Had heard some good things about this recently re-furbed and re-opened restaurant so tried it out. Venue seems a little unsure of what it is - sports bar or restaurant, but the food was great and really good value.
The sweet chilli sauce that came with the home-made the fishcakes was outstanding, but the strong flavours in it overpowered the fishcakes somewhat. The steak was really good, complemented nicely by the cafe de paris butter. My mate has the burger which he thought good too.
Fruit crumble with custard for pudding. The crumble was OK but the custard was a dish in itself.
I noticed on the wine list they stock Chateau Musar - a particular fave of mine - they recommend calling before you come and asking that they decant the Musar so it can be left to breathe which is a nice idea. Interestingly this is priced at £25 a bottle - compared to £65 at Oloroso and other city centre eateries! I decided to go for the house red which was surprisingly good.
All in all, I thought it was excellent.
