DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I had them install 2 runs of wooden fence and 2 custom gates. They ordered the gates wrong and refused to correct the problem. The fence now leans at a 45 degree angle after just a normal afternoon windstorm and they tell me "get a handman to fix it we don't warranty our fences". The gates both have to be lifted in order to open or close. The man that installed the first run of fence was fired after the day he worked on my property due to him spending most of his time in his truck smoking and not finishing the job. The owner is rude when you speak to him and doesn't care about customers at all. So I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! The negative reviews here must be science fiction, because I've never had, or heard of a negative experience with this company, and I find it hard to believe these people did as written. 1. WCF has a professional, knowledgeable office staff and ditto for the installer crew. 2. The Installation and appearance of my new fence is precise and badass. The construction of their wood panels and gates is far superior to that of the 'big box' guys. Stringer sizes are consistent, and pickets are thicker. 3. Just as important, they worked with me through a misunderstanding I had (My bad) , which says it all about a service company. 4. Finally, the Price was very competitive. I would recommend West Coast without blinking. Having issues uploading photos . Will keep attempting. FRUSTRATING! Order was placed and 50% deposit was given in November with install date for mid January. They didn't show up on the agreed install date. We called and scheduled new date. Then they didn't show up on that date either. We called and they wouldn't even give us an install date. TERRIBLE COMPANY!! I placed the deposit for my fence months ago and they gave me an installation date that was months out. I waited patiently only to have them not show up on the day they said they'd install. When I called to ask if they were coming they said "probably not" and were unable to give me a date that they would come. They said it would be "sometime next week." Well, sometime next week came around and I called them again only to have them do the same thing...told me I would have to wait another week but weren't able to give me a firm date. Had $10,000+worth of Vinyl fence installed by them a few years ago. The 2 installers were excellent and I was very happy with the fence. However, my fence needs repair after Hurricane Milton- not down, just pushed by the winds and leaning. When I went in a week later they were very rude but took my name and information. I have not heard from them so went in this morning to see where I stood in the line of getting a quote or date- they obviously lost my information (not surprised their front office staff is very unfriendly they probably misplaced it). They told me I could get it repaired on Dec 16th because they had 1 opening that particular day. I said I couldn't that day as I would be working, I would need a W/Th/or Fri. And I wanted to show them which panels (9 of them) that I was concerned about- They said the guys would know and do the work. It was that day or I could call back sometime but they didn't know if or when they would ever get to it. The owner then came out and was SO RUDE and started yelling at me- I was really taken aback by his attitude- he said it was that day or never! He had 3000 jobs to do! So I guess he expected me to just hire them without even knowing what they would charge or specifically what I needed done. NOT! They have been mostly rude to deal with in the past but I overlooked it- I cannot overlook it this time. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. So sorry I ever used them in the first place- that's what $10,000 worth of business gets you at this place. Good luck if you hire them. based on the reviews, I'm probably wasting time posting my dissatisfaction with their warranty. I've called and called to get the gate latch reattached to my vinyl gate. I've been told that someone did come by. well then why didn't they fix it? the person noted what parts I need. well I have the latch but there should have been 6 screws to hold it but only 2 were used. if I have someone else fix it, I will be out of warranty. they are very good at "screwing" customers. I called west coast fencing company for an estimate, I've never experience such a rude and unprofessional person in my life. He had the audacity to tell me to go to home deport all because I asked him about the measurements. Now this is the owner ( Tom Gavaghan) of the company. Maybe this is a sign from God that he showed his true colors. He was nasty and rude. I definitely would never recommend this company to anyone or anything. The owner and his staff need some customer service training especially "Tom Gavahan" the owner. I'm still in aw because I can't believe that he has been in business as long as he has. The contract was revised due to the estimator that came out gave the wrong measurements and the contract had been written over and some work was whited out. "Idiotic stuff like this" - Tom, the owner's words to me about issues THEY caused. I ordered a wooden fence and installed it with my dad. His guys dropped off the order and were very nice. They even helped lay the sections out in the yard for me. Problem #1- I did not