with this practice. I returned as a patient after a few years living out of the state. I was hesitant because my amazing doctor (Dr. Marotta) was no longer at that office. This office in particular has the most rude staff and besides the midwife, the doctors have the worse bedside manners possible. Dr. Perfetto scolded me for getting pregnant 9 month postpartum because I had a C-section. I had a history of pregnancy lost (4 in total before having a successful pregnancy) so I had talked to my OB in California and we had agreed to wait at least 6 months and I waited 9 months to get pregnant again. The interaction with Dr. Perfetto made decide to move back to California to have my second child. I really don't recommend this practice to anyone. The ladies on the front just took the form and told me that they would call me. They sat there chatting for an hour. I told her that I had given it to them an hour ago. To what she said oh let me see. She asked me to sit again and told me that I would be seeing soon. Forward to today 3 weeks later. I had my appointment at 9:30 got there at 9:14 and guess what I sat there for an hour. I went up to them because they don't have the courtesy to tell you anything. I am a mother of an 18 year old that was seen by Claudia Cabanas which will no longer be her provider as she was belittled and treated as if she didnt know what she was doing instead of educating her in an appropriate matter. Id also like to point out that medical providers are NOT trained in hormones and as a mattter of a fact know VERY little. I have been a patient of Dr. Somoano for many years and began going to West Kendall OBGYN when he merged with them a few years back. I had a great experience in 2018 with my pregnancy and honestly had no complaints but this year there seem to be many changes in the office that are in no way positive. I am now pregnant with my second and my experience has been HORRIBLE. I can truly say I haven't even enjoyed this pregnancy in part due to them. For starters, every single time you call you will be placed on hold for no less than 10 minutes but most of the time 20 or more. I'm not sure how they're running the office, but I haven't called a single time that they answer ready to assist without a long hold. Secondly, obtaining results from them is TORTURE. It seems they hold results and do not release them for no known reason. No one calls you and when you call they tell you to call back in x amount of days, etc. Lastly, 3 of their greatest doctors are leaving at the same time which I find hard to believe is pure coincidence. The office is nothing like it was two years ago and unfortunately it is too late for me to transfer out now because no other office wants to take me on midway through a pregnancy but if you can save yourself the headache and anguish, please do! read more

The hospital they practice needs to something about them. Worst place ever. If you have to go to them because you are expecting don't. My wife has had HG due to pregnancy and is also a high-risk patient. She's called several times to ask for advice when she felt symptoms and they never ordered anything to check her out. My wife had to change doctors and thank God we found a new one and they ordered standard tests. We found out that my wife is anemic and had low potassium she was also two points away from a blood transfusion and that could have caused her to lose the baby or her life. When she felt her heart racing (which is a symptom of anemia) they told her she had to relax. All of the Nursing staff there are rude and they like to undermine everything you have to say. This place is really shady!!!! I called my insurance and they said they were flagged because of that. They will tell you your insurance will cover all the services they provide and then you will receive a bill for more than $200. No information or approval ask prior services are rendered. When you call they will advise all services were rendered so bill is correct. This is the second time it happens, first time I received a bill for a service I didn't request nor needed and wasn't asked for approval but second time was even worst!!!!! They used ultrasound for no reason and I was billed $220 (my insurance covered more than 50%) for a 5 min ultrasound!!! I would get $80 ultrasounds for my colon twice a month and it will take way longer than that!!!!! In addition, waiting time was more than an hour, I had appt for 2:30pm but I walk in to the exam room almost 4:00pm. read more

