I was looking online for a new GYN and had to make a same-day appointment due to some symptoms I was experiencing. I planned to go as a self-pay patient, but I ended up finding a more affordable alternative. I attempted to call the office to cancel the appointment before the scheduled time, but no one answered. I later received a message stating that I owed a fee for not attending the appointment. I reached out to the office, explained that I was a self-pay patient and currently out of work, and asked if they would consider waiving the fee as a courtesy. They declined, stating that it was their policy. I explained that the operator never mentioned a cancellation/no-show fee when I made the appointment. I was then told that the information had been emailed to me. However, the email they referred to was sent after the appointment was scheduled. I understand that offices have policies, but I feel that patients should be clearly informed of any cancellation or no-show fees before the appointment, especially when they are making the appointment by phone. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this office. This experience has shown me that they are not willing to work with their patients or consider individual circumstances. Instead, I felt that collecting the fee was more important to them than providing understanding or good customer service read more

I've been to both the Doral and West Kendall locations, and my experience at both has been great! The offices are clean, the technicians are kind, and the doctors are knowledgeable, caring, and take the time to listen to your concerns. This is where my sister followed her pregnancy, and it's also where I chose to follow mine. There have been a few small hiccups, but nothing major. Overall, I'm very happy with the care and office experience and would definitely recommend them to other expecting moms.

Please read if you are considering this practice for your care: I have noticed that these reviews are merged together with the OBGYN office on 117th and the office located inside West Kendall Baptist Hospital. Although they are under the same organization umbrella there truly needs to be a distinction between the two, no one has pointed that out in the reviews yet. The office located at: 8200 SW 117th Ave, Unit 304 Is truly such a gem. As a first time mom the whole experience can be nerve-wracking and foreign and honestly scary. My experience with this office has no blemishes but one. From the start the nursing assistants were so kind and so excited for our baby, it felt like each office visit was a visit to a friend. Special highlight on Denise, she truly went out of her way to know us and smile/laugh encourage us each visit. She works with Dr. Mendez-Gomez who was also such a nice person. Now it's probably normal that the Dr. you see in office will likely not attend you through birth because of hospital scheduling but this wasn't an issue for us because we were able to meet a fair amount of the Drs. during our nine months of appointments. Super special highlight for Dr. Casanova who upon first meeting us greeted us like family with hugs and warmth. I went into pregnancy just knowing to myself I would never want anything except a female doctor. Dr. Casanova changed my thought process entirely. My husband and I left gushing about how personable he was to us and every appointment after that was equally as nice and refreshing. Highly recommend. Now the office located inside of West Kendall hospital -- I fully understand why there are 1star negative reviews. I was attended to by a Doctor I never met, who must have been from West Kendall office. This was fine as we had no choice, he wasn't personable at all though. He barely spoke to us, we saw our nurses more than him. I can say I saw him twice in the span of my birthing hours. Once when I came to the hospital and once during delivery. The delivery was great, he stitched me up great. The nurses spoke during delivery not him. But anyway, I can understand the reviews on the office because I had to go to this office instead of my regular office on 117th for my stitches checkup. This office isn't warm, the office staff are short with you. On my postpartum questionnaire I answered honestly about how I was feeling and I expected someone to acknowledge I needed help and talk to me about it. After checking my stitches the nurse told the Dr my score. He stayed in the room with me for all of 2 minute, spoke softly and unintelligible, I couldn't understand him. I left that office wishing I had gone to my regular office. Anyway all that to say, there NEEDS to be a distinction between the two practices with the same name. If you have the choice I highly recommend the West Kendall OBGYN located on 117th. read more

