4.5 stars - We found Wesley's Kitchen via Pic Chic in Zurich. It's basically a one-stop shop where there are a few restaurants, wineries, and bars to choose from ranging a variety of cuisines. Wesley's Kitchen was Asian, and it stood out to us. We ordered 4 dumplings, an order of spicy noodles, and a a wonton soup. The dumplings were about 13€ and each of the entrees around 25€, pretty standard for Switzerland. The portion sizes were fantastic. The dumplings were huge and my friend got many substantial wontons in her soup. The spicy noodles were actually spicy! I couldn't finish my plate because there were so many noodles. Everything was delicious. Not sure if Wesley's Kitchen is usually backed up, but they took quite a while to bring our food. Also, the nature of Pic Chic allows you to sit anywhere in the establishment so I understand if it was hard for our waitress to find us. Either way, we'd definitely come back! read more

Among all the choices, I like the ShangHai BaoZi most, especially the one with shrimps, tastes really good. Having just moved to Zurich, I was already craving Chinese food and Wesley's Kitchen definitely helped hit the spot. I heard from friends in Zurich that good Authentic Asian restaurants are hard to find here (especially at a decent price). Wesley's Kitchen is a great option for those who just miss dim sum! (I haven't been here for dinner yet so only had their lunch dim sum) Their xiao long bao (pork soup buns) were really really good, the skin could be thinner but honestly, I'd be back for more. The Shanghai buns were also yummy and you can order them by piece which is nice. The steamed ribs were super authentic, scrumptious and be soup that comes out of the ribs (because of the fat) is very delicious. The crispy noodles were just ok- I'd try something else next time. (The noodles were better after we added their spicy sauce). As mentioned by many other reviews before, service was really slow...the 2 servers just weren't paying much attention to the tables and when each table was done or needed something. Was craving noodles and Wesley's Kitchen's freshly made hofun hit the spot - delicious.

Disappointed to have to be revising my review for what was my favourite place to visit in Zurich. The last two times I have been back to Wesley's (taking friends with me) I have been left sorely disappointed. Firstly, the new regular waitresses are very vague and don't seem to know what they are doing or have any interest in providing good customer service. It seemed to be an inconvenience to the staff that we wanted to eat there. Secondly, rice is now no longer available. Given how delicious many of the sauces are on the 'tapas' dishes, we used to order a small serving of rice so we could enjoy the sauces left in the dishes, rather than wasting it. We are now told that rice is not available because it is not traditionally eaten in China and 'not tapas' (go figure). Last but certainly not least, we were charged 2 CHF per glass of (tap!) water last time we went. In a city where you can get clean drinking water from fountains around every corner, this is very hard to get my head around. The dumplings are still delicious but it's hard to ignore these other things. read more

Finally came to to try out the restaurant after repeated visits to their weekly baozi stall at the Zurich main station. Basically: Food quality/authenticity: 4 stars, fresh ingredients, good variety of tapas, getting close to what you'd find in a typical restaurant in China ...impressive for Zurich. Service: 3 stars, friendly and pleasant but amateurish and a bit on the slow side (we were served by Joseph, who was really just a kid than a waiter) Price: 2.5 stars, given that each dish is (~two) bite-sized, 14-16 Chf per dish is a bit hard to swallow. Okay, so yes, you can make above average Chinese tapas. But do you really have to charge a premium like that?... I guess given the Zurich factor, I should give 3 stars for the price. But, sigh, it is just disappointing because they really could charge less and be outstanding given the completely normal ingredients. Okay, if you decide to come for thr first time, think small... - The sitting area really is kitchen-size (I'd say 20 people can be packed in, maximum) so it will be packed most of the time. Should go for takeout or have a reservation. - Dinners dishes are not typical Chinese dish sizes, rather bite-sized tapas. Come for a light evening meal (for 50 Chf, you can taste 3-4 decent tapas dishes) - Come with a small group. If you come with a group of more than 4, it's likely you won't have your own table and will need to order the tapas dishes in double or triple. Also, it's not so comfortable conversing with a larger group in this rather crowded kitchen. read more