receive enough end pieces. I called and got more I went and picked them up NBD. Problem #2 - They gave me the wrong end pieces. It was just a plank from a totally different style of fence ripped in half. (See pics) Problem # 3- When I called and told them, Tom yelled at me saying "No one knows what your talking about and no one messed up! " "Come in and show me what your talking about." Problem #4- I went in to show him and he yelled at me AGAIN in front of two of his employees. Saying that the two obviously different end pieces are the same thing. The fence material was good. The installation of the fence was very bad. The crew had to come back out 3 times and it is still not correct. The fence is not leveled at all. From the moment the old dude showed up he did nothing but belittle our requests, argue about how he couldn't do anything we needed, (We just wanted a simple quote for a fence) and was rude and condescending the whole time. He even managed to insult the other company we had give us a quote, all within about 5 minutes. Would never recommend this company to anybody. Judging by the other reviews, the owner (and their employees) could use a lesson or two on effective communication and how to treat a customer. I had my vinyl fence installed in June, I called in early October and spoke to a woman about having them come and look at my one gate because you could only lock the gate from the outside and not from the backyard. She very rudely told me that they would send someone out to look at it. This was a Friday afternoon. I told her oh don't worry about it over the weekend. We can manage for now. She laughed and said again rudely "oh we aren't coming out anytime soon. We will have someone stop by and look at it when we have a job in the area." Well, today is 1/8/2021 and they have yet to contact me or "be in the area". This business is a joke and I shouldn't have to wait until they are in the area to fix something on my fence that I paid over $7,000 for. Totally unacceptable. West Coast fence installed a new fence and driveway gate out of wood less than two years ago. They warranted their work for two years. Last week the wind tore off one of the driveway gates. Turns out the upper strap Hinge had only one screw that was screwed into wood. The other two screws missed the board completely. I called them last ThursdayAnd the woman I spoke to good night tell me how long the warranty was good not find my file and when I asked her just to have somebody come out and fix it warranty or not she said she would send somebody out to look at it. I said no just fix it it will take you 20 minutes. If you want money for it because it's not under warranty let me know. She could answer is nothing. Two hours later I called back and she was still confused didn't remember me couldn't find the file again. The next day at 9 AM I call and I get a woman and she starts giving me the same I don't know who you are and what you're talking about line at which point I get upset and she gets upset at me I asked to talk to the owner and she leaves me on the phone for five minutes. Then a woman comes on and claims that she's the owner with her husband Tom. It's Friday I have a dog and I need the fence. She says we can get somebody out Monday or Tuesday. I say no you need to get someone out today I have a dog. Here it is Tuesday eveningThe gate is not fixed and I have not heard from West Coast. I chose to use West Coast Fence due to a competitive quote given to me by someone who, I later found out, no longer works for the company. The nightmare began when the owner Tom came out to locate the pins for my property line. He moaned and complained that he should be paid extra for a survey due to having to dig to find property pins. A bizarre way to introduce yourself to a new customer. When I got my quote it was completely ineligible. I called to have them run over what I couldn't read, and the response I got from the owner was, 'Call me back when you have made up your mind.' Ignorant in itself and by no way an answer to my question. When the time arrived for the work to begin, the first day turned out to be the day it was due to be completed which proved very inconvenient as I had already booked time off work. There was no courtesy call to explain, least of all an apology. On that day all they did was erect 5 sections and a wire fence leaving a pile of dirt in my front driveway together with concrete left on my lawn which was clearly a safety issue. My lawn guy had to blow the dirt away leaving me with dirt/mud that continues to splash up onto my new fence and brick walkway whenever it rains. Again, I pointed it out to the installer who complained about how he works every other Saturday and this wasn't the one and that he had a family! Unbelievable. When the last day to have the gates put up arrived the guy just turned up with no prior warning, even though the office had said they would call ahead with a specific day. The installer's abhorrent behavior then was to tell me how glad he was to have finished THIS job and that I could use some counseling, knowing that that was my profession. When you're paying over $8000., you'd expect a job done right and if I have any questions I have a right to get answers. Obviously an inconvenience for him. When I happened to mention the dirt left around my yard, Tommie the installer claimed that it wasn't