My first and worst experience at a gynecologist! I went in for the first time and didn't get a single explanation on anything. I was more clueless leaving than when I went in! I was gonna give one star, but I'll give 2 because both my babies are happy and healthy and because it led me to the BEST OB/Gyn doctor ever, who thankfully now has her own practice! Has anyone collected stats at this place for how many c-sections they perform? It has got to be one of the highest in the city. Every single person I know that delivered with this group except one ended up "needing" a c-section, including myself. In addition to a higher likelihood of c-section, there's also the issue of staff ineptitude and lack of compassion from some of the doctors. I experienced terrible hyperemesis gravidarum with both my pregnancies, and ended up hospitalized for it my first pregnancy. My OB at the time, Dr. Arronte, would not fill out the paperwork I needed to qualify for FMLA due to it. He just shrugged it off. How, exactly, was I supposed to work as an ER nurse when I was throwing up 189247972342343 times a day? Ridiculous. It's not like I had a desk job where I could puke into a bucket while working at a computer. Ugh. Things got much better when a new doctor joined the practice and I switched over to her. Someone who knew what it was like to be pregnant, and who understood the situation I was in. Call me sexist, but after this experience I swore I'd never have a male OB/Gyn ever again. The wait times are horrendous. At least an hour every single visit. If you want to feel like you're in a factory on an assembly line of pregnant bodies, then this is the place for you. Let me tell you that the staff is VERY incompetent. I feel bad for the decent work that the OBGYN does i hated every appointment I had. The staff would send "referrals" for the anatomy of my baby and would claim that they sent it but the other office would never receive anything! I couldn't get access to their "portal" because they kept sending it to the wrong email, even after I had them corrected it! There was so much back and forth that it caused me so much unnecessary STRESS during my pregnancy. Then they have to do an ultra in every visit...it wasn't until I was 7 mths pregnant that it was for no reason because I did NOT have a high risk pregnancy. They literally had me believing that it was needed so the "doctor" can see the baby's development" - with that being said, I'm convinced they only do it so they can charge more to the insurance and keep in mind if it's deemed unnecessary by the insurance chances are you have to pay out of pocket! then they start telling my that they don't take my insurance after I had checked with them BEFORE I even got the insurance - I was left with no doctor for 4 Mths bc they couldnt communicate anything properly! This office looks fancy, but its very poorly run not to mention many of the providers have cold and brusk bedside manner. The practice feels very disorganized. You have to repeat personal information multiple times to multiple staff members, and sometimes I have even heard them speaking about it loudly in the hallway, only to have to repeat myself to someone else... I have even called ahead to mitigate some of the confusion, but it did not help. Poor communication, organization and perhaps overwhelm make it a very frazzled place to be, which is unfortunate because you want to be as relaxed as possible when going to the OB/GYN's office. Wait time for appointments is atrocious. I thought maybe it was just I came on an off day, but after having to wait more than an hour for all of my visits (am and pm times) I realized it was the norm not an exception. During my time there I saw Dr. Patricia Perfetto, she was combative, had terrible communication skills and was totally emotionally stunted. We always ended up getting into some sort of confrontation because I didn't comprehend what she was telling me (confusing or conflicting instructions) she also felt insensitive, dismissive and victim-blamey. I also saw Dr. Frank Cardona who had a better demeanor, but felt really narcissistic and focused and talking about himself (his obsession with working out and Superman) rather than me- the patient. He was nice(r), but not enough to make me feel warm and fuzzy about my gynecological care. The medical aides (weight, blood pressure, etc) are completely hit or miss. Sometimes you'd get one that was really kind, but I would say the majority came off very stuck up and conceited. Snobby seemed to be a cultural norm for the practice. Another issue which wasn't a deal breaker, but still off-putting was the urine collection system. You just pee in a plastic dixie-type cup and leave it in the bathroom. For an "upscale" practice, this system seemed outdated and unsanitary. I never seen anything like it before. They need a much better system. Because of my experiences with the wait, staff and providers I have switched my OB/GYN practice. I would NOT recommend these folks unless you like waiting for hours, being treated badly and care that lacks any semblance of compassion. read more

