Large soft sandy beaches to lie on in the occasional hot sunshine found in Wales, and swimming, surfing, sailing and kayaking in the sea. There are boat trips from the harbour for dolphin spotting and other wildlife in Cardigan Bay. Plenty of shops nearby where you can buy buckets and spades, beachballs, inflatable dolphins, sunhats, flip-flops and other necessary items for the beach, and there are several good ice cream and burger/fish and chip take-aways as well. A gorgeous place to visit - I was there two days ago and loved every minute!

During that time (I'm now 25 and took my partner here yesterday ) and up until now, not a great deal has changed. This however is not a bad thing. The beach is beautiful, windy at time but regardless, one of the most softest sands you will feel on British soil. The dunes make for a fantastic view and offer some relief from the wind (if you have it that day) I highly recommend visiting this beautiful little town, it's beach and the local town of rye. This isn't your normal great British beach, this offers just something more that feels special.

Forget the summer, that's all Stella Artois, dodgy tats and lobster coloured sunburnt yobs & no-place-to-park territory. Autumn, winter & spring are for those 'in the know'. This place is massive, really big. I was there a few years ago and there was a beached ship the size of a Dover-Calais ferry there - look at the photo! I missed it initially!!! If you imagine a vast stretch of sand running for miles with wrapped up people walking, horses galloping and wind & kite surfers everywhere, then you have Camber Sands. Fantastic place. Camber itself is a curious run of wooden bungalows looking lost and beaten up by the elements & there is a Pontins style holiday camp too. Cripes! Ignore this & Qype Camber for some of the fantastic beach cafes that are about. For dinner & drinks Qype Rye. A beautiful place if you've never been. Can be a little 'cream tea' but there are some excellent fish restaurants too. A final tip is a stroll round Winchelsea. My favourite East Sussex village. Beautiful.

This is where you can see the lighthouses and get an ice cream cone. We had arrived here while a cloud of sea mist was entirely blocking the view of the lighthouses, so we kept chugging along. We started out all the way at the treat station in Seaford and walked from there, around the river bit at Cucksmere Haven (I laughed then and I'm laughing again now typing it), over all seven of the sisters and ending at the park, which would have been a good 5 or so more miles to the train station in Eastbourne. The hike we did was at least 20k steps and NOT easy. Getting up all of the hills is no joke. From the trailhead/park area, we elected to take the bus back into Eastbourne, which apparently only runs on weekends. So our Thursday butts hitchhiked in a road-raged taxi with several other tourists back into town. When we go there, the weather was perfect, so we had a fantastic view of all the cliffs from the Seaford side (which is the point of starting in Seaford, to get the good view of the whole thing). Alas, a cloud of mist rolled in, which was magical in its own way. I felt like a royal walking around on my hunting land. There's several fields of sheep and cows to enjoy, too! Moo!

In September 2023, I took a day trip from Brighton (just one hour via the 12x bus to the Seven Sisters Park Visitors Centre). I would recommend stopping by the visitor centre to get a map brochure, stop by the restroom, and ask questions. There are basically 3 options for hikes. 1. Short walk to the beach. If you have young children, I would take the flat path along the Cuckmere River for 0.5 miles toward the beach. At this point, you can turn around back to the centre for an easy 1-mile trip, or you can climb a steep trail to join the South Downs Way trail. 2. Moderately difficult walk to Birling Gap. This trail avoids the beach, but climbs up and down a few hills - you'll open a few gates and cross fields. It's not strenuous, but the hills will feel like climbing stairs. After 45 minutes, you'll reach the cliff edge with water views. Continue left toward Birling Gap as you enjoy scenic views. It probably takes 1.5 to 2 hours in total with some water breaks along the way. In Birling Gap, you can find another visitor centre for drinks or lunch. Catch a sightseeing bus (4 pounds) for East Dean where you can pickup the 12x bus for Brighton. 3. Long difficult walk to Beachy Head. This trail includes the hike above, but you will continue toward the lighthouse (Belle Tout) after Birling Gap. Go ahead to the other side where you'll see another red lighthouse. If you're tired, catch the sightseeing bus at Belle Tout for East Dean. If you're up for more walking, go ahead for another 2 miles to Beachy Head. The views are pretty. About 3-4 hours in total. At Beachy Head rest stop (you'll see tour buses), you can catch the sightseeing bus (4 pounds) for East Dean where you can walk to pickup the 12x bus back to Brighton.

Great set for movies, I can totally see a murder scene being set here with someone being pushed off the cliff and hanging on for dear life to a rock as they're falling down. From the city it takes less than 30 min to get here on the bus. There is a pub up on the cliffs, public restrooms, then nothing much else apart from a lighthouse. The isolated landscape is part of the charm. It's very peaceful and you can gaze far out on the blueish water. Looks like a different country, but its not far from London. Pictures don't do it justice. A not so nice side of the place is that it's a common place for suicides where people jump or drive a car off the cliffs. The many signs from the Samaritans is evidence of this.

Well, that would be Beachy Head along the South East coast. The location of several films since including Atonement, it's a breath-taking place that's distinguished by jagged, white chalk cliffs, a small beach and truly breath-taking views of the English channel. There's a cluster of pubs and a few holiday cottages dotted around the area but the real draw is the fresh air and peace and quiet. In the summer, it's worth taking a picnic and walking down the metal staircase onto the secluded beach where you can usually sunbath and swim for a few hours without being disturbed. Those with a fear of heights should be prepared, there's quite a drop and no safety railings along the cliffs - so don't go too near the edge!

Next time you're coming to Southend on a day-trip, don't follow everyone else who gets off the C2C line at Southend Central and walks through the town to Three Shells Beach. Stay on to the end of the line and you're in for a treat. East Beach is actually a beach with sand, rather than the small stones which cripple you on your way to the water at Southend's other beaches. The water is great for windsurfing and you don't have to rely on high tide the way you do with the Estuary-side beaches. There is also a huge grassy area before the beach so if sand isn't your thing, you can always set up a few deckchairs and catch some sun. For those who drive, the parking is plentiful although there is a pay and display system. The only thing letting this little gem down is the lack of refreshments available. There was a snack bar by the beach, but this burned down a few years ago and hasn't been rebuilt. It wasn't very good anyway. I understand there are plans to for a new restaurant but this could be some time coming.

Seaford definitely isn't in the first division when it comes to seaside resorts: in fact, the…read moreformer historic Cinque Port is more of a seaside town than a resort, really. Its seafront Esplanade is as low-key as it is possible to get: there are essentially no shops, just a few shelters and a sea wall, with a walkway running at the top of the pebble beach. At one end, is the historic Martello Tower (built in 1803) and views along the dramatic white cliffs towards Cuckmere Haven; the other way leads past flats and bungalows onto Marine Parade, which runs to the suburb of Bishopstone, and has fine views across the bay to Newhaven harbour. Some will find this all immensely tedious, but I rather like its low-key appearance, and the fact that the only facility is likely to be an ice-cream van. My only criticism is that some of the new housing developments effectively turn their back to the sea, presenting a façade of garden walls. What were they thinking?