there. I walked away saying I wasn't going to argue about it. My lawn service company confirmed that was not the case as they had been the ones that had cleaned it all up. You should not have to ask any contractor to clean up after themselves. My fence was finally completed on 8/4/20. A month later, there were 2-3 sections that were sagging from the bottom and falling apart, leaving gaps between the "pickets", along with other gaps I found that had not been checked and did not line up. This time the company did come out to fix it, although when I'd called and asked to speak to Lindy at the front desk, he interrupted by saying that I was going to talk to HIM. I had made it abundantly clear that I was done talking to this ignorant owner any more. During this same phone conversation the owner was intent on sending someone out and already had, again, without prior warning or consideration for my work. Instead his usual terse manner, 'We are doing things my way, you'll have to make the time." He ended it all by calling me unreasonable. The only thing the owner of this company listened to is putting up the fence I asked for and getting paid. I did not think having a fence put up would come along with such blatant rudeness, and unprofessionalism. I have since had my experience confirmed by 3 employees of this company identifying the owner in exactly the same way. He is abhorrent beyond belief. I am also a business owner and if I treated my clients in the same manner that I was treated, I would be out of business. When I enjoy a customer experience I am the first to applaud and write a favorable review so that others may enjoy a similar experience. I had a 6 foot wood privacy fence installed by West Coast less than 3 years ago. Since then, boards have warped and gate hinges have fallen out the 4x4 posts. They used cheap screws installing the latches, which have not worked smoothly since new. We called about some repairs on said items and they told us there is a $300 minimum on any repairs. They know they sell a poor product and make the cost of repair prohibitive. read more

I'm forced to write this review because of a very unfortunate conversation I had with Tom at West Coast Fence. The shared fence and two gates that West Coast installed for me and my neighbor was done in a timely and efficient manner. The workers were friendly and the end result was very satisfactory. My single complaint, and the only reason I will never recommend this company, was my absolute horror over the outright rudeness of Tom (who I think is one of the bosses and possibly the owner). My issue was with one of the hinges on my gate. The spring retention pin couldn't be held in place so I called for service to correct the problem. The service was provided quickly but after a week I noticed the pin came out of the hinge again. So I called West coast again. Tom got on the phone and with nothing but clear distain in his manner, accused me of abusing the gate. I can go on and on about the conversation but as a customer I was left feeling pretty low and demeaned. After Tom's talking down to me and refusing to believe that the two week old gate wasn't being abused or that the spring hinge was bad , he said he'd send someone out for the last time (maybe in 6 months, maybe sooner). He ended by saying he's hanging up on me which he abruptly did. I mean, I was dumbfounded. I know, there's two sides to every conversation but I remained as composed as possible given my shock over Tom's outright meanness to me on the phone. The good news is Tom did send two repairmen to fix the gate (guess-what, the hinge was bad!!). The repairmen were very pleasant as were the initial installers. The bad new is Tom-whoever he is- does a huge disservice to the workers at West Coast and its customers. Tom left an otherwise satisfied customer very dismayed by his harshness. Tom, if you read this- you're not a very nice person. PS/ Tom, I apologize if during our phone call perhaps you were dealing with a life crisis or something. But even then, pass the phone to someone else if you can't avoid belittling the customers. read more

I`m extremely dissatisfied with this company . The whole experience was aggravating . They had to return twice to correct shoddy workmanship . The biggest issue was the fact that my gate latch can not be locked with a padlock and swings open even with the lock in place . They also neglected to put sleeves in to accomodate the drop rods . I had been told that both of my gates would be secured with key locks . When I spoke to them and complained I was told that this was my problem and the only way to secure the gate was for me to drill holes in the posts and install a chain lock . The final insult was that when I griped about their installation I was hung up on . They are the most rude and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with . I hired these guys without checking the online reviews first and I am glad I did. From Frank who came out twice to discuss what we wanted and help prepare the initial estimates to Lindy in the office who gracefully handled last minute changes and answered all of my crazy questions and of course Steve who came out for the installation and did an excellent job, I can honestly say I am beyond satisfied and will defiantly use West Coast Fence again. I had even stopped by their office 3 or 4 times before the