Choosing your OB during pregnancy should be about so much more than just credentials or years of experience. I wasn't simply looking for an impressive resume -- I was looking for genuine, personalized human care. I wanted someone I could fully trust during one of the most vulnerable and important moments of my life, and that is exactly what I found with Dr. Casannova. From day one, he made me feel safe, respected, and truly heard. One of the things I appreciated most was that he always allowed me to make my own informed decisions without ever making me feel pressured by the usual "one-size-fits-all" standards of the system. He gave me the freedom and confidence to listen to my body and trust my instincts, which meant everything to me. Beyond being an amazing doctor, he is incredibly kind, welcoming, patient, and genuinely caring. You can tell he truly loves what he does and deeply cares for his patients. From our very first appointment, he promised me he would be there for my delivery -- and he kept that promise. My delivery happened unexpectedly and much sooner than anticipated, and even though he was not scheduled to be at the hospital, he still showed up for me. That level of dedication, compassion, and commitment is something I will never forget. I will forever be grateful that I chose Dr. Casannova to guide me through my pregnancy journey. He made such a life-changing experience feel empowering, supported, and special from beginning to end. I truly could not have asked for a better OB doctor, and I recommend him with all my heart. read more

I wish I would've read the reviews before coming here. Horrible office. They were supposed to call me to schedule a procedure, 2 weeks later no one calls and no one answers the phone. I call every day for 2 weeks and no one picks up. They don't have a voicemail option. When I talk to the receptionist she said there is nothing they can do and that I had to keep trying. They were also supposed to call me for the results and haven't heard a word. The receptionist are rude and treat you like you are bother them. Please don't come here. read more

Dr. Arcone was attentive, compassionate, and professional, and my care with him was excellent. Unfortunately, the overall experience at West Kendall OBGYN was undermined by office staff who appeared more focused on rigid processes than on patient-centered care. Interactions felt impersonal and transactional, leaving little sense of being heard or valued as an individual. Patients seeking a supportive, responsive environment should be aware that they may feel like just a number here. read more

Dr. Somoano is a most caring, professional excellent physician. Have known about him for over 30 years where all his patients have spoken nothing but the best about him. Every time I come to an appt I have to wait an hour or more. People are constantly all over the place never giving their full attention to you. I went in for blood and while she was waiting for my vain. To show she went to the room next me to take out blood on another patient this place is overly packed and I have no idea why if the place is full of incompetent people and they call you 3x to confirm your appt it makes no sense. Goooooddd i hate this place. They never answer! And it doesn't allow you to just leave a voicemail. Spent 45 minutes on hold just to try to make an appt. I'm officially leaving. It's just not worth it. The care already sucks and the service sucks. I feel like leaving will be a hassle bc they have sooo many additional charges. It's 2020. Dr. Laura Puckett was very nice, but that office as a whole is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at any medical facility. I was contacted by the office earlier this week and was told I was being sent orders for some tests. I was never sent the orders although they confirmed they'd email them. A few days later, I tried calling their office. Their phone system has a setup to pick different departments. Not a single department answers their phone regardless of how many times I've called and regardless of what department I try. They pick up, throw you on hold, then hang up on you. Worst customer service ever. I will be requesting my records and changing practices immediately. This is not the type of office I want for my medical care - the type of office that avoids all patients. No, thank you. read more

Horrible--never come here!!! Even though i have insurance, the front desk made me self-pay for the entire procedure upfront. When I asked why, they were extremely rude and had no idea what they were talking about. I had the worst experience with this practice. I returned as a patient after a few years living out of the state. I was hesitant because my amazing doctor (Dr. Marotta) was no longer at that office. This office in particular has the most rude staff and besides the midwife, the doctors have the worse bedside manners possible. Dr. Perfetto scolded me for getting pregnant 9 month postpartum because I had a C-section. I had a history of pregnancy lost (4 in total before having a successful pregnancy) so I had talked to my OB in California and we had agreed to wait at least 6 months and I waited 9 months to get pregnant again. The interaction with Dr. Perfetto made decide to move back to California to have my second child. I really don't recommend this practice to anyone. I do have to add, thank you to the 96th st office front desk staff for helping me when the town and country location acted unreasonable. read more