My recommendation? Eat at their stalls at any of the numerous food festivals all over Zürich. Their Shanghai Bao dumplings are great, the sauces served are a perfect fit. My experience at the restaurant was however quite the opposite. We went here twice, the first time although we had a reservation we were asked to wait for more than a half hour or just come back some other time which is what we chose to do. The next time, the exact same thing happened again - we were asked to wait for 20 minutes before we got a table despite having a reservation. The food itself, although good, is overpriced - especially considering the location and the kitchen-style ambience of the restaurant I find it hard to justify paying 13-17 CHF for maybe 3 bites. One of those times I really wish A) that I could give 4.5 stars & B) there were about 100x more food trucks around the Zurich area. My wife and I were actually on the way to another place to eat behind the train station and happened to stumble upon Wesleys Kitchen food truck. Since food trucks are often known to have some of the best and least expensive food in the States, we thought it might be worth giving it a shot. I ordered the fish special of the day and my wife ordered a few of the buns. All were really, really good! I was surprised to find that my fish was actually cold but the taste replaced the surprise with happiness quite quickly. No fishiness, just really nice consistency and tastes going on there. The selection of buns that my wife ordered were all excellent as well. The guy working was really friendly and worked as quickly as he seemed able. The selection of drinks was a tad odd. It was homemade tea (2 sizes) or some form of beer. We ordered a large plum tea which was also really good. This, coming from someone who usually despises tea. We'll definitely check it out again when we're in the area. Sadly, most of the sit-down restaurant reviews complain about the seating and service so I'm reluctant to try it.... however, it'll probably happen at some point as well. Every time I come to Zürich, I eat Wesley's Kitchen, no doubt about it. The Xiao Long Bao takes me back to my days in Shanghai. To me, Wesley's Kitchen is good on a global standard for Asian food, not just only the Swiss standard for Asian food (sorry, but true). Finding good Asian food to eat in Switzerland can be a challenge, and I'm glad Swiss people are able to find such a haven in Zurich. The Sheng Jian Bao (crunchy on the bottom) is my absolute favorite. If I'm not too hungry, I'll just order those to-go and be on my way. read more

I only stayed in Swiss for three days but I ate at Wesley's kitchen twice. The food truck was conveniently located right at the train station. I had Katsu burger and Green Curry. OMG! The food was so good!!! The green curry was one of the best Taiwanese curry I ever had! And Katsu burger was Amazing! I went there at the end of the day so the Katsu wasn't super freshly made and a bit cold. But it was crunch, tasteful and yummy! I bet it tastes even better freshly cooked! The green curry with beef had a lots of meat and vegetables. The portion was generous too. The dimsum was ok. But I bet the fresh ones taste even better! The helper spoke good English and he helped me out to make up my mind. If I go back to Swiss I will definitely try to eat at this place again. When you are tired from traveling and all you want to do is get some Asian food takeout and eat at the hotel....this is the spot. Or if you just want to eat...I will go here. Extremely slow service...Over 30 min wait in a completely empty restaurant. For the overpriced food and long wait time, you're better off going somewhere else. Service definitely needs to be improved. read more

After discovering their shanghai bao at the street food festival, and loving it, we decided to give their restaurant a shot! About the restaurant : Although we had a booking, they couldn't give us a table and we got sent home. A few weeks later we unfortunately gave them a second chance, and Again didn't get our table but eventually were seated at the "bar"... an extremely uncomfortable place to sit! The food was less good then expected. It was over all a bad experience. About their stall : We decided to eat their shanghai bao at the street food festivals ... Where I thought nothing can go wrong! Well I was wrong, after waiting in a loooooong queue, I wanted to order 1 shanghai bao, and got shouted at by the EXTREMELY unfriendly woman (she always was but I didn't care too much), she claimed that I had to order at least 2 (trust me I went to almost all the street food festivals in Zurich and always to their stall and that was completely new to me and wasn't mentioned anywhere) and instead of giving me a chance to change my order she ignored me and went on with the next client ...just a NO GO! read more

Wesley's hits the spot for dumplings in Zurich. Their tapas are good but a little expensive for the portion size. I recommend sticking to the Shanghai dumplings and Xiao long bao. Service here has always been great for both sit down and take-away. read more

These are by far the best dumplings in Zurich. I only wish they had more! They have a meat version and a veggie version and both are to die for. I can't wait to go back! They also have tea boiled eggs and tofu... yup... heaven in a restaurant. The staff is also very friendly and clearly proud of what they serve. I went to lunch with a couple of friends. We ordered a few of the other dishes and ate family style so we could try a few of the items they had to offer. Although all really nice, they were nothing compared to the dumplings and eggs. Next time, I will splurge all my lunch budget on those two items. yumm... yumm! read more

Prices seemed ok for this area, about 90$ for 2 people without drinks. Food was good but not great. The soup dumplings had a nice flavor but thick skin and we are always chasing the din tai fung dream. Other dishes were just ok but also not bad. Service was very nice but very slow and they seemed pretty understaffed. Our last dish we ordered and 20 min later asked if it was being prepared? Yes it is coming. 40 min later we flagged down our server and asked again and without missing a beat she said 'so sorry, the kitchen forgot about it'. Huh. When was she going to tell us that? Overall not bad for Switzerland but I'm also dreaming about the great food back home for half the price. read more

Really tasty dim sum (bao with meat)... Hand made and fresh... Price a bit steep (2 CFH).

Xiao Long Bao in Zurich, along with red piggy and Shanghai bao, both with pork and veggies. Very authentic, rivals places in Shanghai and Hong Kong. Staff is super friendly. Seating is a little tight, I was seated at a table with two Chinese ladies who enjoyed the food as well, half of their meal was to go (and it was a big bag!). Will definitely be back when I come to Zurich! read more