install with questions, changes and to drop of the deposit and EVERYONE there was pleasant, friendly and helpful. As a person who usually finds issues with the quality of workmanship by people who work on my home after watching Steve work I have never felt more at ease. I have used West coast fence in the past to purchase materials for my previous home and had another company install with success. When I purchased my new home I contacted West Coast and used them to replace my existing fence. All was good until my sprinklers came on the night they finished and neither zone worked due to broken pipes. I contacted them the next day and was informed it's in my contract that they were not responsible for my sprinkler pipes being broken and all fence companies have the same inclusion. I explained to them I could understand if it was a new fence, and that the one pipe was clearly visible. I was informed that should be an easy fix then. Why should I have to repair something that wasn't broken in the first place? I can understand installing a new fence and them not knowing where the sprinkler lines are, however both places where the sprinkler lines were broken is where the existing posts were. One was clearly visible and not only did they break the pipe, it was punctured when they put mesh up to conceal the area so they could install the panels the next day. I've spent a few thousands of dollars with this company never again. The customer service is not up to par. I feel the installers know they can do whatever and are not liable for anything. Think twice before you go with this company. West coast, you want to stand out from the other Fence companies, then make a change to your policy and stand out from the rest, and treat your returning customers better. read more

My next door neighbor had a fence put in by these people. First, there was no record of any permit on the county website. After contacting a Commissioner, he forwarded me a number of the permit. I watched this being put up. At the end of the first day, something told me to check my sprinklers. I turned on the zone on the fence side. Two of my sprinklers were actually buried under the fence. The rest were safe, as they are inside my chain linked fence. They went over the property line to my property, so they will have to move a lot of fence. Noticed their upright posts are not "dipped"...none of the wood is. The posts are not anchored in concrete, just holes dug with a post hole digger. I could push this fence over by myself. Guess they cut the cable line, too, as the cable company was here to fix the owner's cable. There are going to be issues if things aren't fixed, correctly. read more

"Kelly" was able to assist me with a very close substitute from their stock and cut them down to 48" for me based solely on an email conversation. My order for 36 pickets was ready when I arrived. In the midst of handling multiple phone orders, Kelly was still able to handle my meager order cheerfully and professionally I can wholeheartedly recommend this company. Had them take down and rebuild a board on board fence with a gate. The fence installation was done properly however the gate was misaligned causing the upper corner to be off two inches from the center of the post. I had them come out and look at it and a young man said the gate needed to be reinstalled or replaced. He was quickly overruled by an older man obviously in a supervisory position, who said that all gates are going to warp one way or the other. I disagreed with his assessment but nothing further was done. My next door neighbor also had this company install a fence and his gate is also visibly misaligned. I have to say how highly disappointed I am with the service and the treatment I received from the owner of this establishment. It was unnecessary and just appalling to come from a business owner. This company does not treat each customer equally and when questioned, I was told it was "just tough" Our neighbor informed us that he was having new fence installed. I thought this might have been a perfect opportunity for us to replace 4 SECTIONS of fence that was needed to be removed. Within a few days of the estimate for our neighbor I reached out to Westcoast. My experience with the girl I spoke with on the phone should have been foresite of the experience I would have with the owner....but I assumed, we all have our bad days. When I explained our need I was abruptly cutoff and informed that they would not have anyone available to quote me for installation of the 4 SECTIONS until April (at least 2 months out.) I went on to ask, if I could at least get a ball park figure on the costs for the supply and she was very VERY irritated with me. Instead of giving me the answer, she answered with the service hours minimum, something albeit true - I felt she was saying in an effort to discourage continue a conversation. THERE WAS NO SENSE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE DURING THE CALL. I pressed for the estimate and she flew thru some numbers, calling off parts as if I myself was a fence installer and knew what she was talking about. From what I gathered I had about $475 in product which didn't make sense to pay $450 in labor...I got off the phone upset with the service, but moved on. Fast forward to March 3. WC is out to install the neighbors fence, I learned from my husband that the neighbor