I made an appointment on a Wednesday for a Friday morning to see a doctor in this practice. Upon arriving I was told that I had missed my appointment and it had been on Thursday!! I knew this was not true since I had written it down and confirmed with the receptionist before I hung up the phone! I also have standing appointments on Thursday mornings so I would never have made it on a Thursday. Not only did they not apologize but they argued with me that it was my mistake. They wanted me to re-schedule. I left the office furious and vowed NOT to go back! read more

If I can give them a -star I would. I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this place is horrible. I went the first time and got there 30 minutes early and completed all the forms. The ladies on the front just took the form and told me that they would call me. They sat there chatting for an hour. After seeing everyone that came after me be called I went up to them and asked when I would be seeing. The lady had the face to ask me if I had completed the forms? I told her that I had given it to them an hour ago. To what she said oh let me see. She asked me to sit again and told me that I would be seeing soon. The excuse was that the doctor was seeing a new patient. My appointment was at 10 and the doctor ended seeing me at 12:20pm. Ridiculous I sat in that room with the crappy coverup they give you for 20 minutes. The doctor saw me for 10 minutes and asked me to come back in three weeks for results and blood work. Forward to today 3 weeks later. I had my appointment at 9:30 got there at 9:14 and guess what I sat there for an hour. I went up to them because they don't have the courtesy to tell you anything. When I went up to the ladies up front all I got was that they were checking on my insurance. Mind you I confirmed my appointment 3 times with them. They don't have respect for peoples time and they lack communication. People have things to do and this is why we make appointments and not just walk in. I won't go there ever again even if it was the ob/gyn in the world. Don't waste your time read more

I do not recommend this OBGYN. I am a mother of an 18 year old that was seen by Claudia Cabanas which will no longer be her provider as she was belittled and treated as if she didnt know what she was doing instead of educating her in an appropriate matter. Id also like to point out that medical providers are NOT trained in hormones and as a mattter of a fact know VERY little. I would highly suggest these providers to be trained in hormones to better understand their patients, especially younger ones that seek your medical advice. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Somoano for many years and began going to West Kendall OBGYN when he merged with them a few years back. I had a great experience in 2018 with my pregnancy and honestly had no complaints but this year there seem to be many changes in the office that are in no way positive. I am now pregnant with my second and my experience has been HORRIBLE. I can truly say I haven't even enjoyed this pregnancy in part due to them. For starters, every single time you call you will be placed on hold for no less than 10 minutes but most of the time 20 or more. I'm not sure how they're running the office, but I haven't called a single time that they answer ready to assist without a long hold. Secondly, obtaining results from them is TORTURE. It seems they hold results and do not release them for no known reason. No one calls you and when you call they tell you to call back in x amount of days, etc. Lastly, 3 of their greatest doctors are leaving at the same time which I find hard to believe is pure coincidence. The office is nothing like it was two years ago and unfortunately it is too late for me to transfer out now because no other office wants to take me on midway through a pregnancy but if you can save yourself the headache and anguish, please do! read more

I have been calling for a week now and either I get no response or get hung up on. The front desk ladies are extremely rude on the phone when they actually do answer and "transfer" you to a line where they just hang up on you. Beyond frustrating. I was impressed with Dr Casanova and really wanted to give him a try due to how comfortable I felt on my first visit but I am really considering changing OBGYN because of their poor customer service. Upset beyond words. read more

Please, People, read all of the comments because they are true and the ones from a year or two. Because it doesn't look like they're improving at all. The hospital they practice needs to something about them. Worst place ever. If you have to go to them because you are expecting don't. My wife has had HG due to pregnancy and is also a high-risk patient. She's called several times to ask for advice when she felt symptoms and they never ordered anything to check her out. My wife had to change doctors and thank God we found a new one and they ordered standard tests. We found out that my wife is anemic and had low potassium she was also two points away from a blood transfusion and that could have caused her to lose the baby or her life. When she felt her heart racing (which is a symptom of anemia) they told her she had to relax. All of the Nursing staff there are rude and they like to undermine everything you have to say. If I can give zero stars I would. read more