I would give this office zero stars but the physicians that work here are great, so they get at 1 star. My mother is a patient and was diagnosed with cervical cancer. While awaiting the results of her pap smear, she received a call she needed to make an appointment to find out the results. My mother asked if the results were bad and why it couldn't be told over the phone. The staff responded "It wouldn't be good results if you had to come in." My mother had a post-op follow up for a pap smear. She called for weeks for the results of her post-op Pap smear, since she never received a call back, and was immediately put on hold every time she called. She would be on hold for extended periods of time without anyone answering the calls. She finally got through and was sent to a voicemail of a physician's assistant and has still been unable to get her results. I called multiple times to try and receive the results but had similar success with being put on hold for extended periods of time and not speaking to a staff member. I made an appointment for myself for fertility issues because I know the physicians there are great. I called to make an appointment and told them I was coming in because I couldn't get pregnant. I went to my appointment and told the MA it was because I couldn't get pregnant. Another MA came in and she told me that I was here for my yearly pap smear. When I told her that I was here because I couldn't get pregnant and didn't need/want a pap smear she responded "we don't take care of that because your insurance won't pay for that visit." She proceeded to tell me how their office couldn't bill for my complaint and they wouldn't let the doctor see me. She gave me some IVF flyers and showed me to the front door. This office may have amazing physicians but you have to get through rude, classless and abrasive office staff. Whoever runs that office has not educated their staff on how to deal with the general public or how to act with some decorum when speaking to patients about delicate topics such as cancer and infertility. I am requesting my mother's medical records, which will be an endeavor since they don't answer their phones, and taking her care to another physician. read more

I have been coming here for the last 7 months to care for my pregnancy. This DRs office has made my pregnancy such a wonderful and easy experience. Their team of physicians is beyond amazing. I would recommend their nurse practitioner (Chrino) she has been above and beyond. I feel as if I am not just a patient when I go to her - her care and appreciation makes me feel so comfortable and secure. The rest of the team has the same qualities; from the receptionist to doctors and nurses, everyone is so understanding and nice. They have a modern technological system to reach their patients as well which makes scheduling so easy. West Kendall OBGYN has found a life-long patient in me! I would rather say the truth to protect people, than stay quiet in fear of judgement. I was recently in a relationship, and my former partner ignorantly gave me herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). He is an asymptomatic carrier, meaning that he shows no symptoms. I asked Nurse Practitioner Naviuska Chirino for advice with my diagnosis. I wanted to know how to avoid giving herpes to those around me. I told her that I read from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and Mayo Clinic that the virus can spread even if a carrier shows no symptoms. She said that's not true, you can only give the virus if you show symptoms, and "What are you going to believe? Something you read online, or me and my years of practice?" It hurt me greatly when she said this. I said "How could you say this? I read this from CDC, WHO and Mayo Clinic, which are valid resources. My partner showed no symptoms, and he gave it to me. I am an example." She didn't listen to me, which made me feel hopeless. I am sharing this so that people can become more knowledgeable of herpes, protect themselves and those around them, and be aware of Chirino's behavior. This one is long, so grab your popcorn. I cannot say enough terrible things about this practice. I was expecting my first baby and upon scheduling my first appointment, I had the highest hopes that Baptist would live up to its name. If I were to sit here and write about all of my experiences with this office, I could write a book. To sum it all up, the receptionists are extremely UNPROFESSIONAL and lack the most common form of education. They answer the phones mid-conversation with other staff while giggling - that's if they even answer the phones. Doctors rush through appointments and treat you like you're just another number. You know, some of us women are first-time moms and these doctors don't even have the mental capability of guiding you through the OBGYN process. No suggesting hospital tours, how to find a pediatrician for your child, NOTHING. One specific appointment, I waited one whole hour and 45 minutes to get into a room. Unbelievably enough, Dr. Cardona saw me for 3 minutes and left the room without a proper goodbye. He also informed me that I "was definitely" having a