on the other side is also having them install a LINE of fence. This neighbor called AFTER Westcoast fence quoted and scheduled the original neighbors job. So there was no onsite estimate given on the same day....but some miraculous way they were able to get this booked at the same time AND NOT PAY THE SERVICE MINIMUM....I was furious. How could this be possible? So I decided to call them back again, in hopes that someone there would surely have good reason or perhaps even see if at least an estimate could be done. When I called, it was a different person who answered. When I explained to her the situation, she was doubtful of my words. After asking her to check, she looked into it and saw that INDEED, the other neighbor was also getting their fence line done AND they were not required to pay the $450 service minimum. She was baffled, but was not able to deny it either. She took my information for the sales rep or the owner to call me. I was optimistic that we could come up with something....and that perhaps it was a misunderstanding. I received a call from Tom (who I was informed is the owner) within the hour. I explained the reason for my call and before I could finish, he was quick and abrupt to tell me that each neighbor would have their own appointment. That they must have had an estimate given to them on the same day and the other neighbor that booked. That every house would be responsible for the $450 service minimum. I proceeded to explain to him that was absolutely not true in this case, he told me well that is "just tough" and that starting next month the labor minimum would be increased to $600...diverting the conversation to what was obviously pointed out to him. He went on to tell me that they were currently very overwhelmed AGAIN diverting what was pointed out. There is an expectation of a good business owner. They must have a level of professionalism and respect for its customers (current, past, and future) regardless of how there day is going or pressure they are under. You are a leader and set the tone/ example to your employees. If you are not able to handle this, I highly advise hiring someone who can. His tone and attitude during the conversation was the same I met with on my first call experience. There is a way to handle things while still showing respect, empathy, and professionalism - Tom was not. I have heard of Westcoast fence over the year, I assumed that they were the whole package. I see now that is not the case. They are fortunate today that their business is busy, the pandemic has made many homeowners invest in home improvements and I know many industries who have benefited from this. But at some point, the business will slow down when the homes are all updated; work may not be as plentiful. If your this OVERWHELMED, I can only imagine the impact this will have in the quality of work and the timing of being able to get the job done. There are other fencing companies out there that have quality workers, professional office staff, Ownership/ Management, and who treat their customers with respect. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! It all starts with customer service, something this business lacks. In fact, Tom, adamantly boasts about their poor customer service and takes pride in it. I scheduled installation about 2 months ago. On the day of installation I called them to verify it was still scheduled. This is the first issue, I had to call them to make sure the installation was still a go. Tom informed me that they had run behind on the previous days work but assured me they would be there as soon as they were done. I got home that night and NO work had even been started. The next morning, Saturday, I called to find out what the problem was. I got all the excuses Tom could come up with. I wanted to know why somebody had not called me to tell me they weren't going to make it. Tom's reply.....you said you weren't going to be home....SMH. I said yes Tom that is correct but why not call my cell phone? Again, no explanation. He then proceeds to tell me they will try to get there later on in the day. I pleaded for him to call me if they weren't going to make it. I received a phone call around 1:30 that afternoon from Tom explaining they would not be there today. At that point I asked Tom what he could do to ensure he keeps my business. His reply, we will install the fence......lol......yes Tom you were suppose to have already done that, I replied. He then berated me and told me I needed more understanding about the construction business. I give this company Zero stars. I paid for a fence, however they did not use concrete to even stabilize the post that went to the gate. Now after just 2 weeks I cant even open the gate. Clearly concrete is at least needed to stabilize the gate and latch panels. Zero of the posts were concreted in. So I called the owner Tom and he said "go fix it yourself" and hung up on me. He actually said, 'it rained the other day, maybe it was the rain". Well any rain would not of mattered if the posts were concreted in. So when you see that the cost of West Coast Fence is less than the competitors, know that's because they do not use concrete. My family used this company for years but lately the customer service has gone to sh..... I called for service on a fence that was put up in 2017 that encloses my camper. I went to open the custom made gate