Took my Chessie in due to skin issues. He has suffered for years with constant itching that turns into loss of hair and sores. I've been to a couple of other vets to seek relief for him. It's either steroids and apoquel or a very expensive shot. The shot did not work and the steroids work great, but he would have to be on them constantly which could cause bigger issues. Dr. Baggs was recommended by a friend, so I thought I had nothing to lose in trying his practice. It's been a little over a month since our visit, and the (2) medicines given have worked wonders. They will only order prescription script meds ( including heart guard etc) IF YOU GO INTO CLINIC AND PICK UP SCRIPT AND THEN CHARGE YOU $10 per script you pick up. Will NOT call in or escript any medication. Also can never get to talk to the Vet if there is a problem with your pet. Not even for a f/u call on your pets condition, when complication occurred as result of their medication. And poor response time and filtered through an office clerk. Went to take my little kitty to get a check up on all his shots. They are very very nice and informative on everything my little one needed. The prices are not high which is exactly what I needed as a college student. We were able to get all his shots and blood work done within a matter of an hour. We are so grateful To the entire staff at West Villa Maria in animal clinic. The receptionist were very friendly and welcoming knowing I was coming from out of town to get my dogs dental surgery. Compared to the big cities the cost was extremely reasonable. The doctor removed all teeth except one due to the severe damage which we were already aware of and even did dental surgery on one of the canines. They did lab work and Sent us home with three medicines for less than a third of the price it would have cost in Austin. Dr. Bags is awesome and friendly very kind letting me know every step. I have been going to Dr. Baggs since 2014.. In 2016 He saved my yorkie's life after she got pancreatitis (literally it was a miracle) and then extended her life well beyond what I thought she would live. She lived to be a full 17 years old and we had to make the hard decision to put her down in Fall 2022. During the visit, they were so kind, caring, and patient. They cremated her and put her in a beautiful engraved box and took her footprint cast and made it into a plaque with a care package. We also had adopted a dog over covid that they take extremely good care of! They truly have a passion for animals and care as much for their owners.. And their prices are unbeatable! We are sad to finally be moving to another vet, as we have been traveling 2+ hours because we can't find a better one. I took my dog here because of the good reviews, I appreciated the open hours on a Saturday, but the level of care was lacking. I was charged for a "comprehensive" exam. This blew my mind because the veterinarian did not take a temperature, listen to my dogs heart, look in her ears, feel anything. She merely looked at the problem and tried to get me out of there as fast as possible. I felt cheated as a client. I am a student and my finances are spent wisely and it stung to watch my money be wasted on a sub par examination. I was also charged for a "urinalysis" which the Dr. told me that the strips used were not that accurate. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

Our dog could not be happier with Dr. Baggs! She's had a rough time lately, with a few problems coming all at once, but Dr. Baggs has been there for her the entire way. Our dog went to few vets down in Houston before we moved to College Station, and was terrified of them, she hated the way that they treated her. When she goes to Dr. Baggs' office though she trots in with her tail wagging. I think this stems from the way that Dr. Baggs interacts with her. On one of there meetings Dr. Baggs entered the room, leaned over and gave her a scratch behind her big Basset ears and said "How's it going Goober?" She responded with an enthusiastic tail wag and was more than happy to let him give her some vaccines. Dr. Baggs isn't the only wonderful person here, his staff is incredibly helpful and kind. I wish I knew that name of the vet tech, but she did some rather disgusting things in order to help our dog, but she deserves a medal. Any time I call they're always happy to help and even when it the third time because I still can't figure out what I'm doing they patiently guide me though my dog's medication routine. Dr Baggs has been my mothers vet for years and she looves him. Her dog requires a prescription dog food and he charged much less than her old vet. Her little dog is very hard to trim his nails and when we found out they would do it for $10 no office charge we no longer did it our selves again. I live in Austin but visit Mom in Bryan and they know I only use them when I am in town. I called my Austin vet about cleaning little dogs theeth she is 17 lbs and 3.5 yrs old. They said she is way over due so bring her in and it would be $500. I call Dr baggs and was told it would be about $200 since she was that small. So next time I was in town I dropped by for her toenails and asked about scheduling her teeth cleaning. Dr bBaggs took a look at her teeth and said she is fine bring her back next year and still no office visit charge. read more

My daughter took her 2 year old dog in and was told her dog had kennel cough. They gave her dog pills and a shot and was told she would be better in 24 hours. The dog only got worse. My daughter took her dog back in and all they did was give her pain pills and send her home. Then the dog had a bruise form on her belly. More pills and maybe we should do xrays. My daughter lost her best friend 2 nights ago. All they wanted was to push pills. In the end when it was to late they thought maybe they should try to do something more. read more

I URGE YOU NOT TO USE THIS CLINIC if you care for your family's pets. On October 13, 2015, I brought in my very sick Australian Bearded Dragon to West Villa Maria Vet Clinic. Our lizard has been our family pet for more than 5 years. The lizard had a fluid-filled, infected abscess on its lower jaw, causing it pain and difficulty eating. The staff took a sample of the fluid, supposedly examined it under a microscope, and then told me they were sending the sample out to a lab for analysis. I was told I would hear back from them in a day or two with the lab results. They sent the lizard home with a 6-day general antibiotic and charged me $143.71. By the next day, Oct. 14, the lizard was even worse. I proceeded to contact West Villa Maria Vet Clinic numerous times over the course of the week to inquire about the lab results and to reiterate that the lizard remained very sick. I called them on Oct. 14, Oct. 16, and again on Oct.19. Each time I was told they would check on the lab results and call me back. They never called back, despite my repeated requests for help. It is now seven days later, and I still have NOT received the lab results. In fact, during this entire time they called me just once, on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m., and only after our new vet had contacted them also asking about the MIA lab results. Did Villa Maria Vet Clinic apologize and own up to their mistakes? NO. Shame on them! Luckily, our new vet has been compassionate and genuinely concerned for our family's pet lizard. Villa Maria Vet Clinic repeatedly showed a complete lack of professionalism and ethics, and showed little-to-no regard for our lizard's ongoing care. I don't care if the mistake was theirs alone or the lab they used, the bottom line is they should have followed through with this lizard's care and called me back (with or without answers). At the very least, they should have refunded all or part of my money (why pay for lab work you never receive?) Again, I URGE YOU NOT TO USE THIS CLINIC. read more