c-section because my baby was measuring big. (we all know ultrasounds aren't even 100% accurate) Joke was on him; I had the one and only wonderful doctor there advise me that it was not true whatsoever and a few months later delivered my son naturally. He's a narcissist who only cares about his looks and squirting jelly on your stomach to view the baby's heartbeat. That's about all he is good for. I also had Dr. Maricel Perez Torres take a phone call (non-emergency) in the room while attending me; totally ignoring my time with her and putting another patient before while chit chatting about catching up. If you are attending me, it's to be present. Not to be having a full conversation with another patient. To add to that, I had a high risk pregnancy and losing my baby.. She said all I could do was "pray" and shrugged her shoulders with a smirk on her face. She left the room and thank the Lord I never saw her again. On a separate occasion, Dr. Cardona gave me false information while blatantly telling me that my other doctor lied about my results - this was not true. Dr. Arronte - unprofessional. Brushes off your questions and makes you feel stupid for asking anything at all. From missing results, awaiting results for months + calling multiple times, on hold for hours, having to complain to the manager, waiting times, unprofessional doctors and staff, overcharging for co-payments until I mentioned "when will this stop?" And they never charged me another co-pay. They also never sent my prescriptions to the pharmacy and made ME call and stay on hold for a whole hour. Every time I'd go in for an appointment there was an issue with either the wait time, front desk or pitiful doctors with horrible bedside manner. By the end of my pregnancy I'd have high blood pressure at every single visit. THEY were causing my stress each time I'd step foot in that place. Sadly enough I couldn't even enjoy my first pregnancy. I can rightfully say that I will never return to this office. I would have never expected to go through such turmoil, stress, and anxiety during my first pregnancy. *Apparently my review from 2019 was removed so I'm adding it again* Clearly nothing has changed and they've only gone downhill from my experience during October 2018 - June 2019. It's an absolute SHAME that such a prestigious hospital like Baptist represents this practice. Overall, a practice with 9 DOCTORS is a nightmare. There's no way humanly possible you can create a relationship with any doctor at all. This is a FACTORY to them. West Kendall OBGYN is a big and well-equipped office with numerous staff personnel who are prompt to answer your call when you are a new patient. They completely change after the first visit to the total opposite. You are placed in an office where you must wait more than 20 minutes to see the doctor and nobody comes to see or notify you about the arrival of the doctor [which in my case was 2 1/2 hours].  The assistants do not show any empathy, interest, human connections that make me feel that I am just a number or a robot in a list instead of a real human being. I decided to give them another opportunity, but the experience repeated itself when the chain of communication between West Kendall OBGYN and the pharmacy was nonexistent.  The doctor in the clinic prescribed an antibiotic for my condition and one of the front desk clerks assured me that the prescription was sent electronically to the Pharmacy. This turned out to be a big deception with West Kendall OB-GYN since the pharmacy never received the prescription. I called the Pharmacy since there was no response from them and they told me that did not receive any prescription. I attempted to contact West Kendall OBGYN [again] concerning the prescription and the pharmacy but there was no response.  I contacted again [West Kendall OBGYN] from 9:30AM to 3:45PM [without success] concerning this lack of medical professionalism and they placed me on hold repetitively with the prerecorded greetings.  One of the clerks [who identified herself as "Claudia"] answered one of my phone calls in a rude, challenging, and very demeaning as well as unprofessional manner concerning the prescription and pharmacy matter including being placed on hold again. "Claudia" only identified herself after I stated that a negative review about West Kendall OBGYN will be written.  I decided to send an E-Mail to West Kendall OBGYN explaining my situation and asking them to leave a voice mail, yet a response was never received. I called back and received another voicemail [this one identified herself as Jackie] and no response from this service.  I left a voicemail explaining the reason for my call but as you can expect from a place running for ineffective human-robots, nobody called me back or sent the antibiotic prescription to the pharmacy. I just hope I don't need them otherwise I will end it in the ER due to an untreated infection. read more