and it literally fell apart. I called the company and the manager (Thomas) whom was very rude said that it would cost me $450 just to send someone out to look at the gate. The complete install cost of the job with two custom gates and fence in 2017 cost me less than $1000 so that seemed to be a little pricey to me. Thomas then became irate and told me either pay the money or to fu...fix it myself. BEWARE!! The owner is rude and mean! I have used them twice hoping to get a different result this time and didn't come close! They used my old gate when I was supposed to get new one per my contract and when I brought it to the owners attention he cussed at me! The staff can't even stand him it's obvious! They cut my old posts instead of taking them out and even left large gaps and cracks I had to fix myself!!! NEVER again will I use them or recommend this crappy company! read more

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my interaction with West Coast. From the start, there was a clear lack of communication. Following receipt of my quote from West Coast, I was concerned that the property in the southwest corner of my yard was not accounted for. As such, I immediately contacted the company to express my concerns and was told the changes would not be an issue and the charge for service would remain the same. In addition, I dropped off a copy of my survey which reflected my wishes. I paid a deposit and was told my fence would be installed on 9/9/16. I understand that unforeseen circumstances arose due to Hermine; however, the complete lack of communication by West Coast is my issue. I called West Coast the day before installation to find out the specifics of the installation process only to learn that there would be a delay. If I had not reached out, I wouldn't have found out until I received a message from Tom the morning of install. Furthermore, after asking, I learned that the price of my service had increased by almost $500. It was NEVER communicated to me that the price of service had increased. In fact, as I had mentioned, I called back the next day after someone came out to evaluate my property and was assured that there would be NO price increase. I was not expecting to get anything for free, but if there is an increase in cost, it should have been relayed to me long before the date of installation and without me having to ask. After learning of the delay and increased price, I spoke with Tom and Frank this morning. Frank was extremely rude and said, "screw it" I'll just send you your deposit back. read more

This company cannot be trusted. I contracted to have a fence installed, and was told to mark my lawn sprinkler pipes. I spent hours and marked every line with flags and painted the runs to ensure no problems. 6 line breaks, four cut wires, 685.00 in repairs resulted. The installers pulled the flags and could have cared less. When I called the company to speak to the owner, he said "read your contract, and hung up" BEWARE ! read more

Contracted with this company to repair a gate to a dumpster enclosure. The gate to the enclosure drooped and would not close properly without physically lifting the gate. Met with Glen and the company came and re-cemented the post, replaced hardware and made adjustments to the gate. Within one week the gate was drooping again. Had the company come back and asked Glen if we needed a wheel to prevent the gate from pulling down the post. Glen stated that if the post was installed correctly, we would not need a wheel. The company then reset the post. It has been about 2 months and the gate is once again drooping won't close. When we called to discuss the problem, Tom, the owner, was rude, condescending and confrontational. Said we needed to hire a maintenance man to re-cement the post as it was our problem not theirs. read more

I would like to thank West Coast Fence. Most companies lull you into a false sense of security and trust, and then they screw you. West Coast are just bad from the word go. It really helps in the decision process. Their estimator left here about 40 min. ago, after my wife asked him to leave. When we called to complain about how rude he was, we were told that ,"you can't get along with everyone". So, that seems to be their customer service policy. You can't get along with everyone. Billie Jo, I couldn't disagree with you more. The customer is always right? Maybe not all the time. The potential customer should probably be treated a little better though. I would assume that West Coast, like all of us in the construction business, is probably flush with work right now. Our small residential project was obviously too small to be bothered with. They could have just told us that. Sending out a rude estimator, who obviously doesn't want to be bothered, is no way to run a business. Ask what the job might entail, and then tell me the truth. The owner, Tom was very kind and knowledgeable when I went in the office to order a few panels. He took his time to explain what materials were needed for my project. He even made me a list to shop around for better prices since I explained to him that I am on a tight budget. However, his hardware and panels were the best prices and really good quality too! You can tell this company has been around for a long time and has a majestic "Mom & Pop" feel to it. Bottom line...GREAT SERVICE & QUALITY PRODUCT!!! read more