This place is really shady!!!! I called my insurance and they said they were flagged because of that. They will tell you your insurance will cover all the services they provide and then you will receive a bill for more than $200. No information or approval ask prior services are rendered. When you call they will advise all services were rendered so bill is correct. This is the second time it happens, first time I received a bill for a service I didn't request nor needed and wasn't asked for approval but second time was even worst!!!!! They used ultrasound for no reason and I was billed $220 (my insurance covered more than 50%) for a 5 min ultrasound!!! I would get $80 ultrasounds for my colon twice a month and it will take way longer than that!!!!! In addition, waiting time was more than an hour, I had appt for 2:30pm but I walk in to the exam room almost 4:00pm. read more

I had written this as their first review and it got removed due to them having this new page that's certified. Hopefully they have worked to make this place better. My first and worst experience at a gynecologist! I went in for the first time and didn't get a single explanation on anything. I was more clueless leaving than when I went in! It is a clean office but that the only positive. I waited for about an hour and had to reschedule. The second time I waited nearly 3 hours then another 40 minutes in the room for the doctor! Finally when the doctor came in to see me he was with me 4 minutes the most and didn't explain a thing to me about family planning. 1 star simply because I have to. I went to a new gyno and right away even they told me they didn't recommend the family planning pills I was taking for my first time taking anything. Also not a very friendly staff. Everyone was monotone and not welcoming. read more

Ugh. I hate this practice. I was gonna give one star, but I'll give 2 because both my babies are happy and healthy and because it led me to the BEST OB/Gyn doctor ever, who thankfully now has her own practice! Has anyone collected stats at this place for how many c-sections they perform? It has got to be one of the highest in the city. Every single person I know that delivered with this group except one ended up "needing" a c-section, including myself. In addition to a higher likelihood of c-section, there's also the issue of staff ineptitude and lack of compassion from some of the doctors. I experienced terrible hyperemesis gravidarum with both my pregnancies, and ended up hospitalized for it my first pregnancy. My OB at the time, Dr. Arronte, would not fill out the paperwork I needed to qualify for FMLA due to it. He just shrugged it off. How, exactly, was I supposed to work as an ER nurse when I was throwing up 189247972342343 times a day? Ridiculous. It's not like I had a desk job where I could puke into a bucket while working at a computer. Ugh. Things got much better when a new doctor joined the practice and I switched over to her. Someone who knew what it was like to be pregnant, and who understood the situation I was in. Call me sexist, but after this experience I swore I'd never have a male OB/Gyn ever again. The wait times are horrendous. At least an hour every single visit. If you want to feel like you're in a factory on an assembly line of pregnant bodies, then this is the place for you. If you want individualized, compassionate care, look elsewhere. read more

Let me tell you that the staff is VERY incompetent. I feel bad for the decent work that the OBGYN does i hated every appointment I had. The staff would send "referrals" for the anatomy of my baby and would claim that they sent it but the other office would never receive anything! I couldn't get access to their "portal" because they kept sending it to the wrong email, even after I had them corrected it! There was so much back and forth that it caused me so much unnecessary STRESS during my pregnancy. Then they have to do an ultra in every visit...it wasn't until I was 7 mths pregnant that it was for no reason because I did NOT have a high risk pregnancy. They literally had me believing that it was needed so the "doctor" can see the baby's development" - with that being said, I'm convinced they only do it so they can charge more to the insurance and keep in mind if it's deemed unnecessary by the insurance chances are you have to pay out of pocket! then they start telling my that they don't take my insurance after I had checked with them BEFORE I even got the insurance - I was left with no doctor for 4 Mths bc they couldnt communicate anything properly! Luckily I found a better office that was actually in MY BEST INTEREST! SHAME ON THIS OFFICE - I HOPE YOU ALL DO BETTER BECAUSE THIS IS NOT IT! Id give you 0 stars if I could. read more

This is the worst OBGYN. Save your time and money and go to another OBGYN if you want to be well taken care of. 1. The staff is rude. They hang up on you. They lie to you. They yell at you. Forget asking for a manager. The doctor themselves are disgusting. 2. The wait time is over an hour so forget if you have work or have plans that day. The doctor and staff sits on their nice chair not caring about your life. 3. Just run. 4. With everything going on with Coronavirus, they aren't even checking if you have a fever and are willing to shake your hand to spread germs right before they begin to yell at you. Conclusion: Disgusting people in attitude, service and hygiene. If you want to be treated horribly, yelled at, waste your time and get Coronavirus then this is the place for you. read more

This office looks fancy, but its very poorly run not to mention many of the providers have cold and brusk bedside manner. The practice feels very disorganized. You have to repeat personal information multiple times to multiple staff members, and sometimes I have even heard them speaking about it loudly in the hallway, only to have to repeat myself to someone else... I have even called ahead to mitigate some of the confusion, but it did not help. Poor communication, organization and perhaps overwhelm make it a very frazzled place to be, which is unfortunate because you want to be as relaxed as possible when going to the OB/GYN's office. Wait time for appointments is atrocious. I thought maybe it was just I came on an off day, but after having to wait more than an hour for all of my visits (am and pm times) I realized it was the norm not an exception. During my time there I saw Dr. Patricia Perfetto, she was combative, had terrible communication skills and was totally emotionally stunted. We always ended up getting into some sort of confrontation because I didn't comprehend what she was telling me (confusing or conflicting instructions) she also felt insensitive, dismissive and victim-blamey. I also saw Dr. Frank Cardona who had a better demeanor, but felt really narcissistic and focused and talking about himself (his obsession with working out and Superman) rather than me- the patient. He was nice(r), but not enough to make me feel warm and fuzzy about my gynecological care. The medical aides (weight, blood pressure, etc) are completely hit or miss. Sometimes you'd get one that was really kind, but I would say the majority came off very stuck up and conceited. Snobby seemed to be a cultural norm for the practice. Another issue which wasn't a deal breaker, but still off-putting was the urine collection system. You just pee in a plastic dixie-type cup and leave it in the bathroom. For an "upscale" practice, this system seemed outdated and unsanitary. I never seen anything like it before. They need a much better system. Because of my experiences with the wait, staff and providers I have switched my OB/GYN practice. I would NOT recommend these folks unless you like waiting for hours, being treated badly and care that lacks any semblance of compassion. read more

I would give this office zero stars but the physicians that work here are great, so they get at 1 star. My mother is a patient and was diagnosed with cervical cancer. While awaiting the results of her pap smear, she received a call she needed to make an appointment to find out the results. My mother asked if the results were bad and why it couldn't be told over the phone. The staff responded "It wouldn't be good results if you had to come in." My mother had a post-op follow up for a pap smear. She called for weeks for the results of her post-op Pap smear, since she never received a call back, and was immediately put on hold every time she called. She would be on hold for extended periods of time without anyone answering the calls. She finally got through and was sent to a voicemail of a physician's assistant and has still been unable to get her results. I called multiple times to try and receive the results but had similar success with being put on hold for extended periods of time and not speaking to a staff member. I made an appointment for myself for fertility issues because I know the physicians there are great. I called to make an appointment and told them I was coming in because I couldn't get pregnant. I went to my appointment and told the MA it was because I couldn't get pregnant. Another MA came in and she told me that I was here for my yearly pap smear. When I told her that I was here because I couldn't get pregnant and didn't need/want a pap smear she responded "we don't take care of that because your insurance won't pay for that visit." She proceeded to tell me how their office couldn't bill for my complaint and they wouldn't let the doctor see me. She gave me some IVF flyers and showed me to the front door. This office may have amazing physicians but you have to get through rude, classless and abrasive office staff. Whoever runs that office has not educated their staff on how to deal with the general public or how to act with some decorum when speaking to patients about delicate topics such as cancer and infertility.
